As you enter the study you see before you a disarray of proportions you cant fathom. What was once an ordered neatness with books on shelves and papers on the desk, is now a mess. Books stand falling on to the floor. Papers litter the floor as if madness gripped the owner with such abandon.
The boy drops to his knees and begins to pray. Those of you with a tentative grip to magic can feel the dark energy of the house as if corrupting. As you look around the room you notice while most things are in disarray there is a painting of the missing girl that seems to be almost too perfect in the chaos. As if it wasn't touched.
As you move to look at the papers you see images of horrid creatures drawn. Some with three heads some with four arms and legs but no heads as you look at the torsos.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Zydalia looks to the praying boy. "You know about this dark energy?" she asks. "You said he was smitten with her, but a photo seems too much..."
Zydalia looks around for any sign of how the scuffle ended, for scuff marks on the floor, dirty fingerprints on a doorframe, anything that might show where they headed next.
Durmatl bares his fangs, showing both unease and disgust at the scene around him. He gets down on all fours, tail swishing behind him dangerously, as he intently looks around the room. Suddenly tiny points of light begin to appear around his claws, ever so slowly beginning to draw and etch runes and power lines in the air, an inch above the floor. Durmatl seems almost unaware, but there is a distance in his gaze that shows he is focused on a different plane of existence.
Zanryn squats amongst the detritus, picking a small handful of dirt and seeming to focus on pouring it, grain at a time, through his fingers. His face acquires a greenish-grey pallor, his eyes half close, whilst his breathing becomes slow and shallow.
Not sure it'll be of any use, but since I have it prepared for some reason, Zanryn will ritually cast Detect Poison and Disease.
Zydalia you notice there's a hinge on one side of the painting and on the other a button. You can also tell from the room the fight or what ever happened continued out into the foyer then to the library.
The boy nods. "I feel darkness here darker than i have ever felt. Something terrible happened here."
Zanryn you can detect nothing of poisons or diseases.
Durmatle as you cast the spell you feel a presance in the room. Its faint but even so it is a powerful presance You see red hads caressing your face in a vision as voices whispers in your head, "Join us...yes join us...you make a better host than the human..." You sense the voices are coming from the same entity but as the spell continues the presence disappears.
Zydalia inspects the hinge and button on the painting. She waves Zanryn over. "Have you ever seen something like this before? It looks like some kind of secret door."
Zanryn is forced, reluctantly, to admit that he has not. "It could be a secret compartment...or there could be something else behind. A portal perhaps."
Turning the the shaking boy, he questions, "Boy, do you know anything of this?"
HE has stopped shaking a fire burning in those eyes. "I told you i did it out of desperation when i was 13. No he is always there but patient is he." Turning he stares at the portrait. "He seems defeated. "His madness knows no bounds. I wish he would just have taken another to turn his affection on."
Zanryn welcomes Durmatl whilst eyeing the boy suspiciously, "It seems we are going to the office first."

Durmatl sneers. "Indeed, boy. Did you bring your patron here? Hmm? Did he find you here?" He moves up to the kid menacingly, teeth bared.

Zydalia rolls her eyes, looking back to the portrait. She inspects it for any sign that it might be, or trigger, a trap.
