Crondar can observe that Hewen appears to be seated in some sort of chair with wheels reminiscent of a wagon on either side. He also either has extremely stubby, short legs in relation to the rest of his body or he's missing a portion of each of them. Jumping on someone as great and glistening as he seems like it might be quite the feat... then again, who knows? Maybe dude's just lazy and likes to be carried.
Gruk takes the initiative and moves first down the stairs. He may be a little distracted by his now-glowing tunic, but it seems like everything is fine! Past the landing with the lit pebble is about sixty or so more feet of stairs before stone gives way to an actual room.
This room is dark and smells like a pet store. It's all wood chips and warm poop down here. A bunch of bats flap around the room. They look harmless.
Ten feet ahead and to the right is a closed, wooden door. The room is about 25'x10' with about half of that bisected by the stairs.
Well jumping would be rather impossible for me, big guy. I had some incident with blades that now prevent me from doing so. So either someone has to carry me or im gonna downhill that stair like a fool.
Seeing the +4 modifier in Crondar's Strength, the DM decides not to make him roll to carry Hewen and his chair down the stairs until a possibly more comical and less obvious moment.
Please establish marching order as everyone proceeds down the stairs into the bat room.
"Psh," Torra says and shakes her head to flick the hair out of her eyes. "One such as myself does not go down first. Nor will I be last. No, I shall remain in the middle and provide the light in the darkness."
In Zhox's obnoxious voice he volunteers "I can be towards the front!" And he pulls out his Rapier and swings it a few times around as if sword fighting someone.
From this I am going to reasonably intuit the order is:
Gruk
Zhox
Torra
Crondar + Hewen
Rhodes
No one has successfully been stealthy so the 'bats' descend upon the party with a mighty cacophony of squeaking! In point of fact, there are 7 'bats'. 3 go for Gruk, being big and foremost, 2 go for Zhox, and 2 descend towards Torra for now as they are each the first to come into the room.
Roll initiative.

'Bats' Initiative: 11
The 'bats' are about 10ft overhead until their turn. Anyone may successfully identify these creatures with a DC 12 Nature check as a free action for their first turn.
Hewen, you readily identify these creatures as Stirge. With a 22 you know getting bitten by these creatures is real bad as they tend to suck whoever they latch onto dry.
You also know they're incredibly fragile with 2 HP.
Anyone else that succeeds the DC 12 Nature check will know the same about the identification and special attack. At DC 17 you know their hit-points (in spoiler above). Or someone might be generous enough to say as much on their turn.
Rhodes, anticipating we will eventually get off our a**es and descend, prepares to fall in place behind the biggies in the group and start the show.
Rhodes - Half-elf, Warlock - The Lost Dungeon of Rickness
Si the Demander - Hill Dwarf, Cleric - The Princes of the Apocalypse

Crondar Will Grab Hewen and carry him down the stairs....
Rhodes will follow behind, making faces at Hewen, but somehow still paying close attention to what lies ahead.

I will go first With my greatsword drawn and at the ready for any enemies that could ambush us.

Well Hewen is with Crondar, wherever he is.
I do appreciate that, big one! I'll try to repay the favour.
