Nanoc's eyes widen as he takes a better look at Evan. "Welcome priest. Sorry, I thought you were a plain warrior like me, what with all that iron you're wearing. Now I feel a lot better about this whole thing."
Then he turns to Okkar and asks, "How far to this mine of yours? Will I need my horse, or do we go on foot?"

"I have a horse," replies Nanoc, nodding his head enthusiastically instead of replying in cant. "His name's Smoke and he and I have seen quite a few miles together."

“Horses will make the trip faster,” Okkar says. “There are a few outside that could be rented from the trading post, or even purchased outright. I mapped out the course to the mine. It’s a two day journey if we don’t run into any trouble on the way. Towards the end there’s a bit of a climb, we would have to tie off the horses, and then there’s the mine just a short distance from there. Or we could leave the horses and go on foot. It adds a day or two getting there, but we may want to have the option to retreat from the mine and rest up. Not worrying about climbing down to check on the horses could make that a simpler matter. I prefer to bring them myself, better to have supplies on hand.”
“The trading post next door sells tents, bedrolls, rations, climbing gear, all the essentials,” Okkar adds. “I would finance that as well but I’m afraid I used the last of my reserves getting you all here, and of course, renting o it this palatial meeting place.” Okkar prods an exposed splinter on the table, smiling ruefully.

[OOC: I gathered that. Would Nanoc know if the fact that his 'holy symbol' central on his necklace is actually the shed scale of a white dragon be a problem with Evan's religion?]

During this whole conversation, kerina has been doing that thing where she went to go leave but stood awkwardly just outside the door. Now, she sticks her head in. "are we going or not? I haven't had a fight in ages and I'm anxious to kick some stony dwarf butt!"
“I am anxious as well, Kerina, but your comrades questions are prudent. My brethren and I went in with gusto, thrilled to find The Knuckle. They paid for that with their lives,” Okkar says.
"Yeah, let's take the horses," says Nanoc, agreeing with Okkar. "Smoke don't mind carrying around all the stuff I've accumulated over my travels, and I wouldn't feel right leaving him somewhere strange."

OOC: There is no specific conflict between the beliefs of the Seren tribes and the worship of the Sovereign Host, they are simply different systems of priority. The Dark Six pantheon is specifically opposed to the Sovereign Host, and the Silver Flame can be a bit overzealous, but Seren is closer to animism with actual dragons (or so I interpret it). It might be curious, a thing to discuss, but not overly offensive.

Okkar nods his agreement. “Very good, Nanoc. If we flee the mine to rest outside, I might ask that you be the one to climb down to see to the horses. Maybe we can take turns in that. I would prefer we handle it slow and steady this time, to avoid more casualties. The mine has been undiscovered for decades. We can ensure we do this the right way, it just means being deliberate.”
Taraven says, “It looks like I may need a few things for the journey...and a horse as well. I should probably go get them before we depart. Would anyone like to join me?” As she walks toward the curtain to go to the trading post.
“Ah. Thank you, Galtheon.” I walk out with him to the trading post. Once there, I ask the group of dwarves, “Hello there. Who do I speak with regarding purchasing some supplies and renting a horse?” I try to stay this as cheerful as possible after remembering all the looks I got coming in.

Evidently their interest in making a sale outweighs their prejudices regarding elves. The dwarf with the prosthetic leg slowly stands and says, “What’ll it be? We’ve got all kinds of mining and travel gear. Dried jerky rations. A few healthy horses outside you can rent for 5 gold a week, or even buy outright.”
OOC They have most standard gear from the phb with the exception of weapons.
“I need a bedroll, tent, and a potion of healing, if you have it. Is the dried jerky any good? And about the horses, how much would it be to buy one outright?

"Happy to," replies Nanoc with regard to the horses. "Will we need to take food for them, or is there enough food in the area for them to eat if with hobble them with a long lead?"
