Alus smiles deeply. He picks Zeek up off his shoulder, leans back, and places him on his chest as he puts his feet up on the edge of the cart and places his hands behind his head.
"Spent most of life on a ship. Seen a lot of storms, always trying to dodge them, never succeeding. Then one night, a rager like I'd never seen before. An angry, swirling wall of black like you wouldn't believe. My shipmates wanted to abandon ship, rushed for the skiffs. I was right behind them too, until a flash of lightning caught my eye--then, I don't know why, but I was just...just calm man. Totally chill. I knew I just needed to stay the course, to ride the wave, and it would all be okay. And so, I grabbed the wheel, held it steady, and just WENT. Straight into the heart of it."
"I don't remember much else from that night. Except he was there. I saw him there, in the storm; next to me on the ship. And after being the only one who survived, I knew from then on I just needed to follow him. To ride the wave. To let his wind be my guide. And I'd be okay."
“Always on a ship, huh? Well, that explains a few things—! ERROR.” Genevieve stops in her tracks abruptly, repeating the error message in a more robotic voice as her her normal lit eyes flickered from teal to red. “REMOVE YOURSELF FROM ME YOU LEECH.” Without much warning, the construct drops Astra from her back, her body violently jerking about as various sounds emitted from her such as strings breaking on an instrument, and electrical hums.
“SELF DESTRUCT SEQUENCE— HHRK— S-SYSTEM SH-SHUT DOWN.” Soon after they heard those words, her body stoped shaking, her shoulders slumped over, and her eyes went dark. After a minute or so, they would hear, in a monotone voice, “System reset. One percent... two percent... twenty five percent...”
Finally at one hundred percent, the teal color of Genevieve’s eyes flash back. “Emergency system shut down. Fifty percent of systems functional. Rest is required. How would you like to proceed?”

"Ahhp!" Astra is startled as she gets tossed from Genevieve's back, but before she can say anything, she sees her friend jerking about and immediately fears the worst when she hears the talk about self destructing and shutting down. Fortunately, Genevieve was able to recover and get back to something resembling normality. "I mean, if you need it, we can camp out for the night. I'm sorry if I took too much out of you by having you carry me. I wish that you would have said something earlier if you were getting tired out."

Xenophon: Topaz Dragonborn Fighter (ixi's Dragon of Icespire Peak)
It’s been a grueling few days, but after the rain clears, the weather is pleasant. The wind off the Evermoors is humid, but cool, so the sun isn’t so oppressive.
Towards the end of the fourth day, with the sun behind you casting long shadows, you start to feel the effects of the hard pace you’ve been taking. However, with the next settlement of Calling Horns visible in the distance, you know you can easily reach shelter in well under an hour.
Should you continue to Calling Horns, you will be able to see that the small settlement stands where Jundar’s Pass meets up with the Evermoor Way. The intersection itself is marked by a cairn of weathered and lichen-covered orc skulls—likely a commemoration of some sort.
The village proper is made up of rows of small, new-looking log cottages with bark-shingled rooftops. Working men and women are returning home from a day out in the mines, fields, and orchards.
The Calling Horns Inn, a large fieldstone structure with adjoining stables, stands atop a ridge that overlooks the intersection, surrounded by tall, old trees.
As you approach, you’ll find the villagers friendly. You’ll also see a small number of well-armed militia on patrol, vigilant atop their horses.
"Oh fer fuc--Hold on!" Nirzeg stops the cart, hops out, and starts gesturing to the cart. "Would you both kindly stop being so stubborn, and ride the cart? By the nine, Robogal, you can even drive and I'LL walk. Tempted as it is, can't have you falling apart on the road... Or blowing up." The last apart he mutters during a quick glance askance, then starts shooing them onto the cart. Though if their stubborn enough to keep refusing, he only tries so hard prior to giving up with a roll of his eyes.
The Present:
"Evening." Nirzeg says in passing to any patrol militia, tipping a nonexistent hat. Wickerman tries to do the same from his shoulder, only to to overbalance and fall into the Githyanki's fortunately fast acting hands; much to the man's growing annoyance. "You're lucky you were so expensive to make." Nirzeg grouses as he forcefully plants Wickerman on his shoulder. "... Ro-.... Singer. Do you have what you need to do your maintance, or would like... assistance?" Nirzeg said as the Inn comes into sight, but avoids meeting Gen's eyes. Instead he tried to look half-busy looking everywhere else.
"I'll get us a room, Genevieve. You don't have to perform tonight." Astra said, feeling slightly guilty about riding Genevieve and possibly being why she is exhausted. She walks into the inn and pays the innkeeper to give the two of them a room for the night.

The tavernmaster of this busy and warmly appointed inn is a great man, easily a head taller than most (and a good deal wider to boot), with bushy brown hair and pale blue eyes. "Pleased to have you staying with us," he says. "Can I get you something to eat or drink? Or uh...do you eat things?" He asks Genny, belatedly noticing her non-organic nature.
Through the back doors, which are flung open to invite a breeze, sit a gaggle of people in a fenced-in courtyard behind the Inn—a man, a dwarf, a dragonborn, and a couple half elves. Among them is a woman with steel-gray hair and eyes to match, wearing fine half plate. Her sword and tankard both lie within easy reach. She sees you as you enter the inn, and makes eye contact, but she doesn't break off the conversation she's having with the group gathered outside.
Genevieve had not answered Astra, nor did she speak much when she moved herself to sit on the cart. She looked blankly at the boarding of the wagon and stayed silent the rest of the way.
When they arrived to the inn, Genny did not move until told to and gave a stoic look at Astra offering to buy her a room. When Nirzeg offered assistance, the construct turns her head to look at him dead in the eyes "Assistance is required, please-- BASH MY HEAD IN-- ZZK--" She twitches. "Manual reset needed. Please open the back of my head for manual reset in a nice location where I can rest or-- I WILL KILL THE HORSE--"

He says while trying to wrestle the warforged away from dragonborn, and relatively out of reach.
