(OOC: Henry can recall that many ancient cults worshipped snakes, some performing horrible rituals to mutate their bodies. You also know that a very long time ago, there were two large cities in Chult. One was known as Mezro and was destroyed. The other, which was only listed once in a very obscure text. This city was called The Forbidden City.)
The rest of your short trip to the Thundering Lizard goes uneventfully. As you reach the Market Ward, you see market stalls, small businesses, and street performers offering their wares to passersby. Even walking within ten feet of these vendors prompts them to offer you their wide selections of items. Although the market is already quite loud, the sound of shouting and raucous laughter can be heard from a squat building labeled The Thundering Lizard. Inside, you see a mix of people watching strange creatures compete in a pit towards the back of the building. You also hear the lively music of a band playing near the bar. At the bar, a tabaxi woman and a strange turtle-man accommodate the many customers. A large board pinned with various papers hangs to the left of the bar. Although the tavern appears packed, the inside is relatively uncrowded since many patrons drink and eat at the outside tables.
Henry walks up to the Bar and when he has the attention of the bartender, "A glass of wine, nothing too fancy. Could you also point me in the direction of someone who goes by the name Stream?"
Scamper is so taken aback by all of the new sights and smells that she hardly knows where to start. She stands there slack-jawed for a bit too long, and eventually snaps out of it and decides to go look at the animals fighting in the pit. She approaches one of the people watching and asks, with wide eyes,
Henry nods in thanks as the glass of wine is slid over, "How much for the glass? I was referred to you as a reliable source of knowledge when it comes to finding a reliable guide for the inner terrain of Chult. Any recconmendations?"
Gimdir rips off the note from Musharib the albino dwarf and marches off to the bar, next to Henry, where he slams it down, proclaiming, "One bird, two stones! We be helping this dwarf reclaim Moradin's Gauntlet and he be guiding us for free to the Soul thing."
Jasuri reads the posting and after seeing Scamper wide-eyed yet again he figures he better follow her. Can't have adventuring companions getting stabbed or robbed. If he sees any adventurer-looking types he wants to ask what their opinion of the guides are.
(Scamper) The man you ask looks at you with an expression of bewilderment.
"How could you not know what these are. These little critters are Stream's Sluggers. Stream hosts fights and races between animals here every other day, and as an added bonus, lets people bring their own contenders. Right now, Banana Candy (He gestures to a cat-sized snail creature that has clubs instead of antennae) is facing off against the champion (He points at a semi-bipedal lizard that appears to have flaming feet), Crispy Bits" After answering you, he gets right back into the competition.
(Henry)
Stream points you towards the boards "Any of those should do you. Also, Mee'Yomp'U and Gruk over there (She points at a table occupied by a pale dwarf and a humanoid frog) could do the trick"
Scamper looks a little sullen to see the poor animals fighting each other for sport, but looking around at all the hard and scary looking people enjoying themselves she decides she better not say anything. When Jasuri comes over she hugs his leg and whimpers saying so that she thinks only he can hear,
To hunt for food, or to defend ourselves and our's people is one thing, but to be set against each other for sport. It is an unbearable waste.
She holds onto his leg even if he continues walking, just a bit longer than anyone would be comfortable with. People probably stare at them.
(OOC: Careful Jasuri, she thinks the two of you are friends!)
Henry slides over how ever much Stream asks for the glass plus a small tip.
He scowls as the Dwarf interrupts his conversation. He then takes a big mouthful of his glass scans the note. He then re-reads the note more carefully and takes extra long to think, just because he can. Eventually he looks back over to Stream, "This Albino Dwarf has a good track record?"
"You seem to know just as well as me that dwarves can be very...well, dwarfy." She continues out loud "Besides that, all of these guides will get you where you need to go. Except maybe Faroul and Gondolo (The third note). Those two are rich dandies and don't know anything about survival."
At the dwarfy comment Henry grins but whipes it off his face when he turns back to Gimdir. "If the others agree to the albino dwarf as a guide, thats fine by my be."
Well how do you know, lady? They might know something, and you’re trying to make a cheap buck! Of course, you could be telling the truth, but you don’t really know, do you? People will do anything for money. Anything. Even cheat, lie and steal.
Thinking she understands the game, Scamper laughs and says,
To the Biting Wizard!
and looks disheartened when no one laughs.

In order to look smart in front of the kobolds, Gimdir goes over and reads the papers hanging from the board.

What are they?

On the boards, you see various descriptions of guides, as well as a few other notes and advertisements.
(Henry) The tabaxi bartender laughs as you ask her for Stream, and slides a glass of wine over to you.
"I'm Stream. What do you need?"
Henry nods in thanks as the glass of wine is slid over, "How much for the glass? I was referred to you as a reliable source of knowledge when it comes to finding a reliable guide for the inner terrain of Chult. Any recconmendations?"

She eyes the dwarf and then whispers to you.

Gimdir frowns and struggling to keep calm, asks Henry, "What be dwarfy meaning?"Gimdir makes a 'you see' motion towards Stream and says, "Ya see! Be helping the dwarf, he be helping us."
(Before Henry makes a comment that will most likely result in a brawl breaking out, Kerrec that comment was whispered, are you sure Gimdir heard it?)
Well how do you know, lady? They might know something, and you’re trying to make a cheap buck! Of course, you could be telling the truth, but you don’t really know, do you? People will do anything for money. Anything. Even cheat, lie and steal.
(GunGuitar, I am confused and want to check before I post. Are you talking to Stream, the tabaxi bartender?)
"There's nothing we can do about it now. Come on, it looks like the others have found Stream. We should speak with them, ya."
Jasuri gently peels scamper off of his leg and leads her to the bar.
OOC: I can see that
