"Um, no."Though Sen is holding his dagger in his hand. "And should we release them? Are they really trapped or are they plant people?" Sen squints his eyes and the gears in his head start to spin. "We'll test them," Sen says quietly to Dathrya. Sen leans down to the hole and now realizes he has his dagger. "Guess I do have a knife." In a loud voice, Sen calls down. "I hate trees. I think the only good tree is firewood! What about you two? What do you think about trees?" Sen gives Dathrya a wink and a nod letting her know this is a good plan and that he is witty.
"Oh come now, Sen, you'll never rile them up properly if you keep it so tame, have a little fun with it!" Harivaldr whispered with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. Then the skald cleared his throat, took a deep breath, and roared into the pit. "Firewood? Pah! I like to hack them down, just to watch the leaves slowly wither off the branch! And when the wood is dead- good and dead- I use it to make boats out of! Ships of all kinds, just so the very bones of the miserable arboreal wastes of sap and bark can never be buried in the soil their roots so loved!" With a final ugly snort he spat into the pit, then returned Sen's wink and nod.
"I don't think I like the look of that tunnel,"Entropy mused, eyeing the dark passage. "So it would seem that getting their attention is our best bet yes." She let him handle the actual attention getting part though. He had one of those loud, booming voices perfect for such a thing. Unfortunately, it did not garner quite the response either of them had been hoping for. Those above shouted back something practically nonsensical. Entropy frowning as spittle splattered against her boot. Glancing at Jarlas, the half orc lowered her voice to a whisper. "They sound half mad but even a madman can drop down a rope I suppose." Looking back up, Entropy cleared her throat. "Right, trees. Awful things those, just...just terrible. Taking up all the space in the world like they think they're entitled to it, always dripping snow down the back of a poor person's cloak. Should just burn the whole bloody forest down if you ask me."

An extremely confused expression over comes my face as we her the replies quickly turning to indignation as spittle drips down. I open my mouth as if to give those above a piece of my mind when Etropy whispered to me showing herself to be wise and quick thinking. Whispering back “Wonderful idea.” Then when she had finished calling up agreeing with the mad ramblings from above “Ahh...yes. Trees...a-awful things. And of course we all love ships. Much better to be sea than stuck here away from the water!”
Up above: Two different voices call out from down below in agreement with arboreal outrage. Durven listens closely, something about one of the voices tugs at his memory.
Dathyra rolled her eyes. She understood the purpose, but always found Sen's ideas to be a little strange. "Oh, yes, because the last trees you spoke to were such chatterboxes," she whispered to him. "I'm going to take a wild guess here, and say that at the very least, we're dealing with people. The real question is if they have something to do with who lives here."
Once Sen had the vines cut away, she leaned closer to the edge and cast a simple light spell, touching the rim of the pit. Seeing two faces in the now illuminated space, she only gave Sen what her brother often called her famous "I told you so" look. She squinted as her eyes adjusted to the brightness. There was a half-orc down there and a...clearly aquatic-looking figure. She wasn't sure what to make of that. "Hello?" she called down. "Who are you?"
"Well now we know they're most likely not trees," Sen says matter of factly. Sen cuts away the vines and allows Dathyra to speak with the subjects in the pit. Sen pulls a rope from his pack and begins to unravel it.
I am out of town until Wednesday. Feel free to put Sen on autopilot.
Replying in agreement was enough to at least convince those above to cut away some of the vines blocking the mouth of the pit. A light flaring to life that was bright enough to banish at least most of the darkness, even if it did leave Entropy half blinded after being stuck in the shadows for so long. Blinking in the sudden brightness and holding a hand up to shield her vision, the half orc tilted her head at the sound of another voice. Different from those who had called down before, female, elvish if she wasn't mistaken. Asking who they were. "My name is Entropy Klive," She called back. "And this is my...associate Jarlas Lohlasnath. I assure you, we are merely unlucky interlopers. Prisoners of opportunity. I stumbled upon this place much by accident while travelling to Northwoods Rest to visit family and was attacked quite randomly by some very vicious shrubbery before being dragged down here to rot. I take it you lot are not our captors?" She was splitting hairs a bit in referring to Jarlas as if she knew him when they had only just met but explaining as such would call for taking up time she didn't want to spend. Not down here anyway. Besides, he seemed a talkative sort and honorable enough that she didn't have too many reservations about helping him while helping herself. She was sure she could get answers out of the fish man about the path that had led him here once they got out.
Entropy is probably the only one that might over hear me mutter “associate?” under my breath. I then take one step forward drawing my self into a formal stance, right hand holding my trident upright by my side, left hand behind my back. Even though I am 20 feet down from those at the top of the pit it seems very much as if I am looking down from above.
“I am Prince Jarlas Lohlasnath. My tale is much the same as Lady Entropy’s. We are most grateful for the assistance thee provide. I shalt not forget the debt I owe to thee. Perhaps you can be of some assistance to us in discovering what is transpiring here and brining it to an end.”
Dathyra noticed that Sen was already getting some rope out. "I'm inclined to believe them," she said, "and at the very least, we would do better to speak with them up here. After all, there are five...er four of us to two of them if things were to turn bad."

