As you all move down the stairs you see no traps, and you are all looking hard. Slowly down the stairs, little pressure by little pressure, blowing dust to look for trip wire, and find nothing.
You enter the first chamber. And as you reach the center of the room, the 4 stone knights all move swinging their glaives from a rest position to a ready position, they take one step forward, and in unison they say.
"Why are you here?" This is repeated 4 times then the say "Worthy" and remain at the ready.

Bones puts a hand on Gorm's shoulder to stop her and raises a hand for everyone to stop. He then scans the room more intently to see if he can identify anything that might aid them in passing without combat with the statues - such as phrases or symbols (Investigation: 7).
Korba bristles a bit at this saying "Why would undercommon have any specific connection with the undead?.."
"There have been several documented cases that link Undercommon with the dark arts. However the link is more coincidental. Speaking Undercommon does not lead to necromancy," Bones replies to Korba.
"I'm sure there have been just as many dark arts practitioners speaking Common as well." Korba replies, adding "In the end though I'm curious to see what that elegant script will say when we return."

"My point precisely, friend," Bones nods at Korba's remark, "Simply put, the script is not known to us, some of which include Undercommon and Abyssal. Therefore cannot be amongst the usual languages associated with the undead."

With the four statues seemingly activated, Bones snaps Cinder up above one of them to see if he can make out anything from over the other side of the room (Cinder's perception: 8).
We are in center of first room. So far we are only searching the room and the statues for clues with our eyes, remaining where we are. The only movement has been the spider familiar...
Quietly, to the rest of the party, Gorm says “I think we need an answer... These stone guardians seem old, not something the Ingon guy made. They’re probably protecting the graves down here? Maybe we tell them we’re here to visit and pay respects to the dead?” Gorm shrugs, indicating she’s just guessing. “Whatever we do, stay ready!”
"I had the same thought, Gorm," Talinian says just as quietly. "But who should respond? I think Olivia should be the one as the statues look elvish. Olivia," he says, turning to her, "what do you think? Should you say we are here to venerate or revere or something like that?"
"Not... that... clearly..." Gorm shrugs, not understanding but not really caring too much either. "But not knowing who made them there is no way to know how they feel about anyone or any race. Still, we have to do something...."
Gorm takes two steps forward from the rest of the group and then bows respectfully. "We are here to make sure all is well. We mean no disrespect to the dead, or to you, but one who does has been in the area. We're trying to stop them from defiling those who deserve their rest."
((They all get surprise attacks outside of initiative? It’s not like we weren’t expecting they may attack... but alright...))
Gorm is hit by the first statue, letting out a “whoop• as she take a big hit. She spins, trying to predict the next attack but the second statue strikes her as well. Gorm falls to the floor, unconscious.
((If opponents attack with advantage when one is unconscious or something, C and D may need to be re-rolled.))
Talinian kept his eyes open as he moved behind the others.

Talinian joins in, looking for any clue that might help them pass, and dredging through his arcane training for anything which might be on point.

Following the group down Korba summons his glaive and will keep an eye out to the rear of the group while the others explore ahead.

You find nothing that would "deactivate" them. From Cinder's view point they are stone statues, nothing else.

"Is Korba not the most elvish amongst us?" Gorm asks, scanning the figures she stands with.
"He is, but he is clearly of Drow descent and we do not know how those who crafted the statues felt about the Drow," Talinian replied.

As Gorm steps forward all 4 stone knights close in on her and attack.
A Attack: 18 Damage: 10

So when you stepped forward you initiated combat, I did forget to ask what everyone else does.
I will say that they do not get advantage because all 4 attacks would be at about the same time, so you are falling as they are swinging.
So now what does the rest of the party do?
