Alwin just looks around in confusion as he hears a yelp come from near Dewi and seeing the halflings. He just holds waiting to see what Altani decides to do.
OOC:
Hold action until he can see what Altani decides to do
Standing back hesitantly, the often-nervous Alwin looks to his centaur ally for direction. Noticing Altani attempting to talk the unfolding situation out, the half-elven fighter leaves his blade sheathed at his hip. As the press of drunken men and women keep pushing away from the pit, the citadel raised warrior hears a brief *yelp* of pain, and then a long, dangerous *growl* coming from within the crowd of surrounding drunks.
[OOC] RND1: @Hambergler - I assumed that Alwin was waiting to see if Altani attacked anyone and then was going to follow suit? She didn't and so no 'triggering' event occured this round to set off Alwin's ready action.

"Don't be a fool Anthor, we come here on the tail of the murderer of the lizardfolk. The Eternal Blue Sky would curse my soul if I worked with the Yuan-ti. Stand down for anyone that interferes with us will meet with justice."
Also I assume the intimidate would be my action? If not I hold an attack to trigger if I am attacked.
The lanky, mercenary with the scraggly red beard looks over his shoulder when he hears the voice calling him to attack you and he draws his broadsword as his hardening gaze snaps back around as you begin to speak. Nearby the two other humans with him draw their own longswords and raise their shields, while beside you the dwarf takes a step back as he grips the handle of his warhammer.
The mercenary leader looks for a moment like he is about to call for an attack, but something in your words and tone, or perhaps the ready look of the centaur warriors weapon and stance, causes the human sellsword to pause. Hearing the bestial *growl* emnating from the crowd, the *hissing* sounds of serpents from the pit and then noticing the massive form of Mazin hoist his own drawn blade, the fighter seems to think better of it, and nodding at Altani he sheaths his sword and raises both hands palms outwards, saying,
"Yeah, well... I guess we can let you lot go. I never did trust that ***** halfling anyway, nor her boys. Let's get out of here, lads! I'm sure we can find a merchant somewhere who needs a caravan guarded."
The four fighters warily edge away from you and your companions, still on-guard, but clearly heading for the exit and away from the confusion of the surrounding chaos.
[OOC] RND1: Altani's intimidation check was a success. Nicely done!

As the crowd of drunks fall over each other as they stumble away from the area, Mazin rushes forward towards the most visible threat, the halfling with the crossbow standing atop the bar. As he approaches, the massive barbarian says calmly but forcefully,
"Put away your weapon! Answer our questions and you MIGHT walk away from this."
The majority of the drink-hole's patrons manage to clear the area, but you hear shouts of alarm from a couple who were even more drunk than their companions as they get pushed into the pit by others trying to escape.
[OOC] RND1: Greatsword drawn, Mazin uses his movement and the dash action to get adjacent to the crossbow, light wielding halfling standing on the bar. The drunk patrons use their movement to get as a far from the pit as possible.
Anyone making (or with a passive) perception of 12 or more can read the below spoiler:
Instead of seeing the fallen drunks lying atop a pile of writhing serpents, you notice them dissapear *through* the horde of snakes, as though the snakes weren't even there. You can still hear the disconcerting sound of dozens of *hissing* snakes, but now looking at the pit, you see that the serpents are strangely transparent, as though they're not really there at all.
A moment later you hear more *growls* and *grunts*, then pained screams and pleas for help.

Kestrell runs over to the pit as well (C16). He will use his action to make the snakes move out of the pit and away to the bottom right. He keeps the Minor Illusion hissing going though to make sure the patrons keep moving.
OOC: A few options about what could be happening next. If something else happens on the halflings turn, I'll edit this post.
If the halflings keep attacking, including the one in front of him:
Mazin will use his bonus action to rage. With a beastly roar, he will recklessly attack the halfling in front of him (attacks against him will have advantage).
If the halflings keep attacking, but the one in front of him drops his weapons:
Mazin will kick the weapons away from the halfling in front of him. Then Mazin will use his bonus action to rage. With a beastly roar, he will recklessly attack the closest attacking halfling (attacks against him will have advantage).
Attack: 19 Damage: 16
If the halflings stop attacking and drop there weapons:
He will nod at the halfling in front of him. "Good choice." Mazin will say, dryly. He will grab the halfling in front of him and move towards the rest of his companions, halfling in tow. "What's happening down there? Where did these snakes appear from?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Alwin just blinks as the confusion begins to sort itself out, watching as his companions negotiate with these halflings. He just moves closer to his allies with his sword and shield drawn waiting for a signal that they should attack or put down their weapons.
OOC:
Move to F17
Hold attack, trigger is if the halflings attack or someone on the team attacks:

"I suggest we instead try to get those people out of the pit who fell in."
