Without saying a word Syna takes off, determined to cut off any flanking enemies leaving from the rear of the fort. As he circles around Serak, the druid clicks his fingers, extinguishing the bonfire inside. The grass, still damp from the morning dew springs gently against his weight as he tears along the stone wall, preparing to ensnare any creature who dares reveal itself.
Inside the fort, Beetle is forced to squint slightly as he adjusts to the fading light of the bonfire. With one soldier dispatched and lying in a heap before him, the paladin turns swiftly to his right, slashing his longsword into the second zombie.
Beetle Attack Roll: 23 Damage: 12
The blade strikes the chain mail clad warrior cleanly across the chest, releasing a black cloud of dust into the air. Blowing outwards into the fresh air, Beetle quickly find himself surrounded by ash. In a brief fit of coughing he waves his free hand before his face, desperately trying to prevent a repeat of last time.
Beetle Constitution Save: 12
Straining through the black cloud, Beetle finally manages to waft the ash out into the open air to be dispersed by the wind. Beside him, the zombie crouches, thick black liquid gushing from its chest.
With a high pitched screech the zombie lurches forwards. It's sharp clawed hands reaching for the paladins face.
Zombie 2 Attack Roll: 10
Still with an arm raised, Beetle easily pushes the zombie aside, shoving the creature backwards into the wall. The soldier rolls onto the floor before finding its feet again, leaving a trail of blood behind it.
OOC: That's up to Arkhan and Zyltris now! Dayereth and Jelenneth will not be involved unless needed. Everybody except Syna is still in the same positions Arkhan, but if you need I can draw up another map for you...

OOC: Arkhan I'll take your turn here to keep us moving. Any issues, 'm happy to change it.
Pushing his way through the door and into the fort, Arkhan grumbles to himself, drawing his sword. Another pathetically weak undead begging for death stands in his way. Without mercy, the dragonborn thrusts his longsword into the beasts rotting flesh.
Arkhan Attack Roll: 20 Damage: 6
Zombie 2 Undead Fortitude Constitution Save: 17 Save DC: (5+9)=14
The zombie screeches as Arkhans sword carves a deep wedge down its chest. For a brief moment the soldier stands silently, before its torso unfolds and falls to the ground. Arkhan merely snorts in disgust, turning his attention to the rest of the corridor.
"All clear in here!" Zyltris calls to the others waiting outside, "There's a ladder here too.... looks like it goes to the roof!" While the others gather around, the elf heads over to the north western corner, testing the ladder with his weight. The wood is well aged and very light, but appears to be safe enough.
OOC: The two zombies are now no longer un-dead. 20xp each.
Serak is quietly impressed at the state of the old fort as he ventures inside. Compared to the other buildings in the town, this one appears to have aged well, showing only minor amounts of wear. He runs a hand along a wall as he walks the corridor quietly, solid stone as strong as the day it was built.
Reaching the end of the corridor, the bard suddenly pauses. Unease sets in. Beyond the door to his north, a faint sound... metal scraping against stone perhaps?... followed by a slow shuffling of feet. To the south, a single defined groan, muffled through the wooden door.
Continuing around the north side of the fort, Syna approaches the back door. Similar to the one found at the front, the wood is badly warped and reinforced with steel banding. Clearly designed to withstand an assault of some kind.
Patiently the Druid waits, concentrating on any sounds that might dare to cross the threshold. After a few short moments, something hard half heartedly scrapes against the inside of the door. The sound lasts only a moment, but is enough to perk Synas interest.
Serak: Falling back, Serak whispers, "More zombies in both these rooms."
Handing Zyltris his crowbar, the bard motions for him and Brots to join Syna around back, saying quietly, "We'll wait until we hear you breach the backdoor."

With a wordless nod, Zyltris makes his way back outside circling around the fort to find Syna. Brots follows suit shortly after, skipping happily along in the elfs long strides. A couple of tense, silent moments pass. To the rear of the fort, Syna steps aside as Zyltris forces the crowbar into the wedge of the door.
The wood splinters around the frame with a loud crack, opening slightly before refusing to open any further. Lashing out in anger, Zyltris kicks out with all of his strength, but something holds the door firmly in place, matching his efforts. Red faced and exasperated he turns to the others for guidance before calling through the door, "SERAK! IT'S BLOCKED ON THE INSIDE!"
Serak: Thinking a moment, Serak shouts back, "KEEP TRYING!"
Turning to Arkhan and Beetle, the bard says, "They know we're here now... Let's get in there. If you two can keep the zombies busy, I'll attempt to slip past to unbar the door for the others."

Taking the lead, Arkhan steps forward. Splinters of wood soar through the air as the dragonborn kicks the door cleanly off its hinges, sending it crashing to the floor. Across the narrow room, two more armoured zombies jockey for position, pressed against the opposite doorway, desperately clawing to reach the fresh meat awaiting them just outside. Temporarily distracted by the intrusion, one of the undead soldiers turns its head towards them, growling through its long pointed teeth.
OOC: No surprise round here. Dayereth and Jelenneth will not take any actions unless they are needed. The northern door will remain shut unless Z3 is moved from the adjoining space - or if Zyltris manages to pass a strength DC.

Serak wastes no time. As the last splinters float through the air, the bard pops his head between the doorframe and the Dragonborn muscled torso. “Hey, Ugly! Mind moving?!”

In the opposite doorway, the struggling zombie suddenly flinches, dogging it’s claws into the old wood of the door. With a haunting deep grumble, the creature slowly turns its head, baring it’s teeth, to face the newcomers. It’s neck cracking loudly as its chin snaps past it’s shoulder. Slurred words drool from the long dead soldiers mouth, remnants of a long forgotten language, lost in the rotting skull of the beast.
Beetle squeezes through the doorway behind Arkhan, floorboards creaking loudly beneath him as he steps into the room. With his longsword raised, the paladin thrusts the blade deep into the body of the zombie to his left.

Talon plunges through the rotting soldiers chain armour, bursting through the other side and releasing an explosion of green flame which quickly spreads along the far wall. As flickering emerald embers burn out harmlessly on a row of stacked beds in the corner of the room, the worst of the erupting flames pours over the zombie pressed against the door. The undead soldier lets out a high pitched screech as the flame trickles across its face, further charring it’s already blackened skin.

An arrow fizzles through the air, soaring through the breached doorway and into the raging flame. With a sickening thump, the arrow shaft plants itself into the undead soldiers chest releasing a sticky black goo from the wound. “KNOCK KNOCK!” Brots’ sing song voice rings out happily over the sound of the chaos inside.
