"Well her wits and her tounge seem to be as quick as those blades she's handling. I'm sure someone with her skills could talk their way into and out of many situations." Marun appraised the woman who addressed him. "And what skills would you bring to the foredeck mylady?"
(OOC: She still looks human, nothing changed ;) The biggest difference between two girls for the dragonborn eye (unless he grew up among humans), I'd say would be hair colour - Nawien is on the blond side of a spectre, "Layla" - dark red)
"If my charm is not good enough I can throw in some magic too" Unpleasantries were over and Nawien was merry herself again. "That sorceress Zephire mentioned - that would be me."
"Have to say, though, I have never hurt anyone before. Intentionally. And still hope not to, in the future. As you said, Layla can handle herself and I'll help her with all I can." She smiled to Marun. "And you are, what Zephire a warrior, right?"
Marun smiled back without much feeling behind his eyes. She doubts?"I have proven myself many times. I have spent many years on the seas. My blade matched against those who failed to see the error of their decisions. If there is a fight to be had, you will find me in the midst of it. In your lands I might be considered a barbarian, but I hunger for the swell of battle. It is only through feeling the edge of death that we can truly appreciate life."
"You do not look barbaric, more like poetic with your battle praises" Nawien's face expression was easy to read even for someone unfamiliar with humans and right now it was pure genuine curiosity and honest naivete of a scholar. "Sorry, never met your kind before only read about and it's all fascinating! Books say you rarely leave your clans and every clan serves a real dragon. Is it true? Have you really seen a real dragon?"
Dàin initially holds himself a little withdrawn from the conversation, but can recognise something familiar in what Marun says "Aye, I agree with you on that one Marun, I appreciated life most keenly while fighting with my brothers. I once was a warrior, but being an outcast, might also now be considered a "barbarian" in your lands- fighting and war is what I have known since I was young. Since being outcast, I have wandered the land, finding my way through the land just looking for a fight to be in. When the blood is up, and the song of battle flows through the veins, that is when life is truly felt."
Opening up makes Dàin reflect slightly on his initial grumpy disposition "Ladies, I must apologise for my earlier behaviour. We dwarves have little love for other races, with so many wishing to use us for our resources, and I sometimes react to situations from pure instinct."
The dwarf's speech is fairly gracious, and the tone in the room is becoming much less tense.
"Apology accepted," she says. "As for me, you probably haven't noticed, but I enjoy shooting off my mouth far too much. It's the same as juggling daggers--as Marun said, it is a skill learned at the cost of much mishap. Though not to myself. Ah, how I miss those innocent childhood days, learning to toss knives and running around with my friends, One-Eyed Susie, Scarface, Timmy Nine-Toes, Unlucky Oscar, Noseless Nancy..."
"I've spent a few years at sea myself,"she admits cautiously to Marun. "Were you a sailor?" If she is going to have her own ship, she will eventually need someone trustworthy, who actually knows how to sail. And chances are, she and Nawien will need someone battle-ready and strong, and not as terrifying on every level as Maze. Marun might fill the bill exactly: he looks strong and capable, and had been wise enough to keep his mouth shut during the verbal pie fight that had just occurred. Besides, she had never worked with either a Dragonborn or a barbarian before and it should be an interesting experience.

Looking at Marun, she smiles and starts laughing, "Ha ha, food... Well, it's true that I could be tempted to take a bite..."she says staring at Layla pensively while licking her upper lip... Then, Maze gets closer to Nawien and slaps her in the back joyfully, but without restraining her strength, before saying, with a childish tone, "Hey cutie, I understand that you're scared. This is a big dangerous world.” She then kneels beside Nawien, grabs her hands softly, but then quickly let it go. Caught by surprise, Maze loses her smile. After having shaken it a couple times and made sure that there was nothing more to it, her amused face comes back. Pain was no stranger to her and this was far from it. Looking into Nawien's eyes she continues, "Don't forget, it's always fun to try and corrupt an innocent beauty like yours. I'd love to be the one doing it, but it might very well be some old dirty bandits having made you their prisoner. This is a dangerous world for a virgin like yourself. I trust that Layla can offer you what you need though." Acting as if she hadn't recevied any warning previously, Maze takes Layla's hand and tries to put it in Nawien's as she continues "You need someone like her to drag undesired attention. Otherwise, you wouldn't survive long and your innocence even less. Plus, while she distracts them, it would give you time to..."Maze scans Nawien from head to toe, failing to see what she could be good at and continues, adding pitty to her tone "... She then stands back up and, looking at Layla and Nawien, says, "I must agree that we shouldn't travel together. Otherwise, one or both of you might just wake up only wearing my arms and legs as cover..." Caressing the side of Nawien's cheek with her hand, Maze adds, "Might be too scary for you just yet."
Pulling a chair, next, Maze puts her gaze on Thokk and says, "As well as I know my strengths, I can recognize my weaknesses. Wisdom and tactics aren't my strong suit. Since it seems that I haven't made it clear before, I will now. I'm confident that we would pair up nicely. If your wise enough to recognize it, then I'm interested."
