You walk into a vast open area right off the busy street of Waterdeep's High Road. The place looks too big to exist in the building as it looked from outside, and that is just this one room, you spot several doors leading back into other places in the building. Sitting, standing, pacing, and meandering around the area are an assortment of beings ranging from those who look like they should be sitting outside with a begger's bowl in hand to those in clothing that marks them as part of the very uppper crust. There are warriors, spellcasters, and an entire assortment of differing individuals throughout those who you see in the chamber. A few of them are humans, but there are other races, some that you probably have never seen before. You spot several sitting areas, some with comfortable-looking couches, others with tables and chairs, and yet others with just pillows or rugs laid out on the floor. There is not a single window to be seen, and the walls are lined with statues and paintings of a variety of themes ranging from dragons to knights, with all of them related to adventuring in some way. A large sign on the back wall says 'Company of the Dragon Headquarters." Under that it says: "Recruitment Office."
Sitting at a desk near the back wall, under the large sign, is a being that looks like a human female. Upon closer inspection you can tell that she is actually an Envoy Warforged. She wears a modest dress and gives you a friendly smile as you walk up to the desk.
"Hello there." She says looking you over briefly. "If you have the ability to write, then please take a piece of parchment, a quill, and an ink well and write down your name, your race, your occupation (class and background), how long you have been doing this occupation (Level,) and what you have done before this (backstory.)" She nods to a stack of parchments, a bowl of quills, and a line-up of ink wells, all sitting on her desk. "If you are unable to write, then I can help you fill out the details." She gives you a helpful smile, letting you know she in no way judges you if you are illiterate. If she needs to do the writing she lifts up one arm, a clipboard snapping out and then taking a quill from a compartment in that same arm, she starts to write things down as you relate them to her. Once the details are written down, and she has a chance to look it over, she gives you a smile of approval. "Thank you. Please feel free to make yourself at home in the waiting area and I will make sure management gets this right away." She nods to the large open room with the multiple sitting areas and then puts the parchment into a slot on her desk. It slips out of sight and is gone. She then turns to the next being in line.
*********************
This is going to be like nothing at least I have done, or seen done, before. I will be running a variety of modules, and will be using this 'Recruitment Office' as my place to pull players from. I am hoping to have several groups going at once, and am seriously looking forward to seeing if anyone out there is up for this sort of thing. Everything will be started out from this recruitment sign-up, and will be run along the lines of an Acquisitions Incorporated game, with The Company of the Dragon being the organization. It will be completely up to the players as to what they do, with the company putting out several options of places to start, then running through that module for the group. For instance, the company might come to the group they have picked and offer them three different options ranging from Dragon of Icespire Peak, Out of the Abyss, or Sunless Citadel. The group would have to decide which they wished to do, and that would be the start of their adventure. (I am not saying the above three would be the ones offered, just an example.)
This forum will be left open, with additional groups started as more people sign up in the recruitment office. I would like to have groups between 6 and 8 people, but am willing to run smaller groups if we need to do so for a bit until more people sign up. Forums will then be generated where those groups will go through their modules and continue on if they wish into other things, continuing the story as long as their is interest, and even adding in other players if we need to as we go along.
Please be aware that there is going to need to be requirements as to how often you need to be available for the game. If you cannot put time to this then don't put your name in the hat. Everyone has times they have things come up and cannot play, but I expect people to normally be able to post daily, understanding that things do come up and will be taken into account.
Options for characters are as follows.
No homebrew. Any other DND Beyond option is allowed. Ability scores can be rolled, using the Dice Roller in the forum here (4d6 reroll 1s and drop lowest), or be point buy. If you do not like your rolls then you are free to change to point buy after seeing them.
I wanted to put a section here on starting level. I want to get an idea of what people want to do for starting level, which is why I put that in the first section above. I may ask you to change that if you are picked for a game, so that we can start out at a certain level. For instance, if we are doing the Mad Mage, then all of the players should be 5th level, but, if we are doing Dragon of Icespire Peak, then characters should be 1st level. If you are set at doing a specific level please make that very clear in your post.
Backstory: Growing up in the wilds with his tribe Reginald enjoyed going on adventures with is friends and hunting trips. His group always came back with the best spoils and was revered in the tribe for his heroics. Then one day as he was out foraging for food a terrible storm swept the area. He sheltered in a cave until it swept its way through and when he returned to the village it was nothing but ruin but he could not find anyone left in the village. He searched for any clue of what happened to them but they were all just gone.
He gathered what belongs he had left and eventually made his way to Waterdep and joined the military as it offered food and shelter. Because of his skill he rose through the ranks and was even given some new technology in the way of a pistol to help defend the city and became quite proficient with it. After retiring from the military he became restless and decided to join the ranks of all the adventures he had heard stories about so confidently answered the call from the "Comapny of Dragons" and is now waiting in the lobby to hear if they will have use of his skills.

