Morphnods to himself and walks out of the room, back to his friends.
"Ok, asking three questions was allowed and worked out as we thought."
"We now know that Master Krennic is currently camped near the exit from level two of Undermountain."
"Halaster, commented at the end, that he wasn't sure Krenniceven knew how close to the exit he was."
"Halasterkind of, dissolved away, at the end? I hope he will still be available for more questions for each of you, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was it."
Morphholds out the mask for whoever wants to try next.
"So next question is 'What are the directions to get to level two'. Who wants to take the next attempt?"
"So," says Rethan, "I guess that means no more questions. Well, at least we know where Krennic is at the moment. Sounds like we aren't *too* far behind."
He looks at Laniel. "What's the painting of?"
(Could we get an updated map of everywhere we've explored on this floor? Figure out where else we need to go)
Titusgrunts affirmatively, and leads the way. “If he is still on level two then we’re closer than I would have guessed. That stairway up to the North we left could lead us to level two, and if he’s camping now then we have some time to make up that ground. I’m only down a few spells and feel we should press on, and consider revisiting those the stairs depending what we find in here.”
With that, he marches down the hallway and starts to open the door.
Titus cautiously opens the door and it reveals the passages lead to the north and to the south. To the south, it turns east quickly. To the north, he can tell it extends quite a ways into the dark.
Titus turns his head back over his shoulder to look at his comrades, and nods as he gestures to the southern passage. He continues down the hallway that turns to the east with his shield and battleaxe at the ready.

The room opens up into a sizable space. A deep pit sits in the middle of the south side of the room and a door allows exit back to the north on the east side of the room.
A bas relief sculpture on the west wall appears to be an elaborate floor-to-ceiling cross-section map of Undermountain, with what is clearly Mount Waterdeep and the City of Splendors at the top, and twenty-three hollowed-out dungeon levels stacked below it. Each dungeon level has its own stylistic side view, but no names or details are included to suggest what a level is called or what it contains. Three features stand out:
Next to the third level is a bas-relief of a flaming skull.
Next to the sixteenth level is a bas-relief of a comet.
Next to the twenty-third (lowest) level is a bas-relief of a tower with a tiny rune engraved above it
Something is moving around at the bottom of the pit.
Quietly, with his eyes closed, Rethanobserves through Midnight's senses. He sees a human or half-elf who appears to be pacing back and forth at the bottom of the pit, which is carpeted with rubble. The figure seems to be unable to find any hand holds on the smooth walls of the pit.
Walking over to the hole, with his Detect Magic up, but his Light dismissed, Morphquickly pears over the edge to have a quick look for magic, not intending to be able to see anything else in the darkness.
Morph nods to himself and walks out of the room, back to his friends.

"I'll give it a go," Laniel says. He takes the mask and, like Morph before him, disappears when he enters the alcove.
The monk returns only a moment later. "There was nobody there except for a painting, a chair, and some king of dissolving goo," he says.
(The Blob King!)
"So," says Rethan, "I guess that means no more questions. Well, at least we know where Krennic is at the moment. Sounds like we aren't *too* far behind."

"I didn't recognize him," Laniel says. "Maybe Halaster?"
(Boarding now. Map later.)

"The painting was of the guy who was sitting in the seat."
"I assumed it was Halaster from the descriptions I have heard from stories told by adventurers who have explored Undermountain before."
Morph looks down at his rough map, trying to workout where to explorer next.

Morph looks up from his map,
"Well, this bit ahead here, is the last option we have without going back to the north-side and following after those ruffians from earlier."
Morph once again refreshes his Detect Magic, and then walks around to the door.
"Titus, Rethan, Laniel? One of you want to lead the way through?"
Morph steps to the side of the door, to make room for his more martially skilled friends.

After it turns east, it turns again 15 feet later to the south. 15 more feet bring the party to another door.
Titus opens the door and enters the room cautiously.

Rethan sends Midnight flying out over the pit (as high as he can) to see what's down there.
Rethan:
Quietly, with his eyes closed, Rethan observes through Midnight's senses. He sees a human or half-elf who appears to be pacing back and forth at the bottom of the pit, which is carpeted with rubble. The figure seems to be unable to find any hand holds on the smooth walls of the pit.
"There's a person down there," Rethan whispers to the others. "Human, or maybe half-elf. Looks to be trapped."
Morph raises an eyebrow at Rethans claim.

Morph:
He detects no magic but does hear rocks clattering at the bottom of the hole.
"Who's there?" says a gravelly voice from the depths of the hole.
Morph steps back to the others and whispers,
"I don't detect any magic down there. Do we want to see who it is and see if we can help maybe?"
