Gandria is a Kingdom settled on an island and consits of Alliances of the common races. Humans, Elves, Dwarfs, Halflings and Gnomes live together in peace. The rare Tiefling, Dragonborn and Half-orc are met with distrust, but not outright discrimination. The largest problem the folks of Gandria are facing are the Goblin and Orc attacks on the settlements of the Kingdom, but everywhere you go, you will find an inconvenience that can be solved.
Our adventure begins on the road westward from Pirn to the great forest. You all have met each other on the road. Now you are about a days travel away from Di‘lial, a small village on the outskirts of of the forrest and close to the swamp. On your way you pass a cart on the side of the road, abandoned. It seems to be there for some time as it sunk a few inches into the wetland beside the road. But it is not the only one, ahead there seems to be one more, and further down the road you see even more, 5 in about 2 hours of travel.
Kathleen looks around and the "graveyard" of carts sunk in the swamp. She asks the party, "So... what do you guys suppose happened here?" She steps closer to one of the sunk cart to take a closer look. She adds, "Do you think this is a place where carts just lose control due to swampy terrain and get abandoned? Or is this a place that's prone to bandits and raiders?" Kathleen's voice is loud, upbeat and bubbly, as usual.
Kathleen is very tall and bulky compared to an average elf, having a physique more common for a female human than a female elf. She stands 6ft 2 inches tall and weighs 175 lbs. She is clad in a white leather chest-piece, armbands and boots which she wears over her sleeveless grey shirt and grey leather pants. Her naturally fair skin is tanned in the sun from staying outdoors most of the time. She has blue eyes and long golden hair tied in a pony tail. She wears a cheap pendant made of metal that's been painted gold and decorated with stained glass that's posing as a gem. She is almost always smiling and seems to be in a good mood whenever she is outside.
Leelan begins observing the cart. He is looking for clues that might help him indicate what could lead someone to abandon a cart in the middle of the road. He inspects the inside of the cart to see if the contents are still there, their absence indicating a possible assault by highway bandits. He also looks around the cart for any signs of hostility that would support this theory. He also tries to look how deep the wheels have sunk in to try and evaluate how long the cart has been there. "Curious" he says. "How very curious, indeed." He turns to his two travel companions. "Could you be dears and help me look for clues?"
Leelan is a fairly aged, average-sized gnome. He stands at 3'5" and weighs around 40 pounds. He jas a receding hairline, covers it up with a beret. His face is adorned with well-groomed muttonchops and a monocle on his right eye. He wears a simple yet elegant leather armor over his white shirt. His tone of voice is indicative of an educated person. His smile speaks of his good nature and his mannerism is poised.
Kathleen says, "I'm on it!" quite enthusiastically. She carefully steps on the wetland with one foot, making sure that she won't sink. After that she uses her keen eye to help Leelan. She observes the cart from every angle she can safely inspect it from.
Johan Tallstone is tall, and strong. He has dark skin, with dark eyes, and a shaven head, which he shaves each night. He wears a shield and heavy armor, along with a heavy warhammer. His clothes are an expensive, shining dark leather beneath and over his armor with a broad, circular hat made of some kind of rain resistant fabric.
He sees the many carts, and whispers a prayer to himself, for the Vigilant’s Blessing. He follows with a prayer for Leelan. “May your eyes see as a creature of many worlds. May your mind cross the veil of ignorance, and make its home.” guidance
What Leelan finds quickly are some broken arrows sticking in one of the carts. They seem to be cheaply made, with stone tips rather than forged metal ones. One other has blood stains on the loading area. The carts are generally empty and, at first glance, contain nothing more than empty crates.
Leelan can roll investigation to find further information
As Leelan inspects the cart he discoveres something about the blood stains. one there are multiple red stains, but also one of darker, almost black colour. You figure out that they originate from human blood and blood of another creature, presumably og goblinoid nature. The Carts have definetly been attacked and plundered, nothing was left behind.
Generally all carts would suggest the same information, though not all show signs of a fight.
Leelan does not find any tracks left behind. what he does know however is that the last time it rained in there areas was 4 days ago. That in combination with the presence of blood stains leads to the conclusion that this attack was not longer than 4 days ago.
Leelan responds to Kathleen. "Well, all evidence points toward a group of goblinoid." He points at the puddle of dark blood. "Few creatures have blood of this shade. This theory is further supported by the presence of crude, primitive weaponry." He says as he presents one of the arrows.
He turns back to look at the cart and scratches his chin, inquisitively. "But to attack this many carts, their group must be quite sizable. What course of action do you suggest we take?"
Kathleen scratches the back of her head and says, "Well... a few goblins we can handle but if there are too many... Do you think the carts could have been attacked at different times? Anyway, I don't think we can exactly do anything at this time so maybe we should just try and pass quickly, stay alert for an ambush and hope we don't get attacked?"
The presence of blood, only on this one cart and the depts (how much they have sunken into the marshy terrain) of the cart do suggest attacks at different times.
With this information, he comments, ‘’As a matter of fact, the attacks do seem to have occurred at different times than the rest of the carts we’ve seen. This one probably goes back to...four days? Maybe we should continue on our way and alert the authorities of the next town we come across.’’

Taking Help action to help Leelan look for clues.

"I think the travelers who used these carts have ran into some measure of trouble. Simply dreadful! Maybe the perpetrators are still nearby."
Leelan begins looking for some trail that the raiders could have left behind. Blood, materials, footsteps, etc.
Kathleen comments, "So these carts were attacked? But there's so many of them. What do you think could have done something like this?"
(using the same investigation check)
Leelan does not find any tracks left behind. what he does know however is that the last time it rained in there areas was 4 days ago. That in combination with the presence of blood stains leads to the conclusion that this attack was not longer than 4 days ago.
“It is an awful lot of them for an ordinary attack.” Johan considers the information and likely causes.

Continuing your way, staying alert for danger, please roll perception checks