Rurik was not much more than a child when Torm called to him. There was a dream of many stories and faces. Upon awakening from that dream, Rurik was left confused. His parents took him to the temple, and it was there that he found out more about his calling. The temple leaders took him in and trained him. Years of training as an Acolyte forged Rurik into a strong Paladin, to go out and fight corruption wherever he may find it. His passion for helping people took him everywhere, and finding a job using his skills as a blacksmith, helped him provide.
Class: Wizard (any level that fits the group, headed war magic at level 2 though)
Background: Soldier. Disillusioned with the Lich Queen's endless rule, he has left the rest of the Githyanki behind to seek a new life, lived for himself. However, years of combat and training have left him ill-suited for most other careers so he's trying to find a new life here.

Name: Orgen Shield-Breaker
Race: Dwarf
Class: Fighter
Level: any
Back Story:
Training to become a soldier in the Dwarven armies Ogren joined his city's version of scouts. These scouts are sent far and wide searching for general trouble that could affect the Dwarven nations. They way they achieve this can vary, but Orgen decided to become an adventurer. This allowed him to travel across lands easily without raising suspicion but also allows him to help out folks who are in need.
Dezlo was born into a kobold warren in service to a black dragon. Like their patron, most of the warren had dark scales and eyes, but Dezlo had the great misfortune to be born with a mutation; her scales glinted a bright orange, and her eyes were a pale blue. Perturbed by the strange new addition to its followers, the dragon wasted no time in driving the young kobold out, wishing the eyesore gone as fast as possible. From this, Dezlo could only draw a few simple conclusions.
Firstly, she "knew" that dragons ever really went out of their way to throw out threats, and threats usually only meant adventurers or other dragons. As she wasn't an adventurer (at least not then), so she must, of course, be the other option - a particularly brightly colored and small dragon. She wandered a great many years after this revelation trying to decide what to do about it, before taken under-wing by a particularly charitable adventuring group and taught the very basics of their trade (their own paladin had a soft spot for collecting pets and companions it seemed). Dezlo has long since parted ways with her benefactors, but now wishes to seek out adventures of her own in the world to spread both her renown, help those that need it, and to garner a hoard of her own.
After all, it would be the draconic thing to do.

