An hour passes and you all met up at the south gate, waiting in line to gather your weapons and gear from the guard station and make your way outside. The line for leaving is relatively short as opposed to the line for entering the town. As you wait your turn several things seem to draw your attention,.
First to a young Thyatian woman of medium height and build with flowing blonde hair and large expressive blue eyes enters through the gate and is received with noble applause by the guards. (any of you with proficiency in the religion skill notice that she is a cleric in service to the Church of Karameikos.)
Next to enter further down the entrance from the cleric is a group of youthful adventures ( A tall blonde haired man in studded leather armor armed with a longbow, a dark haired man dressed in chain and plate carrying a golden shield with a black griffons head on it, a young dark skin woman dressed in furs carrying a green quarterstaff, a young red head woman dressed in purple and violet traveling clothes and the thing that caught your eye is the youngest a boy of eight years old dressed in furs and leather with a horned helmet and a great club traveling at first with a small white pony but on a second look is a young unicorn.
When you finally get outside the gate you will be traveling south down the road following the Windrush (Waterolde) River, through forested hills and you should reach your destination in about four hours of travel (if the map is accurate about 10.8 miles), around five or six in the afternoon with about two hours before the first sun sets.

As your group walks along the road passing the occasional wagon full of cut lumber, or a merchant or farmer heading to or from Threshold, you all enjoy the day and the time to share stories and get to know one another a little better. As you near a bend in the road. Williard says "Here is the road that leads to the castle." as he points to a slightly overgrown trail. "and this one that we are on leads to Verge if we keep on it and round the bend."
Then a sound from around the bend reaches you all. "Help me! Help!" you hear a mans voice.

Thurmun mumbles under his breath, "Or I'll just skim a bit off 'is purse ta make tha diff'rence."
"I don't think this will be as simple as a mired wagon. I think someone is being attacked by some creature up ahead! We should act quickly to try to help them!"
Enzo agrees with Belorin, "Right! Belorin let go!" and immediately heads towards the calls for help. On hearing Daxori speak of creatures Enzo readies his mace and shield while still heading towards the calls for help.
As you round the bend in the road you all see a Cart tipped over on the road with a man hiding against the side, in front of the cart is a dead horse being eaten by a griffon.
Belorin runs along side Enzo, Readying his shield and warhammer. Belorin not much one for twiddling his thumbs when seeing someone in need.
Belorin starts running up and stopping about about fifteen feet from the cart and starts slamming his warhammer and shield together to grab the creatures attention and Belorin will ready him self with the dodge action.

The Griffon lifts its head up from its meal, with bits of bloody flesh hanging from its beak. Startled by the sound of running feat, jiggling armor and the loud banging of warhammer against shield the creature takes flight and circles around

On seeing the other head off Enzo bows his head in silent prayer for a successful journey then heads off to gather his gear and weapons.
After clearing the gates Daxori strikes out immediately along the southern road exclaiming happily,
"Come along friends! Today we take our first steps toward the adventure of a lifetime!"

That said, Daxori starts to dash around the bend.
"Let's go! Per'aps we kin save 'im... 'n earn a higher fee yet! Hee hee!"
Thurmun sprints off gleefully drawing his bow and looking for a hidden spot to pick off attackers.