"Come on up, then!" Harivaldr called down, "My name is Harivaldr Laurison, wandering skald of the Lauriklanni. My companions and I just found this place not too long ago, and the garden didn't much care for us." He then gave Dathyra an incredulous look and said, "Prince? What's a prince doing out here in the middle of nowhere?"
Sen and Hari brace the rope and prepare for the royal climbers. Dathyra shines her light on the proceedings. Durven has a crossbow prepared because it's been that kind of day and Merric continues to slumber.
Entropydid not miss the way the Triton muttered 'associate' under his breath but wasn't sure what else he expected her to call him. They'd met but a few hours ago, even associates was putting things generously to be honest. They were barely even acquaintances and were only even that out of chance and necessity. She'd chosen associates for simplicity's sake, hoping those above would let them up before asking anymore questions. Of course, simplicity wasn't the only way to go. The half orc looked over at Jarlas in surprise as he broke in once more. "Prince is it?" She muttered back, eyes narrowing just slightly before she shook her head and looked back up at the light glowing at the mouth of the pit. "Alright."Stepping forward as the rope was lowered down, she caught the end of it and settled her pack more securely on her shoulders. "Don't mind if I do," The half orc flashed him a somewhat teasing smile. "Your Highness."She started up the rope, hoping this Harivaldr Laurison fellow was telling the truth about himself and his companions having stumbled upon this place same as she and Jarlas had. Of course, if they had wanted to do them harm leaving them in the pit would've been the easiest way to go about it so it was a good bet they were being truthful at the very least.
"Your guess is as good as mine," Dathyra said to Harivaldr. "I've hardly ever been outside my own temple until now. Knowing the comings and goings of princes is simply out of my purview." Meanwhile, she made sure to keep the pit lit enough for the two to begin climbing up. As the first of the two, the half-orc got close, she held out a hand to help her to the top, hoping that she didn't accidentally tumble down into the pit in the process.

Sen will introduce himself again once the two from the pit have made it to the surface."Senik Nurov, famed treasure hunter and scholar. No doubt you have heard tales of my adventures. Anyways, how'd you two come to be locked up here? Assuming you didn't just fall in the pit or something like that."
I give a slight nod when Entropy says "Your Highness." as though in acknowledgement of proper etiquette. Once she is up and clear of the rope I take hold and begin my ascent. Those holding the rope are probably a bit startled. The man wearing full plate armor is not nearly as heavy as you would have expected nor does it cause the amount of clanking. Once at the top you see I stand about 5' 8". I have blue skin, with straight sea green hair down just past my shoulders. My eyes are solid silver with no iris or pupil. Instead of ears I have fin like flaps, as well as fin like structures on my arms and legs. though they all lay fairly flat against my body. You can also see slits on either side of my neck. and peaking out on any skin showing below my neck there is tattooing, done in silver ink it is flowing and reminiscent of the deep ocean. The armor I wear is polished and fine. It looks rather thin to any who are knowledgeable of such things, and is more segmented than usual. "I am afraid I have not Sir Senik Nurov. Perhaps your skald friend here would like to regale us at a more opportune time. I would quite like to hear thee at thine craft Harivaldr son of Laur. I thank you all for your aid, though I fear I did not catch your name my lady." I turn toward the elven woman.
Entropy accepted the hand up when it was offered, granting the elf who offered it a grateful smile as she did so. "Thank you."She pulled herself over the edge of the pit onto solid ground with a sigh of relief, releasing the other woman's hand as she straightened. Trying to brush some of the grime from the pit off her cloak. Noticeably smaller and leaner than one would expect of a half orc, she was a few good inches shorter than the elvish woman despite the distinctly elfish cast to her features. The pointed ears and high cheekbones didn't stand much of a chance against a somewhat hawkish nose and broad jaw but as she'd not bothered to file down the two tusks poking visibly over her bottom lip, it clearly didn't bother her much. Short black curls escaped the edges of the felt cap pulled low to keep her ears and the back of her neck warm, a hawk feather stuck into its band and her eyes were a pale, almost purple color in the dim glow of the light spell as she looked around at the group of strangers. Still a bit light blind honestly. "We appreciate you letting us up." She said, nodding in agreement with Jarlas. "It was quite unpleasant down there."

Now that they were up out of the pit with them, Dathyra was able to get a better look at these two. The half-orc may have been a little intimidating to some; what half-orc wasn't? However, being used to her old friend, Holg, she didn't seem to mind. The aquatic-looking fellow was far newer to her than anything she had seen before. And, as Harivaldr had said, what was she to make of a prince just happening to be wandering around a clearly dangerous forest, only to get trapped by a witch. Then again, they were traveling with the likes of someone "famous" such as Sen, so perhaps she should have regarded that with a grain of salt. She only nodded humbly when he spoke to her. "I am Dathyra," she said. "I'm sure we can discuss all these things later, though. I'm not sure how long it will be before the owner of this house comes back." She could see that Durven was still having no luck waking up Merric, and she was getting worried that they had stayed here too long. Something far more dangerous, such as an angry witch not pleased to have uninvited guests was a thought not sitting well with her.
