Torra nods in approval and joins. "A rest is good for your health. Now please, while we do this, please everyone try taking hold of these crystals. They will help you focus your energy speed up the healing of your wounds." She begins to pass out tiny little crystals.
"Now that everyone has one, please close your eyes and listen to the soothing sound of my voice..." Toara says and goes through a whole session. Then takes all the crystals back. "Now that first meditative session is free. Each additional session will cost one 5 copper each or can prepay for five for the low price of 2 silver."
You decide a short rest couldn't hurt, but these stairs next to what seems to amount to a cellar full of poop would probably not make for a restful 8 hours.
An hour passes without anyone coming through the closed door. Everyone who wishes to roll their hit dice can do so and those that regain spells on a short rest regain them.
ETA: I mean... if you really feel like those bats kicked your collective a**ses, I guess it's early enough you could also decide to leave the dungeon and take a long rest in your various homes/inns/etc. Legit potions are still above your paygrade with the loot you've gathered so far, though there might be a snake-oil merchant nearby willing to sell you tonics that supposedly do the same thing.
But if the majority of the group decides a short rest is fine and press on, you worry about what money you could be missing out on.
( ooc; Right. Am giving you guys the option of either short rest (1 hour) or leaving the dungeon to do a long rest (8 hours). Majority rules on what happens. Won't say whether or not taking the long rest will make things better or worse. Will say a short rest won't drastically change anything. )
(ooc; if you choose short rest, just roll any hit dice you want to use to speed this along. you may edit your posts to reflect it. add that HP to your character sheet only after it's been confirmed but you can roll ahead of time. )
(I am not bothering to physically roll, I was at 7 go out of 10, and when I roll it's 1d8+2, so worse roll possible is max HP. Zhox is looking to get his spell slot back.)
Cool, so an hour passes. Anyone who wants to roll hit dice can. More importantly, who wants to pony up and be the person to open this door to go deeper into the dungeon?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
This room features a small wooden table and a couple of stools. Two goblins hang out here, looking pretty bored. Maybe they'd be less bored ifthey got into a life-or-death struggle with a few adventurers? just a thought.
While Crondar makes his way in unnoticed by these two, ironically Rhodes - the smaller of the pair - botches the stealth operation. Apparently the mage hands missed a spot of poop and Rhode's foot manages to find it because the next thing Rhodes knows, the solid stone floor is rising to meet him. His teeth slap together as he takes it right on the chin. It isn't enough to take any damage but he is prone.
"Oh sh*t!" Hollers the decidedly male goblin, hopping up from his stool. He nearly repeats what Rhodes did as one of his legs seems to give on him a little. "Leg!"
"I see 'em!" The other goblin, who is wearing an eyepatch over her left eye, springs up, brandishing a scimitar from where it was laying on the table.
"I do! Obviously! Wait, you mean me, Eye or you I?"
Zhox follows Rhodes.

Crondar slumps his shoulders in dissapointment and follows the others....

Before giving the Crystal back, Crondar will touch his tongue to it to test it's taste.
(So does that count as a short or long rest?)

(little input: short rest is 1 hour. unless we are using variant rules (gritty realism i think?))

(ooc; yes, to be clear, no one has to roll hit dice during a short rest. you can just get your slots back if applicable.)
Id be for short as well
(short rest it is). For the next hour, Rhodes ponders the meaning of life—for a bat.
Rhodes - Half-elf, Warlock - The Lost Dungeon of Rickness
Si the Demander - Hill Dwarf, Cleric - The Princes of the Apocalypse

Crondar will try open door......and sneak in... Stealth 15
Rhodes with sneak towards Crondar, and prepare for battle.

Rhodes - Half-elf, Warlock - The Lost Dungeon of Rickness
Si the Demander - Hill Dwarf, Cleric - The Princes of the Apocalypse
Zhox is behind Rhodes, I don't think I need to make a stealth check after a nat 1.
