(The characters are starting off in the Remnant's headquarters, during a series of mass protests from the Aedaerin people. The headquarters is located in the far South of the capital city of Andostead. Most of the protests are being held outside the palace wall, in the North.)
Heavy rain pours down on the empty cobblestone streets. The sounds of the angry people barely audible through the din. Winter cold seeps through the window, chilling the occupants of the abandoned residential building in which you are standing. Despite the building’s neglected looks, it is the headquarters for The Remnant, the few who dare to challenge Vonthal’s rule of Andostead. Dozens of rebel soldiers mill about, anxiously awaiting their orders.
The leader of The Remnant, Althea Corlinn, approaches the rebels and characters.
“For those of you who aren’t fully briefed yet, I have an announcement to make, everyone else needs to report to Jalin Amafrey.”
She turns to the remaining troops. “Our spies have reported a shipment of crowd control devices are being delivered today. Vonthal plans to use this equipment to disperse the crowds that are protesting in the city squares. I, and the other commanders believe this is a good chance to disrupt the plans of Vonthal and get some much-needed gear. The caravan is heavily guarded by the Black Talon, so we need to be careful. Jalin will be leading the attack, he is a capable soldier, listen to him. Report to him as soon as you can."
A man sits in the back of the room dressed in a deep, almost black, purple robes. A shemagh leaves only his eyes visible as they dance from person to person within the room. He sits back with his arms folded continuing to scan the room as Althea speaks.
After Althea finishes a dwarf gets up from his stool. Wearing some leather pants and boots that most folks would of thrown away already. At his side 2 small axes dangle from beltloops. His belt is actually not that bad quality compared to the rest of his outfit. Wearing an old ragtag cloth shirt with short sleeves, partially torn and old bloodstaines still shown. It has clearly seen better days as well.
On one of his shoulders a tattoo is visible depicting a dwarven skull wearing a helmet. His large beard covers half of his torso, his mustache growing out to also reach his beard, except he has small little ropes keeping strains of hair together and seperating them from the rest of the beard.
As he gets up he reaches down for a large axe he placed on the ground and walks forward through the gathered rebels. Most gladly step aside, not just because of the gruff look of the dwarf. Also because he could clearly use a bath as the rebels place a hand in front of their face as they step aside.
Good! I could use some equipment. Where can I find this Jalin fellow? He asks as he walks, not towards anyone in particular.
A fairly lean, though athletic-looking, man watches the dirty dwarf walk forward. The man has blond hair and wears clothing commonly associated with riverboat sailors. He has a dagger at his waist, and a component pouch across from it. He gives a shrug and steps up behind the dwarf, wrinkling his nose a bit. "I'll accompany you my good dwarf." He says with a nod. "Name's Kern."
"Jalin is in the meeting hall, down that way." Althea points down the dark and neglected hallway to a door at the end. Voices can be heard coming from the other side.

A newcomer to The Remnant, he is only known to some as Cayden. As he walks, those close by to him would notice him holding a small stone in his left hand, rolling it around between his fingers.
Cayden enters the next room, making a point to check behind him, and then takes a position behind a man he overheard introduce himself as Kern and a dwarf.
Kelgar looks behind him and up a bit at Kern. Eyeing him a moment. Alright, we arent the same size so i suppose thats not a problem. The names Kelgar.
He then follows Kern to the meeting hall.
Kelgar puffs his chest taking a deep breath, Soo... which one of you is Jalin? I heard he be leading the attack. He says loud enough for anyone in the room to hear.
The meeting hall, with it's molding and peeling walls, is filled with other soldiers, two teenage children, a dwarf, and a tall dark-skinned human.
At the sound of his name, the dark-skinned man approaches. "Hello, you must be the new recruits. My name is Jalin Amafrey, I'll be your commander, this is Xander," He gestures to the dwarf. "or as everyone calls him, "X", and Connar, and Elissa." He finishes pointing at the children. "Here's the plan, New Vonthal is sending four wagons worth of non-lethal control devices, shock grenades, clubs, stun darts, and the like. We are going to steal those devices today. I have around five men per wagon, and could use some extra manpower." He points to a table, showing a map of a large city street, Liberty avenue, (a fitting name for what's about to happen) and three X marks on side streets that connect to Liberty, . "These are the three attack points, I want around ten soldiers per attack point to hit the wagons. Take your pick, one will attack the middle, one the front wagon, and one the rear wagon."

"Seems like a solid plan." Kern says with a nod. 'I am not much of a fighter, but I can aid the attacks with magic." He glances at the street map. "Is there a vantage point where I can position myself to aid in the three attacks?"
Cayden weaves through the crowd gathered around the map, and looks it over. After he takes a minute to decide, he looks up at Jalin and points down to the middle X.
Kelgar nods and pushes some of the other soldiers aside that are blocking his view of the map. Alright lads, move aside, let me get a look.
Hearing Kerns remark that he will want a vantage point.
Hmm.. looks like yer in luck then. Just stick with me and ill keep them busy while you can use yer twirly lights and such.He pauzes a moment. You'd be missing out on all the fun from back there though, i like to get all up close and personal. He lets out a short laugh hehe.. Now you got me all excited, can we attack them now?
(Kelgar will join the others for the middle wagon)
How far away will Kern be from the battle(s) if he is on the building?
Looking to the dwarf. "I need to be close to the fighting, but not in it." He explains. "My magic is no good if I get killed before I can cast a spell."
"Ready whenever you are." Kern agrees with a nod. He takes a moment to memorize the map a bit longer, then will follow the others to get into position.
Kelgar holds his greataxe horizontally starting to move to the door using the shaft to push other soldiers out as he is doing this. Come on, you heard the man. Lets get to fightin.
Jalin leads them through the wet empty streets, through dark alleys, and cobblestone roads. More than once they had to dodge a Talon patrol. Finally, they reach the ambush point, just in time. Jalin sends everyone to their post, and takes position in the middle.
The sound of several approaching wagons reach your ears. The nearby soldiers clench their weapons with white knuckles, several are pale in the face. Jalin calls out: “Hold, wait for the first wagon to pass, we’ll take the second. Wait for my signal.” A little over a dozen Black Talon dressed in dark clothing guard the wagons, all equipped with crude Vonthan firearms, one Black Talon, sitting in the cab of the first wagon, has a blood red cloak, and is carrying a much larger rifle. The wagons slowly amble by, the sound of the wheels mixing with the rain.
