Strix flicks through the chicken bones. Something bothers him but he can't quite put a finger on what.
You think we're the first?
First what?
The first group that crazy ***** has fed to the Banshee?
Strix pokes his staff into the ashes again.
This? No. He chews some phandalinian jerky. Ventrers not carry chickchicks. Too loud. Meat not keep. Farmers mebbe. Or... He looks around again.
Aaaah HA! But if you were living in the ruins, where would you stay? Where would you keep the chickens? And why would you come above ground to eat them?
Inn cellar. But not safe. First place looted. So somes place else. Smiths mebbe. Not potant. On clock. Neeways, Garaele seemed up n' up. Banshee prolly not eat. We go now.
Come on, you know you want to make something out of chicken bones and cloth strips.
Strix ignores his craftier leanings and returns to the group to report his findings -"Nuttin!" - before falling back into position.
Speaking of rations, how many days have we been on the road now? 3? Haven't been decrementing my stock of grub!
In terms of fighting the orcs, there's 1 outside, 6 in the cave, an ogre and presumably Brughor is tougher than the average orc. They have the numbers and the muscle, so we need to punch them in the brain. Presumably their cave is at least on par with the Goblin's one in terms of complexity which means smoking them out might be difficult but on the plus side would mean that there won't be 7 Orcs and an Ogre sitting just inside the front door.... So we need a plan. In terms of what I can contribute :
For anyone with a decent Stealth score I can probably get us in with Pass Without a Trace (+10 Stealth for an hour as long as I don't get punched and fail a concentration check) which should at least get us close enough to take out the sentry silently and let us scope the place out a bit. It does mean I won't have much ki left for dealing with what comes after but if I spend what I have up front the rest of you should be able to save spell slots and one-off abilities for any big fights?
Only other thing I have going for me is that Strix speaks Orc. Combine that with Incantis's mind-speech and Ogres being thick as pigshit, can we fool him into thinking, for example, that Brughor has ordered him to attack the other orcs to prevent a coup or something? Strix just feeds Incantis phonetic phrases to repeat? We'd need to get close, but that's what PWT is for! I'm assuming Brughor is tougher than the others but I'd expect if the Ogre has personal loyalties or has been cowed into subservience, it'll be by him so trying to get him to turn on Brughor might be tougher.
(This is the afternoon of your third day on the road, yes. Please make sure you are consuming rations, and marking it on your character sheets every day - I would suggest in the evening when you camp.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
You turn south, and head towards the hills, with the mountains looming behind them. You pass through a beautiful green valley, with red and blue spring flowers dotted across the hillside. As the sun sinks lower in the sky to the west, you find yourself feeling surprisingly chilly in the hill's shadow. You stop and set up camp, and consume your rations for the day. You take a quick look at the map and recall the directions you received; you feel that you will likely reach your destination late the following day.
Please give me watch order, and those on watch give me a Perception check.

Strix sets up a perimeter using pitons, strings and bells. (there are 4 bells, 10 pitons and 50 ft of string. So really that's just a perimeter around Strix's tent :D) and then looks for a good spot with a bit of cover to use as his lookout point for 1st watch
Perception 18
He also jams his spear into the ground nearby with his redbrand cloak over it and the Wolf chain hanging by one link from the end of the shaft, and projects a Minor Illusion to fill out facial and bodily details to make it a more convincing 2nd guard. (I can roll if you want but the idea here is to use magic to make up for his shortcomings as a dummy-maker :D The chain should at least jangle a bit if the cloak is disturbed. It'll do till I can find a gong)
Dekhan can also speak Orc and is reasonably charming... so some kind of tricksy plan with deception, persuasion, and performance might work. And of course he’s still down to challenge old bossman to single combat... provided Zoria has got a healing word or two up her sleeve in case he gets one punched.
I'm not sure how the orcs will take to Zoria casting magic on Dekhan in a duel lol unless my healing word can be "Achoo"? And I make it seem just like a sneeze lol

I'm in complete agreement here...the way I see it is single combat UNLESS things go bad...then we break the agreement and have to attack everyone. Your honor is intact because we didn't ask permission, we just decide to jump in :)
I'm still wondering about spell slinging from a rooftop or hiding spot...if they can't see me but I cast frostbite...are the RAW that it gives away my position even if it's not a direct ray or blast? I need like spell sniper or some feat? Makes me want a blowgun and poison skills.
The night passes peacefully. Dekhan, you notice the wind change, and grey clouds are headed in from the north. It's not unusual this early in spring for the occasional late snowfall this far north, and spring rains are very common. As the morning comes, the sky is overcast, but the weather is still fresh rather than chilly.
You pack up camp and make your way through the valleys and over hills, moving south and south-east. At one point, you come upon a hill with three trees grouped together at the oddly-shaped top - it looks a little like an elderly lady wearing a feathered hat. Daran Edermath mentioned this to you as a sign to look out for on the way to Old Owl Well. You could turn off and head easttowards it and the undead he spoke of, or you could continue southtowards Wyvern Tor and the orcs.
As the party slows to admire the Old Lady Tree and the decision it represents Vaz says;
The dead don't get any deader is my reasoning. The orcs on the other hand might be startin to wonder where their raiding party has gotten too (to?). Shall we continue to Wifitor?
Having forgotten to bring rations on this journey (or indeed at all), Incantis will forage for nuts and berries as they go along. He'll also keep an eye out for any game that he might hunt with eldritch blast.

I think the consensus was South partially because of Varinth's sound reasoning about comparative mobility, but mostly because Scupper doesn't want to look like he's turning chicken :D
Is Strix allowed to assist Incantis since he's trying to position himself as a scouty type?
There isn't a trail to follow, but Scupper got good directions from Kottok and you make good time up through the hills and towards Wyvern Tor. You see it from a good ten miles away; a taller and rockier hill than those around it; with very little growing upon it except grass. You reach the foot of the hill you know that you're perhaps ten minutes' walk from where the orc camp is located. It's a gloomy late afternoon, a light drizzle begins to fall and the air turns chillier, reminding you of the winter that just ended.
Let me know if you would like to proceed at a normal pace or with stealth.

Fair call Mr Scupper. Varinth kits up and climbs onto Soodi. Let's go.
"Thanks for the support, Vaz..."
Then quietly to himself
"Feck me...I guess I'm getting killed by orcs today..."
Then loudly to the group
"...mind ye I'm not opposed to stabbing a banshee lady in the back if that's what everyone votes for..."

Incantis, make a survival check as you search the hillsides for suitable food white you travel.
Which way are you all travelling?

Yes, Strix can help Incantis foraging, or make his own separate check.
