"As much as I disagreed with the start of this we must end it rightly. Before they can offer to much more resistance I believe it is best we cut off the snake at the head. It will also do good to establish ourselves as a force to be reckoned within the region."
Eso hated to say this, time to prepare would have been preferred but was no longer an option. In battle initiative was key and she would not let them lose it now. Killing or arresting all bandits would be their next mission in her mind. Beyond a doubt.
"We should travel light for this, we don't want to be caught out in the open sleeping. They will know the area better then we do and will use that against us."
When Arm reaches the garden Toonary would be sitting in it praying, he does not know enough about the world to A contribute, and B even know there might be a meeting, unless someone said "let's go"
'Ok, then - sounds like it's settled, let's see what we can do about clearing out those bandits.'Balfour stands up from the table and makes a show of slapping his hands together 'Sooner begun, sooner done is what my dear old father always said. I suggest we move light, weapons, armor and a couple of days rations - leave the rest here with Savannah and the boys.'
I think we have some folks who haven't weighed in yet - we could always RP that they stayed behind to help Savannah and the boys protect the homestead.
Flashback:
Balfour stands in the storeroom his father uses as an office, head down, hands clasped behind his back. His father is reading a letter. A letter that was just delivered by a rather serious looking courier. A courier who waits outside this very storeroom where Balfour was summoned before his father broke the very official-looking seal on said letter.
Present day:
'Sooner begun, sooner done indeed' thinks Balfour as he steps away from the table.
Each square is going to take an amount of time depending on the terrain. The plain you are going to explore will take about a day. So if you leave early you can come back during the night and settle in the fort for protection.
You'll have to do some tracking and roll some dice in each to find specific things like hideouts, lairs or resources you can use later.
Early morning.
The night as done everyone good, despite the possibility of retaliation from the bandits. As the sun begins to cast its first rays on the group Savannah comes with a bundle of prepared food.
"Take these. It is just fresh baked bread, cheese and some ham for your travels. It'll make it easier for you if you don't have to hunt and scavenge for food." She looks for more words. " Also thanks for yesterday."
Keyyra nods his head to her and packs up the food for the group."Be careful, these fiends however silly and brutish will likely be stopped by us but should any of them come back it would be best you have some sort of suprise ready for them." Then after throwing one of his daggers to Savannah he will say to the boys "Train with your crossbows, while you may not have a talent with the arts for the moment a great warrior can overcome anything." Then he will get ready to head out with the group
Balfour takes the food from Savannah with a smile and a nod of thanks 'Thank you ma'm. We shouldn't be gone too long'
We have Arm's information on tracking the bandits right? Shouldn't he be able to lead us straight there? I vote we go clear out the bandits without delay - we can explore Area 1 afterwards
Arm stands off to the side, listening and watching. I can... um... I can take you to the bandits, he offers hesitantly. Or where they were, at least. We should check it out. I dunno how many there are, though.
Arm also votes to head off to the place he saw last night, and will lead the others if they agree.
The group moves in the early light of the day and goes straight to the last known position of the bandits. The bones, hanging from the trees, mark the entry of the territory.
It is nearly noon when you arrive at the edge of the forest. The same weird and strange feeling spreads all over you as you try to pierce through the gloom to the forest.
A howl, from a wolf, shatters the silence and birds fly away, clearly afraid. The creature isn't close to where you are but you can't stop from searching for other threats.
I ll need a survival check please and an insight please. DC14
Survival:
The forest though not unnatural as a certain darkness to it that you can't just get your finger on. The path seems clear but leads straight into the trees. It will be easy to follow.
Insight:
Magic has been at work here. Long ago something strange has happened and it has left a trace on nature.
'Something feels strange here, deep magic that has changed this place. We should tread carefully' Balfour draws his blade and steps forward into the shadowy gloom.
Otwald brings out his amulet and lets the holy symbol show as he continues through the woods. “Old magic in these parts.” The pair of scales rest on a hammer shining faintly in the scattered sunlight. “Old magic can mean anything, effects the plants, animals.... even people. Could be why these bandits acting so hostile.” Otwald keeps his eyes peeled for any magical force while trying not to stumble in the terrain.
"I will stay to the trees, I can get a bit of an advantage against anyone that may come across us." Keyyra says as he slips into the trees along the trail close enough to see the group but still be fairly out of view

Eso follows the lead of Balfour through the trees, keeping quiet as she feels as if she should be ducking under branches but the path Balfour has found seems devoid of them, making her movement easier. "This feels almost too convenient. We should be wary of traps in the area, as it is likely they will see us before we see them."
You enter the forest and pass by the hanging bones. They give a small chime as you pass. It feels like a warning but you are not really sure for whom.
The stealthier ones move in front, blending into the shadows easily but still keeping a careful eye on the others following
The trail is easy to follow for the bandits are sure of their impunity and haven't taken any real precautions.
It takes about 2 more hours ( That's 4 total ) of careful tracking to arrive to a large ruin. It stands about 500 feet on a small hill into a larger clearing. The place was once a large tower with several smaller structures sprawling around it but now looks like a cylinder cut in half with no roof. It offers protection from the wind but nothing more. Though it is not night for a couple of hours the light of a fire can be seen playing on the walls. A few voice can be heard resonating and bouncing from the broken walls.
You stand at the edge of the forest. The ruins are 500 feet from you and there are several walls that can be used to hide your movement. From what you hear there are at least 5 persons talking but there might be more. There are no distinct signs on the ruins.
In a low voice, so that he's sure the bandits will not overhear, Arm asks: Do we try to talk to them? Drive them away? Or arrest them? Put them on trial? Or just kill them? He frowns as he thinks. Last night was a reaction, to a threat that came to us. This is our first action of our own choosing in this land. I think... I think it matters what we do. He looks down at his feet and hopes that not too many people are looking at him.
You’re right, if we just attack we are just as bad as being bandits ourselves.” Looking around at the group. “We sneak up in to groups, one to talk the other to hold their attacks at the ready just in case things go over poorly.” Otwald says with an authoritative voice. He begins getting his gear read and holding his mace. I don’t mind talking to them, this armor ain’t any good for sneakin anyways.
