While the badgers are digging, Edeleth rummages in his pack for something to eat, and comes cross a wrapped box he had tossed in there this morning, when he had been too busy to look at it. Inside are a pair of Slippers of Spider Climbing. Those should keep his feet toasty warm on cold stone floors...and walls...and ceilings.

Jarl Hammerstorm stands at his War Council table, in the Halls of the Granit Palace, on the Highest of the Three Peaks. At the Center of the table lies a giant map and diorama of the Nâr Barâk Mountains, centered on the Three Peaks.
Surrounding the Jarl, are Commander Seleth Belian of the Alliance Airforce, Thanika Meake of the Mastandian 2nd Legion, Shorgreg "the Ugly" Mc Kullick, leader of "the Dogs",and representative of the Iron Clan (and yes, father of Gavin Mc Kullick), the Knight Inquisitors, and the Knight Protectors.
The Jarl speaks first.
"Friends, Allies, thank you for answering my call to arms. As you well know, our lands are under grave threats. The Red Dragon Clan and its lost Army, the Second Land Swarm, have been digging their nests all over the Countryside, enlisting the help of Gnoll followers of Ynoghu, and most recently Mind Flayers. This Gingerbread Man has infiltrated our beloved City at every level, and until he or IT is dead, no one can be truly safe inside the City Walls. The Knight Inquisitors have uncovered one of his agents recently, along with plans to blow up some of the major Landmarks in the City. Thankfully those plans were thwarted, but we all know He is still out there. As for the Second Landswarm, although the victory at the Grey Valley has allowed us a short breathing time, Artarxes of Emberdark was actually spotted by one of my Agents recently, raiding villages around the City, dressed as Santa Claus, and still commanding his legions of Dragonborn, Gnolls, and Kobolds...he seems to have been granted some sort of fiendish Power after his near death at the hands of the Knight Protectors. And his Tortle Lieutenant, Fanuk, is still on the run. Intel suggests he might be recruiting a "Special Forces" of his own, for Moradin knows what diabolical purpose. Pinekeep is still under control of the sadistic Gornar Blackhorn, and his Company of Black Dragonborn. Hunar Shatterstone and his men are close to his position. They have set up a camp 3 miles away from the Keep. But I fear that Gornar still has a major advantage by holding the Keep, and its Siege weapons..."
Seleth Belian speaks
"Jarl Hammerstorm, if the siege engines could be disabled, then we would actually be able to fly over and provide air support to your men on the ground."
General Thanika "Stonewall" Meake speaks. She smiles briefly at the Knight Protectors
"I see your new Knights have done a great job, Jarl Hammerstorm, congratulations. I've read detailed reports of the Grey Valley skirmish, and was highly impressed. But you will need my Second Legion, if we are to win this War. Izor and The Copper Clan lands have finally been liberated, so we can finally afford sparing troops for the Three Peaks. We may have defeated the First Landswarm there. But the Second Land Swarm still has more Soldiers, and Central Intelligence suggests that Wrathmaw Keep and Pinekeep could be only the tip of the Iceberg. We need to find out who Artarxes of Emberdark, Fanuk, Gornar Blackhorn, and the Gingerbread Man all work for. That's one of the major pieces of information we haven't been able to figure out yet, and could help us win."
Shorgreg speaks. He shoots an inquisitive glance at the Knight Inquisitors, before facing the Jarl.
"And lets not forget Sir Pebbles the Brave, taken hostage by Wrathmaw Keep! We must organize a rescue operation for him RIGHT NOW! I can't even imagine what they must be doing to him...Regardless, the Dogs will fight to the very last for him, so we're goin', wether ya' like it or not, Hærrad! You may be Jarl, but lets not forget who tought ya' how to swing that big Hammer..."
Saerirra had quietly sat while the Jarl and the Generals seated at the table spoke, memories of the past battle near Pinekeep and her plan running through her mind. Also regretting having been unable to rescue Sir Pebbles the Brave. Her face one of focus and slightly distant thought to anyone who happened to glance her way.
But one piece of information that came from these opening statements caught her attention.
"The other dragon clans were not the ones leading this endeavor? I am curious how the knowledge of a higher leader came to light."
"Yes, knowledge of who is pulling the strings would be very helpful. If we could take the fight to them we could disrupt the others." Seeing Edeleth come through the door Elixisys quickly sends a message to Chernobog.
Thought message:
"Watch the castle closely. This many leaders in one place would be a tasty target for our enemy."

Edeleth strides the hall. Not long ago, he would have been horrified at the thought of entering such a meeting in this state, still covered with tunnel dirt, in stained traveling clothes. Part of him still wanted to run for a wash and change into his court silks before addressing the Jarl.
"Jarl Hammerstorm" he bows. "You asked about the explosives and Wrathmaw Keep. When we returned to the castle last night, your loyal soldier Gaston--er, I don't know his last name--remained in the field to carry out our original mission of reconnaissance and sabotage alone. Today I returned to check on him, and he has deduced the location of Wrathmaw Keep from the movements of the enemy. As you recall, we came to warn you of a plot to blow up buildings, and had found an enemy stockpile of black powder. Gaston has been defending it, in addition to his other work. He deserves every commendation."
"I sealed the enemy's entrance into the black powder storage cave, and brought in some badgers to tunnel to Captain Shatterstone's camp. His soldiers now have access to the powder, and if the enemy can even remember where it is, they will have to burrow through solid stone to get to it. We should make use of it as soon as possible."
"I cannot speak for my entire team, of course," he adds, "but Sir Pebbles the Brave assisted us on our first battle against the Gnolls, and if my friends are willing, I would consider it an honor to be included in his rescue party."

Zyman is holding back, quietly taking in the information and processing. He just knew that darker forces were at play here, but he had yet failed to uncover the full truth. Unfortunately, the best way to get there would be to remain in the city and study the archives, or work with the Allied Intelligence Agency. Second to that, there was trying to hunt down the enemies and learn more about what drove them through combat, but the returns were never as certain, and almost always riskier.