Then, leaning back, Maze looks at Rusty and says, "And you... you should really work on your way to talk to females... you'd be way more efficient this way."
Thokk - After hearing Maze talk to Naiwen and Layla and pull up a chair next to him offering to group up he looks at her and says, "It certainly is an interesting turn of affairs this morning. First you want to join up with them (He uses his fingers to indicate Naiwen and Layla) and now you want to join up with me. What would make me want to be your second choice? Until last night I did not know who you were and the display you put on was rather destructive and tactless. How do I know you won't do the same thing when there is a time to be quiet?". Thokk waits for a reply as well as his breakfast...and thinks, "Where is Laaz? He said he was getting breakfast ready?".

Maze looks at Thokk with a naughty smile and says, "take a moment and think, would you? Have I suggested to pair up for battle with anyone else but you?" Then, looking at Layla and Nawien, Maze continues her conversation with Thokk "What I was offering them was more about... playtime, which, I'm sorry if I made you feel left out." To those words, Maze leans forward and puts her elbow on the table in front of Thokk, putting her cleavage on display once more. She then slides her chair closer to Thokk and spread her thighs so that her chair could touch his. With her second arm taking support on the back of Thokk chair she asks, "Did you feel left out?"
Thokk - Seeing everything that Maze is trying to do with her words and her body says, "Ah! Left out?, (He lets out a low whistle), If that were what I meant I would have said something to that effect...there is a time for fun and there is a time for business.", (Looking and gesturing with his hand at the elf, then back to Maze), "Once we receive payment from him, that is to say if we are all alive after this venture to collect said payment, I'm sure there will be plenty of time for fun to be had by all. In the meantime, you had mentioned if I recall that you are a princess, though I don't believe any of us recognized you here would there be a possibility of your recognition on this venture? And if so, how can we use that to our advantage?"
hen, leaning back, Maze looks at Rusty and says, "And you... you should really work on your way to talk to females... you'd be way more efficient this way."
My communications are adequate for dealing with either sex and most races. My former sovereign referred to me as a blunt instrument, although a finesse instrument would be more accurate, the analogy is that I was not bestowed with social niceties and graces, but for a specific function far removed from such social scenes. Maze looks at Rusty and says "Well, if your actual level of efficiency is enough for you, that's your business. If you end up being paired with me, I'll make sure that you learn some... useful things." She finishes her sentence with a weird grin...
(OOC: now, in response to Thokk)
Taking Thokk's reaction as an invitation, as well as a challenge, but also impressed by his self-control, she says, with a grin, "You... are... right!"She then pushes herself and her chair away from Thokk, leans back to stretch her arms (those chairs being way too small for her, they aren't very comfortable) and let her hair loose. Swinging her head to make them fall into place, she sits straight and, with a serious and mysterious tone, she answers Thokk "You may not be familiar with my face (pointing her face with both of her hands), my body(pointing downward) or even the name "Maze", but you certainly know my people."
While some might be impressed by their strength, others might worry about their fierceness, but all have learned to fear my highly skilled warriors, which by reputation only, discourage the uninvited to cross our lands. "You ask how my name can be of help?" Maze turns a ring on one of her fingers, revealing her family crest and says "Everyone that would recognize either my name or this signet ring would know that I am at the head of the most formidable Orc army. The one made only of great female warriors, respected by other Orc clans and feared by other races." Then, turning her ring back again, her smile comes back and she says, "You also know just how well I can entertain a crowd. I really don't need my name to be formidable."
Thokk - Responding after hearing Rusty respond to Maze he says, "And that is why I think you and I would go well together: You have a great moral compass, while I have a crooked one, We both have no problem speaking our minds...though yours is a little less understandable at times what with the bigger words, and you have already proven to be deadly in the art of combat and I, already knowing how deadly I can be, was able to best you the other night...lucky? Perhaps, but I never put much faith in luck."
Afterwards sitting back and hearing Mazes response to what he had to say he replies, "Well...that certainly would come in handy if there indeed came a moment were we to need back up. I see now that you can be serious when it is needed. If your offer still stands I will gladly accept to go on this venture with you, but who do you think we should invite with us? I have extended an invitation to Rusty, though I imagine he will turn it down...after all we didn't exactly start out on good terms."
Maze slaps Thokk in the back with joy and says, "Well, isn't that great! Someone who isn't scared of working with a force of nature. As for who should join us, as far as I'm concerned, it's really up to them. They know what we are and what we want. Also, don't misunderstand me. I won't call on my people. Thokk - Hearing Mazes reply to what he said and seeing her hand extended says, "Hmmm...Deal.", (He will extend his own hand and grasp hers) He then says, "Your decision to not utilize your own people won't change my decision either way, but your unwillingness to use them in this fray may not be as simple as a 'No'. If this Elf...Zephyre is right then this situation could affect all people regardless of land, title, or race. Try to keep that in mind...I know I am."
I am able to undertake any endeavor with any accomplice, results and time table will vary depending upon group composition. The earlier encounter between us will not affect our current objective. Our interaction and the outcome based on miscalculation, errant judgement and potentially the phenomenonreferred to as luck will have no bearing on any future interactions on my behalf.
