Perspicacious falters slightly. The gold was a ruse last time, but now? She feels like maybe she should go deeper into the maze, but why is there a brick wall here? Before she realizes what is happening, Ted begins humming a tune, and heading for the wall. "We don't need no education..." hums Ted.
Fiorello urges Wrecks toward Ted, "Come on rocker dude, you've got the righteous moves," and he starts humming the digitalized Tarzan yell from the Atari classic, Pitfall. During this time, Fiorello prays to Aerdrie Faenya, asking for her favors to grant him the skill of video gaming which he hopes he can implant into Ted via his ghostly rocker form. (Fiorello attempts to channel divinity, knowledge of the ages hoping to bestow some legendary gaming skills to his human counterpart.)

(You got it! Roll a d20 to determine the HP your ghost body loses! Ted, you now add 1 additional die for all video game rolls. Your NEXT roll is immune to the ghost die should you land on it, too!)

Tony learned from his last mistake and leaps over the ground to avoid the acid trap! However, the deluge of acid that pours from the ceiling is... copious. Tony's avatar dissolves into a pile of bones! (The watching crowd groans and laughs)
Tony's screen fades to black... And then he reappears by Perspicacious' side once again!

Moves: 13 + Ghost: 1
The cleric's boost grants an additional 1 to Perspicacious' roll (JUST pushing her into safe territory; way to go, Fiorello).
The snakes are still a ways off, but they're gaining fast.
The brick wall in front of you spans the height and width of the hall. A single power boost might not cut it. If you want to get past, you'll need to either figure out the trick of it (if there is a trick) or spend both of your boosts!
(Just like last time, you can each ask two questions for clarification.)
The machine rocks suddenly as Patrick slams the panel shut.
Amaruve: Kreezie stands up suddenly. He looks nervous, but he walks toward you nevertheless. Thin traces of authority are starting to gather in the lines of his face; looks like he's just about had it with you, Pat. "Now wait just a dang second here. I don't care if you are a ghostbuster. You can't go banging around with the equipment like that! I'm going to have to call Mr. Money." He picks up an avocado-green receiver and punches a few digits into the handheld.
Meanwhile, Jean, the silent exodus from the arcade continues. Only 15 or 20 people remain, and nearly all of them are clustered around Mammon's Gold. Their faces are bathed in the green light of the display, and they are edging closer and closer to your companions as they play...
Fiorello, you are still reeling from delivering that extra bit of skill to Perspicacious. Unfortunately, it seems that your holy powers don't play well with the necrotic energy of Ty Rockasaurus' spectral form. "Watch where you're slinging that RIGHTEOUS SAUCE, my owl pal," Ty rocks in your mind. "I don't think we'll sur-VIVE another one of those!"
While that happens IRL, Perspicacious and Tony face the trial of the wall. Tony, maybe feeling a little gun-shy now that he's out of extra lives, hangs back just a bit as the tiefling moves closer to the wall...
Without warning, the brick trap falls forward with a tremendous crash!
(Both of you: make one last roll for video games! -DC 20- Remember to apply your extra die, Perspicacious!)
Perspicacious fails to jump clear of the wall in time. She is crushed by the bricks, her avatar exploding in a puff of flashing white rectangles.
Tony, however, is much faster on the uptake. Seeing that the path is clear, he bounds over the rubble just before the wall reforms behind him! He's through, one step closer to Mammon's Gold. Perspicacious, you reappear by Tony's side, one life down. In the distance ahead of you, you can clearly see the peak of the golden mountain of coins. The snakes no longer seem to be following you (apparently, they were blocked by the wall), so your pace slows a bit. The maze becomes dimmer and dimmer, and after a short while only the glow of the still-distant golden mountain provides light enough to see. You try to move toward it, but your progress is blocked by something unseen. A message slowly flashes across the screen:
"ENTER MAMMON COIN TO ADVANCE"
There is a ka-chunk from the arcade box as a large coin slot slides opens in front of Perspicacious' and Tony's real bodies.
Jean, Amaruve, and Fiorello: The watching crowd gazes at Mammon's Gold impassively. They're almost entirely still, their faces unnaturally pale and sickly in the green light of the screen. Dermott is in that crowd, too, but he's just as enthralled as the others. When the coin slot appears, he and the other teens turn to the three of you (yes, even you, Fiorello) and speak in unison:
"YOU SHOULD PLAY WITH YOUR FRIENDS"
(Kreezie looks on in sudden horror as the phone drops from his hand.)
Perspicacious and Ted both let out a slow, "Whoah..." and Ted reaches into his pocket. He feels the weight and the heat of the mammon coin, carefully pulls it out and holds it up to the neon lights of the arcade. It gleams brightly, and he turns it slowly in this fingers. Quickly, before he can second guess the decision, Perspicacious forces Ted to slam the coin into the slot on the machine.
Fiorello consults Tobin's Guide to determine anything he can about Mammon and his gold. (Religion: 20)
Meanwhile, Wrecks says, "Uh, dude, this seems odd" as he begins to hum... "Gen'rals gathered in their masses... BAH BAH!"
(How is your religion only +1? Granting advantage on your check with Tobin's guide, just in case you crit: 6. ...Okay!)
Fiorello, you easily recall that Mammon is one of the seven princes of Hell. Consulting Tobin's Spirit Guide, you see that in this world he is tied to 'Judeo-Christian' mythology (what an odd-sounding religion) as the embodiment of wealth and greed. You also recognize that, despite the fact that no tieflings followed your ancestors into the plane of air, Perspicacious' coloring and demeanor matches the description of a descendant of Mammon- a tiefling subset that draws from his magic.

"No turning back now."
Perspicacious, you remove your VR goggles and throw the Mammon coin into the machine. As you do, the coin burns your hand- thin threads of warm golden light wrap around it settle into your skin, leaving a fine interweaving of delicate scar lines around your hand.
Nothing else happens at first, but then there is a grate and a crash from within the machine. It rattles as a seam appears between the two screens, and it slowly widens to reveal a passage filled with glowing green smoke. Ghostly wails echo from the dark tunnel within the machine.
The crowd around you cheers horribly! Tony, you rip off your goggles, as well. Patrick and Jean- you race around the machine to see what's happening. Without warning , many of the onlooking teens and tweens rise into the air and attack en masse!
(It's a ghost fight! 1 You all have the first action! You appear to have three general options: 1) Fight the ghosts, 2) go into the tunnel, or 3) As always, something else)
Perspicacious will shout to Tony,"Forget the crowd, let's go! Maybe we can find a way out of here." Then she'll yell back to the party, "Cover our butts!"For a second, she's taken aback by the sound of her voice. She's still in Ted's body, but that was definitely her intonations and not his. Strange things are afoot at the Devil's Arcade, indeed. She heads into the tunnel, summoning an invisible spectral hand as she does so. You never know when you'll need an extra helping hand.
