As an acolyte in the temple of Torm, Rorik worked hard to serve those around him. He was always putting others first and sacrificing his time, energy, and gold, to help. But one day, while in meditation, he heard a small voice. It told him of a small mountain town of Phandalin. Rorik was chosen to go and live, serve, and if need be protect, the people in this small out of the way mining town. He settled in and took a job as a smith in town, and while in his free time he did what he could to help out those in need around the town.

Fuller is one of those people who could’ve been anything, had he grown up under different circumstances. As it was, he’s still acquired skills and talents that will be useful all his days... which is good, because he seems to find trouble with unerring accuracy and ability.
He grew up in the slums. A tight knit community that relied on its local gangs to keep them safe from those who would take advantage of their weakness and poverty. If that meant you had to take an unsavory job or two, you did it and you kept your teeth together about it. Fuller has worked for them, too. Often he was the face for a bigger, more complicated job, but he is perfectly happy to knife a target if that’s what’s called for.
Fuller’s also picked up the odd bit of magic from a variety of spellcasters he’s worked with, or weapon work from “specialists.” He’s happy to learn it all.
Fuller is not a full time thug, however. He’s keeping an eye out for big jobs with big pay days. He’s not inclined to screw over anyone for money, but he’s got people to support back home. Kids, and a couple ex girlfriends. He’s not a great father, but he’s not going to let them starve if he can help it.

Name: Mordikaii (Character link: https://ddb.ac/characters/16268387/Dw22rt) Race: Warforged (I want to reflavoured this as a new type of undeath, more explanation below) Class: Cleric - Death Domain Alignment: Lawful Neutral Background: Hermit Personality Traits:
Personality Traits: I am utterly serene, even in the face of disaster. I’m oblivious to etiquette and social expectations.
Ideals: Logic. Emotions must not cloud our sense of what is right and true, or our logical thinking. (Lawful)
Bonds: Should my discovery come to light, it could bring ruin to the world.
Flaws: I am dogmatic in my thoughts and philosophy.
Backstory:
Mordikaii heard a call, and followed it to a lost and forgotten tomb.
Within, Mordikaii found the writings and equipment left by some long lost necromancer.
Mordikaii dedicated himself to studying what he found, and discovered that the necromancer was in communication of an entity called The Undying Master.
The necromancer was in the process of undergoing a transformation that the The Undying Master had given instruction for, but what had happened and where the necromancer was now, was unknown.
Mordikaii decided to attempt to make contact with The Undying Master, and was successful.
The Undying Master had made the original call to Mordikaii, and had chosen him to be his new harbinger.
Mordikaii listened to the words of The Undying Master, recording them and adding them to those left by the necromancer.
Once he was ready, The Undying Master directed Mordikaii in the process of going through the transformation.
Once his form was remade, and his soul was bound to The Undying Master, Mordikaii was sent out to spread the knowledge of The Undying Master.
For now The Undying Master is content to make contact with those who seek knowledge of necromancy. And to build a good name among the poor and downtrodden. But one day the whole world will be brought into peace and unity under The Undying Master, either willingly or by the embrace of undeath.
So Mordikaii has emerged from his long hermitage, and is now setting out to build a name for The Undying Master, and convert all who will willingly do so, to follow his master.
Notes on reflavour/etc:
First, I understand if you don't want to deal with a character like this, or any reflavouring, but I am submitting this idea, just in case you like it.
So the warforged, don't need to sleep (only rest), eat, drink or even breath. They appear to be immortal from old age (isn't known for sure), and are immune to disease and resistant to poison.
So the idea would be, that Mordikaii has undergone a transformation that has turned him into a new type of undead, encased in a new skin of metal, to keep his now undead body from falling apart, all over the place. Functionally he would just be a warforged, with all the same capabilities and restrictions. but thematically he would be a kind of undead, but a little different to normal undead.
His god, The Undying Master, is currently weak and needs followers to start to regain his power. I was thinking of him being kind of a cross between the lich king from warcraft, and the ideal masters from the elder scrolls, but a d&d "lessor deity" version. His purpose is to one day bring everyone into unity, either by choice or by undeath. But for now he is content to build his power base, and to do that he is not seeking to make war or subjugate anyone, but to try and attract them to his side.
So Mordikaii would be preaching the good news of The Undying Master, the promise of everlasting "life", and a future of peace through unity. He would pay particular attention to spell casters and in particular those interested in necromancy. Trying to entice them to The Undying Master, with promises that the Master gives knowledge freely to those who are faithful.
So Mordikaii is planning to do adventuring work to help the peoples of the world, to build a good name for his god, and to travel to meet people so he can spread the word of his god.
Left in the care of his grandfather because of his parents' nature of business as caravan masters, Morthos grew assisting him in his duties as a local high priest. If there's one thing he taught him, it was there are no bad people, only bad circumstances that made them do so. Years have gone by but his grandfather was always fulfilled and content, loved by the common folk. Longing to know how that felt, he asked for his grandfather's guidance. He then told him maybe it's for him time to experience the world and practice what he learned. Gifted with another name to stay true in his path, Open Morthos travelled to the nondescript settlement of Phandalin.
Perrin is a member of the Order of the Gauntlet, based out of Neverwinter. He has been sent to Phandalin in order to investigate the threat of the Redbrands gang within town, make sure that it has been defeated and there no evil has risen to take its place. He hopes to establish connection with the Order's contact in town (Daran Edermath in the Starter Set). Perrin is a follower of Torm, like many in the Order. He much prefers being in the city, utilizing the various connections that the Order and the temple to Torm afford him to root out evil.
(I'm assessing his personality, bonds and flaws to affiliate with both the Order and the temple of Torm.)
From the fringes of society, Brutus spent most of his time in the wild. His tribe keen to living off the land, while being minimally intrusive to nature. The tribe prays to the spirits of the forest to guide and protect their nomadic settlement. When coming of age, each member is sent on a quest to find their spirit guardian. Through adversity and experience each tribe member can forge their bond with nature, realizing their true potential for the benefit of the tribe. It is upon the completion of the quest that Brutus will be given his “true name”.

Kuhl Obliquay is a wanderer. Goatherd by trade, he spent much of his time while out in the pasture practicing monastic discipline. He has wandered far from his home far in the south, seeking resolution of a vision he had of himself deep in snow. He has come to Phandalin on his meandering route north.
Brother Cog came from Mithral Hall, where the devout follower of Marthammor Duin, he grew up amongst the clergy of the hall and learned a variety of stories and proverbs of the various dwarven religions. However, the works of Finder-of-Trails was absent. Eventually after several years being a clan and clergy scribe and evangelist he was tasked with finding it. The book was last noted to be in the hands of Holgrim Iornbeard who fell to orcs somewhere around Phandalin. There the Bard traveled from the north to return the tome and secure his name in the annuals of the hall as well as elevate Marthammor Duin, the Watchful Eye in Mithral Hall and the surrounding Dwarven settlements!
