Happy quickly packs his belongings and joins the rest of the group.
He says to Arlo: “You have a good point. We should find the other team. Sieghart could you tell in which direction the goblins fled? Maybe they have their basecamp in these ruins.”
He squints his eyes for a better look at the ruins.
Sieghart, make a survival check to pick back up where you left off. Right now the roofs are blocked by the canopy, but the mountain peak is visible. Going off that alone is not quite enough though.

Going off the time of day and your view of the mountain peak, you begin the group's march in a northerly direction. The rolling hills you've been hiking through begin to taper off to a more flat terrain, making it much easier on the legs. At about noon time everyone begins to catch the unmistakable scent of smoke wafting through the trees. Something else you begin to hear is a tinging noise, like a hammer on anvil sound. The sound can be heard for 30 seconds and then quiet for 2 or 3 minutes. The noise also sounds far enough away to be at the point in which you'd pick it up over the sound of forest.
Quickly thinking about your days travel, you come to the conclusion that the location of the roofs should be near, although the forest is too dense to see anything that resembles a building.
Keeping your eyes peeled, you all creep forward. The sparsely dense forest floor transforms into a tangled mess of underbrush. It's not impassable, but it slows your progress down some and greatly reduces visibility. Going forward the sounds of the metal on metal noise grow louder, the smell of smoke intensifies to more of the sense you get when you were back in Fort Paxton, you begin to smell... bread, you catch the sound of a door opening and closing. You push a little further and discover the roofs of two two story buildings. It looks maintained. You creep a little closer to the edge of the brush line to get a better look... You come to a border of chest high grass that runs into the two stone buildings with a 50, or so, foot gap between you and the structures. Looking left and right you see more buildings are present in a line and alternate between one story and two, stone and wood in make. The gap between the buildings before you is around 15 ft wide. You see the source of the metal on metal noise coming from a blacksmith hammering away at something across the street from the two story buildings. His back is to you. You see one person walk by along the road, then another. This should be the "ruins" of Vil'malish, although it is anything but in appearance. This seems like any populated location you've ever come across.
If anyone is wanting to pay particular attention to any sort of military presence, simple town guards, fortifications, or basic defenses, you see none while you are observing.

Catherine's eyes widen in confusion at the sight before her.
"What is this...." she mutters, scanning the simple settlement before her. This land was supposed to be deserted. Cursed, left to ruin. Had they somehow come across the other settlement of mainlanders?
"Well, they are not.... goblins. Should we approach?" she says to her companions, crouching down to stay hidden for the time being.
Sieghart felt confused. How come no one from the Empire noticed this settlement after one whole year of occupation? More importantly, how was there any civilization in this lost land? He tried wiping his eyes in case his mind was playing tricks on him. Observing from their hiding spot, he tried to see if there was any sign of the other team. He put away is bow, but kept his hand on the hilt of his sword.
‘‘I think we can try to move forward. If anything, they don’t look hostile.’’

She was obvious about exiting the brush line, but you all lose track of her quickly. A couple minutes go by, then 5 minutes. A tinge of anxiety starts to grow as you think she's been gone for too long to take a "quick" look.
Something begins to rustle the bush to your all's left. Preparing for any manner of threat, it becomes rapidly apparent that it is Nox. She looks at you all with a mixed emotion on her face.
"It appears to be safe... but I can't help but think that something is off. No one I saw was interacting with anyone else. Everyone kept their eyes looking straight ahead and they all walked... stiffly. I don't know how else to describe it. They all look like run of the mill civilian, but they were off putting. To me at least. Then again this society could just be highly conservative and private for all I know. Long story short it looks safe, but I have a feeling we should stay on high alert."
She stands up tall, clearly a bit relieved at being able to do so, and strides up towards the settlement. Should she attempt to converse in Sul'dalian, she wonders? No.... not unless these strange people didn't speak Common.
"Ho there!" she calls out as she approaches the nearest occupant of the little village. "I am Catherine of Crossgate, exploring this land on behalf of the Kirsk Empire. What township is this?"

‘‘Stay on your guard.’’ Sieghart nocks an arrow on his bow and remains vigilant as he leads the group forward again.
(OoC: is the noise coming from the same direction as are rendez-vous point?)

"That may be wise," Catherine says to Nox. "What say the rest of us?"
''Sure. But be careful. If you need help, we'll be right behind you.''
Arlo nods.

"Then I say we approach and speak. If there is sorcery afoot, we'll not learn anything more of it by hiding and waiting," Catherine says.
“Aye. Catherine’s got it. We’ll have to get our feet in it eventually.”
Arlo will gesture to Catherine to lead on. “It’s your homeland, maybe you’ll have some pull.”

“This seems strange, but let’s take a diplomatic approach.”

Sieghart follows closely with a hand still on the hilt of his blade. This whole situation makes him feel uneasy.
