Tailen now is calm, knowing that he is not being sent to steal a possession, and that nobody has committed an offence to this possible employer as someone had the Dwarf in town. He says simply as he sits and starts polishing his sword again, I can use some more coins for my collection...! Who wants to fight for this magic stick! As he says the last part he becomes louder, obviously ready for battle as there is nothing else to keep him occupied for the moment.
so you want us to chase a rumor and potentially waste my time if it is not true. Because as you said you won’t pay unless we deliver the wand to you but you don’t even know if it exist.
Any reasonable business man knows people won’t work for the possibility to get paid. So I must insist now we receive atleast 5% of the 2000 gold upfront to even investigate finding this wand that might not exist and the rest can be paid on deliver, sir. But I am not in the line of work of getting paid only if what a client wants Is receivers when he isn’t even sure of it’s true himself.
Vim remains perfectly motionless behind Carlisle while Vau slowly steps to the side as if circling the table. She has reaches one of her hands slowly behind her back. From your vantage point you can see she has unbuckled a wickedly large hatchet and has her hand firmly on the handle of the weapon. She appears poised and ready to strike if instructed to do so.
ooc: Im going to get involved here but can i get one break down of the table and how this is going is everyone seated? is the halfling like standing on the table at this point lol?

This is an oaken communal long table, like you would see at a German beer hall only slightly shorter. Carlisle is sitting at the head with Vim behind him and Vau off to the right side. The rest of you are seated in chairs along the left and right side of the table. I am assuming Chatra and the others that spoke are closest to Carlisle.
Grom, Sitting opposite Carlisle slams his Tankard on the table and Staring right at the Halfling he says "Friends, lets all Calm our Tongues!" I send Ungrim over andlands on Chatra's arm. (hoping to distract him)
"Carlisle i appolgise for my pint sized friend his his temper is bigger then his Breeches. We agree to your terms and will go forth and attempt to recover this wand." "Allow us to pay for these drinks as i know my friend here might have irked you, i would hate for the possibility for future work to be lost because a few of us, cant bite there tongue.."
pint sized? Friend? Are you drunk dwarf. I do not hunt down fairy tales for free. I have a belly to feed and thing to do and nobody gives me these thing for FREE! As it stands now I have better things I could be doing and unless this human gets some sense. Chasing his imaginary wand is not one of them currently. I am for one thing not using my Own money to bribe people for clues on a wand that might not even exist.
"We have this contract that will pay 2,000GP total, i have another Contract for the Sunless Citidal that pays 125GP each so if we go to 1 place we could each come away with 450+GP each..."
Carlisle’s mouth broadens into a smile though you are not quite sure if it is mirthful, or vengeful at the moment. He sips his ale and chuckles, “My, my little one you do have a mouth on you.. please don’t make me have to teach you some manners,” he says shaking his head.
Grom sits back in his chair, almost giggling at the vigor shown from the Halfling. His axe is upside down leaning aginst his chair.. axe head on the floor, he very very slowly drifts his hand from the chair arm to the handle of his axe.
DM Note
If this escalates and either Goliath or Carlisle makes an Attack on the Halfling or any other member at the table Grom will slam his hand into his chest and cast mage armor. i am not holding the spell persay as i dont want to use the spell slot im just saying i want it to be the first thing i do if something happens as i might not get to respond before chaos breaks out
by all means maybe these five are willing to go in the temple none have never been seen leave. but I need a reason other then a promise I might get paid to go. If you don’t want to part with your coin then I need some sort of show of faith otherwise. Maybe you have some equipment to supply or fighters to aid. But other wise I would be spending time and money doing something dangerous when I could be off making guaranteed money instead. Time is money and time wasted is no money made at all. Tell you what, I’d be willing to do it without pay upfront as long as you pay for our lodging and food here until we depart for the temple atleast. That’s not much and it shows some sort of good faith to us from you atleast.
"The Halfling has a point," Arxius suddenly speaks up, though her tone and demeanour belay her reluctance to further involve herself. Leaving Rees to speak for her in these moments was usually the better option. "As do you, our mysterious benefactor. We may be going to our deaths and that is a risk, I would assume, we're all willing to take for a bit of coin. But our survival could hinge on whether or not we are well equipped for such a task. Clearly you can spare the expense otherwise why not send Flotsam and Jetsam here?" She asks, motioning to Vim and Vau dismissively.
Hold master Dwarf. You don't speak for me. Do you know this being?
If you are inclined to take his job, that is your business. But if there is a we, then let us consult without unilateral decision.

Alten steps to the side of the room, goes to his knees, bows his head, and clasps his hands
Instead of starting a prayer, he whispers to Grom in order to return the Message spell
We still should confer privately. Something does not sit right with me about this. I'm awaiting divine guidance.
I will then offer up a prayer to Torm for guidance
When I finsish, I stand up and return to the table.

When alten returns and sits back next to Chatra he whispers to him
”I don’t trust him. The poster said lost or stolen artifacts. And he then tells us they were never his and doesn’t know if it really exist. I feel like he more then likely kill Us instead of paying us when and if we return with this wand”
Mr. Bozak, you are resolute in your position. That seems clear. I request you withdraw for a few moments to allow us to confer as potential co-workers.
OOC - unless he has something different in response to Arxius, I propose we move to this to a private discussion/reactions and make our decision(s).

I simply nod at Chatra and await any answer to Arxius and his response to my request.
Rees watched Vau move slightly, her hand on the handle of her hatchet. This was devolving far too quickly for her tastes. Below the table, she tapped her fingers twice against Arxius' knee and turned her eyes deliberately toward the woman, trusting Arxius to interpret the signal correctly and be on her guard.
"A quick conference among us seems like a wise choice. We are all just getting to know one another and clearly are not on the same page. Mr. Bozak, if you'll excuse us temporarily we should have an answer for you shortly and then, should we decide to move forward, perhaps you can provide more details."
