Four sleeping stirges on the wall, four sleeping stirges, knock one down, it falls on the ground, three sleeping stirges on the wall.
The two that fell, don't die from their hits, but they do fall to the floor and that seems enough to kill them.
Let me end this ridiculousness here. :-)
The group quickly dispatches the oversized mosquitoes, leaving only the matter of climbing to the next level. Krull flaps up in the darkness, the wind buffeting him as he reaches the highest cave system. 240 feet above ground, the ladder is anchored just outside the entrance of this cave. The cave leads in, heat, light, and smoke emerges from the cave to be taken by the winds. Krull creeps forward. The cave continues straight, or opens to the right. To the right peering in, Krull sees four Pterafolk crouched around a fire which makes the cave hot and smokey. One sleeps, one is chewing on a bone, and two more seem to be using tools to carve a strange little totem from a femur. The one chewing on a bone uses a stick to poke at the fire a bit, adjusting the logs. Krull sneaks past down the passage, finding a cave room. There, laying in the cold and dark, is an Aarakocra male, his wrists and ankles and beak are all bound with rope. Just past him, further into dark back chamber, another chimney leads up into darkness.
Silas puts his warhammer away and makes his way to pitons he just hammered in and tying a security rope into it. I doubt he would be able to see Krull leave in the darkness, "So who's first up?"

If you want to secure the rope to the ladder's anchors, then the group will need to walk along a narrow ledge, around the corner, to get to where the bottom of the ladder is. Otherwise, banging pitons in has a chance of alarming the Pterafolk, but with the gusts of wind and whistling sound of it passing through the gaps in the stone, its possible to get away with it.

Yroc eyes the narrow ledge. It would be a chancy attempt, and if he fell he does not feel very secure with the group being able to catch his weight on a rope. So, he offers the opposite. "I can hold the rope for whoever wants to creep along the ledge to the ladder first to secure it there. I see myself slipping and falling to my death without some handholds to help keep me steady."
Kasaaptu after having shared the information gathered by Krull began wondering about the birdman. She had heard about them, but never really met one before. She also wondered where all the other Ptera-folk are..She tells Krull he can have the Femur carving the Ptera-man is making after we kill them.
Badger climbs on the back of Sickle as before, the spider clambering up the wall with a rope from Yroc. Soon enough they reach the top, and Badger carefully fastens the rope to a steel anchor. The shadows of the Pterafolk dance along the side of the hallway across from their cave.
With the rope secured, Yroc holds it as he skirts around the ledge heading towards the base of the ladder so he can begin climbing. As he gets to the corner and steps around on the ledge, a buffet of wind suddenly picks up, catching on his clothes and blowing at him. Roll Dex Save.

Yroc's blood turns to ice as his fingers grasp for any hand-hold, a sudden rush of panic he'd experienced before as a pup, climbing one of the bigger trees in the forest, that instant fear, with instinct having you claw at anything within reach. He'd survived then, hands scratched bloody from the rough bark. He'd survived. Then.

Oh crap. Where is Badger at this point? I'm assuming I've dismounted the spider and can watch Yroc's progress (or lack thereof) from the edge of the ledge? If so, and if Yroc slips and falls, Badger will cast Feather Fall on Yroc.
Badger, you're currently clinging to the wall, 5 feet below the edge of the top cave, which is 75 feet away from Yroc, so you're just out of range.
Yroc, gripping onto the rope slips as the wind blows him off his feet. He swings out away from the wall, spinning as he comes spiraling back towards the ledge.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Stone slipping from his fingers, Yroc grasps the only thing still keeping him tethered to the spire. The rope burns as his callused hands grip tight, and he is deathly silent, his throat choked with fear.
If Yroc is falling, Sickle will drop spider form and drop after him, grabbing the necklace around his neck and casting Feather Fall on both of them, and anyone else he can see just in case.
Yroc's out of range of Feather Fall, and I don't think Sickle can catch up to him. Badger could Misty Step though, to get within range, and then Feather Fall both.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
The massive powerful orc slips with the gust of wind, grabbing at the rope which slips through his fingers as he feels gravity and it's horrific effect begin to pull him down. The air is sucked from his lungs and his greyish green pupils dilate, his spinning body seeing the dark sky and then the darkness of the jungle canopy far below. As the rest of the party watches the orc slip and fall, failing to keep hold of the rope in his hands, the gnome leaps off of the back of the spider, sending himself plummeting into the air. With a woosh of magical energy he vanishes, appearing 30 feet further down the side of the pillar, still plummeting through the air, as he releases magical energy. Both the gnome and Yroc fall, but....instead of accelerating and vanishing in a moment, their falls both stabalize at a fast but safe rate, falling about ten feet every second. The party watches as the two fall to the ground over the next 20 seconds, before tumbling through the canopy to the forest below.
Yroc, you land on your feet, some leaves stuck in your clothes as the loam of the forest floor meets your feet. The gnome comes after you a few seconds, also gracefully reaching the ground near you. Your heart beating fast, you look up the tall stone tower. With a heavy sigh, you realize you may need to climb it once more.
Sickle, your necklace acts like a ring of feather fall, affecting you only, it doesn't allow you to cast feather fall.

As Badger looks back up at the stone spire, trying to locate the spot they just fell from, an image of six coins flashes into his mind with the phrase 'a fresh spring at the foot of the mountain'.
Although Badger's own heart is still in his mouth, he pats Yroc on the back (or tries to, probably actually patting him on the butt) and says, rubbing his nose: Urgh, perhaps orcs were never meant to fly.
Yroc breathes a curse, seeing his broken body splattered over the ground in his mind's eye. Shaking, he lays his eyes on the Gnome. "A blood-debt is made, Badger. You have my thanks."
He shudders, opening and closing his hands to bring his blood-flow back to his fingertips and to calm his nerves. "I suppose we still have a job up there, don't we?" he says, a weak smile playing across his face. With a shake of the head he makes his way over to the ladder, muttering under his breath. "That was almost the end of Yroc Grumbak. Glorious end to the Kra'k Toch."
It's perhaps 45 minutes later when Yroc and Badger re-emerge from the Stirge cave, 160 feet above the forest floor. The rest of the group stands up from where they've been sitting, brushing off the dust from their butts, and, try again. This time people tie the rope about them as they move across the ledge over to the ladder, and then climb the knotted rope next the ladder, using it for footholds when necessary. It's a slow, careful go, with the rope being swung back and forth by the spider at the top who assists the others in their climb.
Eventually the group is huddled, quietly hunched just at the mouth of the cave, 240 feet off the ground, listening to the crackling fire and the "shnick shnick shnick" of a Pterafolk carving in the cave to the right.

" we can send Krull here to dance around and distract the Pteras and some of us can run to attack from across the cave to block off their escape to the chimney and the others can attack from this side keeping them from fleeing out this way and warning any others up higher?" Kasaaptu offers up.