Previous comment posted while I was editing it to format correctly but this one should be correct oof.
Background (Haunted One): For decades already members of Alek's family bore the tainted blood of a relationship which one of his ancestors had with an otherworldly being. For most of them this curse meant a life bordering insanity, but for a rare few, like Alek himself, it meant the ability to bend magic to their will. Until recently Alek lived in a small village outside of Neverwinter, where no one really knew of his potential. Growing restless with the rather reclusive life he lead up North, Alek decided it was time to see the world and somehow redeem the curse that haunted his family for so long.
Preferred Starting Level: Whatever you deem necessary!
Backstory: Palisade was built by a conclave of gnomish artificers to serve as both a bodyguard and companion. From the time of his creation he was trained by the other guards hired by the gnomes to fight, showing the most apptitude for heavier weapons due to his large size. Due to the nature of his being he did not think on the years he spent with them, continuing to serve even as the rest aged around him. Once the gnomes either grew old and passed on or left due to a wish to learn new things, the Warforged was given freedom to do as he wished once the last of the conclave left.
With little knowledge of the outside world and a wish to continue his former purpose, Palisade continued to fight. Eventually he learned to do it for money in order to pay for the upkeep of his body and his weapons, slowly becoming a freelance mercenary. While he would occasionally work with others he became known in the region he kept to as a solo warrior for hire.
When work became scarce he moved on and continued to take jobs from notice boards, merchants or anyone else that would pay him. As time passes he found himself in Waterdeep where he made his way by working as a bodyguard as he had during the time after his initial creation. Growing board of this he heard of the jobs being offered and went to the office to sign up.
Prefered Level: When possible I like to play at level five and a above but have no problem playing at lower levels.

Well, those are some special scores.
Character: Secundus Thrormson,
Race: human (107)
Class warlock, Pact of the Chain Great Old One
Background: Noble
Preferred Level: 1
Backstory: When Secundus was a young, spoiled noble, he burned through much of the money bequeathed to him by his family gallivanting around the forgotten realms, ultimately hiking to a ruined temple that the local superstitious guides would locate, but not travel to with him. Upon his arrival, he heard a voice coming from the stones, offering him wealth, power, and freedom from death by disease or old age. In return, Secundus would rebuild this temple, and others, to the voice's exact specifications. Also, if Secundus did die, his body would be forfeit to the unnamed entity he had bargained with. Young and stupid, Secundus agreed. He did indeed grow rich, and with some minor arcane abilities that he primarily used to bed women and win at cards, and he did indeed build the temples he had promised. However, as 20s turned to 30s, Secundus realized that he had gotten freedom from death, but not freedom from aging. Much of his 50s and beyond were spent trying to find a way to reverse the aging process, but all that Secundus got out of it was frustration and the loss of most of his family estate. Now old and decrepit, Secundus is still trying to find a solution, before the pain of old age becomes too great, and he gives up his body to....whatever his patron has planned. In the meantime, he has turned to adventuring in the hopes of finding new rumors, with the help of whatever people he can hire to cart him around.
Lupin was a slave of quite powerful but old wizard (lets call him Harold or MR WIZARD). For years he was working as his assistant and guard. He did his best to learn from his "owner" and few times almost died in their experiments or brawls in some forgotten dungeons.
But as Mr Wizard got old he started to make mistakes. One day he forget to put protection spell on himself...And this was what Lupin was waiting for.
He grabbed his master by the throat...and they renegotiate his contract...the new agreement was signed with blood...mainly Mr Wizard blood.
As a newly promoted "senior wizard assistant", he can takes some part-time jobs. And this is how he ended in Dragon HQ

Dormark Calling of Strahd (warforged cleric) 4
Ability Scores: 15 15 7 15 14 12
Name: Dezlo [Character Sheet]
Race: Kobold
Class: Paladin
Background:

Name: Alek Reynn (charackter sheet)
Race: Human
Class: Sorcerer (Shadow Magic)
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Background (Haunted One): For decades already members of Alek's family bore the tainted blood of a relationship which one of his ancestors had with an otherworldly being. For most of them this curse meant a life bordering insanity, but for a rare few, like Alek himself, it meant the ability to bend magic to their will. Until recently Alek lived in a small village outside of Neverwinter, where no one really knew of his potential. Growing restless with the rather reclusive life he lead up North, Alek decided it was time to see the world and somehow redeem the curse that haunted his family for so long.

Name: Palisade
Race: Juggernaut Warforged
Class: Fighter
Background: Mercenary Veteran
Level: Any that is needed.
