Thia would lead in nodding in immediate agreement as Corti mentioned them leaving upset and in a hurry. "It was difficult to see from where I was, but my impression was exactly that. And I've been wondering the same thing, what would he gain from this?" She'd lean back in her seat, crossing her arms in thought before she's able to answer Corti.
(I know Leo was Thia's neighbour and a fellow student, but am I able to do a history check or something to find out how well Thia does know him? lol)
Brandt exits Mendraxes' shop and begins to make his way to the Eastern Docklands, but as he makes his way down, his thoughts are going towards things other than the request Mendraxes made of him. Krathgar is obviously a capable gunsmith, or else Mendraxes wouldn't consider him a rival. Sure, he's an unsavory fellow, but if he can get the job done for me, he's not my problem. So Brandt makes his way to Krathgar's shop, with the intentions of seeing if he can't get a better deal from him.

Thia realises, that she knows only very few things of Leo. He had fled to Duskrock a few years ago, but that's all she remembered... She had only seen him a couple of times, not even sure exactly what he was studying here. It kind of surprised her to come to terms with just how little she knew someone that lived right next door. Maybe Corti knew something else? Also, this Carlo was someone she didn't recognise either. From what Corti said, he sounded like another student, maybe someone she could ask about Leo. Thoughts swirled around in her head, it was time she did something to orer them and come up with a plan of action.

It takes Brandt a while to get to the Docklands, but once there, his speed slows to a crawl, as he inspects the streets for signs of Krathgar's shop. After a small while, he finds a sign pointing to a back alley near the docks: "Powder & Shot". Following the sign, he reaches a small storefront with a handpainted sign. Entering the store, he was surprised by the clean interior and the considerable lack of merchandise visible on any shelves or in any showcases. The only thing that gave him the sense of being in a gunsmith's store was an ammunition press just visible in an adjacent room. From exactly that room, the large form of an older half-orc with a stained leather apron over a simple linen shirt approached, wiping his greasy hands on a greasier piece of cloth tucked into a side pocket of the apron: "Name's Krathgar, how can I 'elp ya t'day?"

Alone with Milo in front of the closed and likely heavily locked door to the Cannith estate, Tarian turned to her halfling companion as he walked away. All formality returned in her tone. “Mister Spudsder, currently you are hiring me for two things: to be your bodyguard and to find one Mister Brandt. I’m going to need you to tell me which of these two things I need to prioritize, because right now I have a potential lead on Mister Brandt, but I can’t pursue that if the body I’m supposed to be guarding is somewhere other than here.”
Inwardly, Tarian sighed. Don’t think I didn’t catch what you meant earlier, Milo. I get it. I ruffle your feathers, too.
Tarian sighed, this time outwardly. “Look, at least allow enough time for Mister Lucius to potentially announce us. He seems diligent enough to at least say who came by.” Tarian looked up at the building again, and ran some quick, rough estimates on what she knew of the interior. “Twenty—no, fifteen minutes. At least give me that. No one comes back in that time, then we leave.”

“Yes, protect me from the devious old man butler my life depends on it.” After his quip Milo pauses. “You don’t ruffle my feathers, it’s people like that, that find it their authority to judge the lesser folk. Corti starts nodding, "Yes, Carlo. He was another student I think, but Leo seemed to listen to him, follow his lead, you know. And it was Leo's idea to take the protest to that presentation." She fidgets with her scarf, "Actually... Mei Ling uh- one of the factory heads at the delegations, mentioned something about Carlo's allies up north. It sounds like they had some sort of deal." She rests her chin in her hands. "I think we should try to track them down."
Has Corti heard any news, tavern talk perhaps, about anything going on "up north"?
Thia would nod intently, in agreement. Corti definitely had a lot of good information. “It’s definitely worth checking out.” She’d smile encouragingly before taking a moment to ponder again, tapping her nose as she did, “I have a friend at the library who I’ve been planning to visit. I have some books I need to return and I was thinking of asking him about Leo. He’s the only person I’d know who may have come across either student.” She’d kind of shrug, offering a suggestion for a lead. “Unless you may know how to contact them directly?”
Corti rubs the side of her face, producing a metallic scraping noise, and looks away, thinking. “Not directly, no. I could talk to the foreman who was working with them, Bellows was his name, although I don’t even know where to contact him directly, I’d just go back to the factory.”

Corti remembers a news item from several days ago:
Bloody Battle for Borogrod Concluded
Last week, imperial forces have ended the sieges of several important factories through the use of Zhivarg fire and heavy cannon. Enclaves of workers that surrendered have reportedly been executed by the advancing troops, in an effort to make a statement. The fall of the Borogrod region is definitely a setback for the workers and revolutionary forces.
Further to the Sputh however, several sailor crews have thrown in with their brethren in the factories, and have reportedly taken over several warships and destroyed the rest of the fleet. With the shipping lanes now open, the revolutionary forces hope for support and reinforcements from abroad.
Beyond that, she had heard different rumours about the conflict, none of them independently verified:
A Forger plumber swears he had received a letter from a distant cousin living up north who saw Imps (the rebel's name for imperial forces) use battlemages to besiege some of the rebel factory complexes and dockyards.
A Cyrean exile had mentioned something about groups of volunteers gathering in refugee camps to ship out to Zhivargo to help with the fight against the Imperials.
One of the factory workers had whispered that steel in increasingly large quantities had gone missing, possibly indicating sabotage, or more likely a secret project that he wasn't privy to, probably to do with the conflict up north.
A slammer had performed a mediocre piece about the conflict, in which he urged some of his Forger brothers to join their kin abroad. He sounded sure in his piece that international support would be on their side.
A fur trader who frequently ships the northern sea lanes had sworn that the imperial prince, Tychos II Lorren, had been assassinated by some clandestine organisation, and that the civil war would be over within days.

How much will you charge for them?" As Brandt awaits Krathgar's response, he thinks about what he just called Colette, even if just casually. Is she a friend? She did point a knife at my throat. Thia’s eyebrows would raise with the new information Corti remembered. “Definitely sounds like there’s more to these boys stories and we’re closing in on some hints.” She’d lean back onto the table, and start rubbing her forehead again, trying to think back to the conversation earlier today with Milo and Tarian. “Corti, before I forget, while you were out, Milo had approached us at the table.
