(Also, if the ranger went through the firewall, at all, then they took fire damage, and I believe someone else is doing fire damage as well here... That means the ranger should not be regenerating right now.)
(OOC: Well we have had quite a few rounds with fire breaths, a fireball and a wall of fire and I think we´ve established by now that the ranger is immune to fire damage, hence my repeated question about any acid damage capabilities in the party to try to counter the troll heart regeneration. If we could get the ranger into the Thessalhydra saliva somehow perhaps.)
(OOC: Would Sam and Leann get attacks of opportunity on the ranger as he passes them?)
Does it matter? I'm just looking for some creativity here. Math isn't going to achieve much. Roll the dice 100 times and unless a meteor hits us somewhere along the way,

He's immune to fire damage as has been established. Repeatedly
Don't read it if you want to earn anything of value from this encounter. Honor system.
He has a magic item that is really good and it was going to be yours once you killed him, which was very possible since he just needs any acid damage and you're in a room with a monster that spits acid. I asked someone if they had detect magic on, two on the party at least can cast it. That would tell you something at least about the source of the fire immunity. Notice also that the acid spit is an area effect, so if you just stand next to the ranger and get spit on, he takes damage and dies. By posting actions before initiative it allowed Leann to know it was spitting on her and if she wanted to she could have moved ro attack the ranger. That would have killed him.
Running is also an option. So was just giving him "the eyes" either really, or some of the smaller rubies that were in the room where Little Gadai was.
The lizardfolk ranger could have tried being chummy with him, not sure how that would play out, but could ask to take to BBEG?
Gave you a vial of Thessaltoxin, it's polymorph in a bottle. The list goes on, but this isn't cracking a safe, it's carving a sculpture. There's not 1 solution, but it's easier to do some things with the stone you've got than others.

(OOC: Thanks Shoni but I got the impression earlier that the Thessalhydra toxin wasn´t acidic after all. Try instead to somehow get the ranger into the Thessalhydra saliva which clearly is acidic. About the aoo, it could bring the ranger down stopping him in his tracks until next round at least :-)
Well, as Leann just moved to stand near the ranger, and as she is the likely target of the acid spit, the rest of you simply need to join her, and we can see what happens.
(OOC: It would still come down to in which order the Thessalhydra and the ranger would act I think. If the ranger went first he would always, unless reastrained or something, be able to move out of the Thessalhydra saliva spit area of effect and use that nasty crossbow on us. Am I getting this wrong or wouldn´t he go down at least reaching 0 hit points even if he would get up next round?)
Seeing the furious ranger coming at him Etrigan summons a glabrezu to block his path and keep him near Leann, and the Thessalhydra. (Silent image)
"I think, good Sir, that you will find you cannot win this battle now you´ll still live if you´d be so kind to humbly here before me bow." Etrigan says confidently, standing behind the dreadful demon that is now blocking the way to the corridor.
Etrigan then swiftly curses the ranger. (Hex, Int to make it harder for the ranger to discern the illusion for what it is, int, investigation dc 17)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
<For the record, Leann's action in response to acid spit was dodge, with the ranger on the other side of a wall of fire. He emerged after hearing the scuffle that was the grapple check the following round.>
Barbatos Int (investigation) check 3 to discern the illusion
"Fair question, good Sir who would send these hordes the answer, good Sir The Abyssal Lords!" Etrigan answers the stubborn ranger with an intimidating tone in his voice.
(OOC: As Etrigan isn´t really aware which lord he is serving this would be his most honest answer. The horde statement would be bluffing perhaps ;-)
"A demon lord?! Here? In the Temple of Moloch?" The ranger shouts. His blood stained clothes torn to shreds, his brow dripping with sweat, he throws his hair back as he shouts "Perfect!" and in a softer voice adds, "This ought to be enough to make me a Duke of Hell, at least!"
The ranger rushes the glabrezu, slashing through the illusory demon with his bone sword. Undaunted by the apparent miss, he swings again, and again the sword passes through the illusory demon.
"Sadie!" He calls out of habit to his fallen friend, before recalling her fate, his voice cracking on the Second note. He sniffs the air, smelling nothing from the demon. Glimpsing the warlock behind the glabrezu who laid her low (as a fiend, he knows she's returned to the hellplane where she originated, but it's little comfort in the moment) he moves past the fiend to attack the warlock.

<Calling for actions, which are now before the round to (hopefully) reduce confusion. I'm calling the precious interlude an out of combat event, so Etrigan can still act this round. Yay! action economy. If anyone is down, (which I don't think is the case) a death save would be appropriate, Leann is still pinned, I believe, so she can make a contested strength or dex check against the TH, or attack with DA. Sam and Etrigsn are free fo move. I'm counting Cormac as "fallen" he'll be captured and imprisoned, currently trying unconscious. There's nobody there to play him, but I guess you could help the character if you want to."
(Leann only takes 4 damage then, as she has resistance to the damage of spells, and she saved for half.) As the ranger moves away from her, Leann takes an attack of opportunity, if it is available, if not ignore this... Attack: 18 Damage: 10
She then castsmisty step She will appear right behind the ranger, wherever he ends up. She will strike twice at his backpack... Attack: 13 Damage: 13
Attack: 27 Damage: 11
Or she can do as I already posted, and simply teleport out of the grapple...
"I think, good Sir, you want me dead though you´re for me no match, but if you really want my head first you need me to catch." Etrigan then says tauntingly and is suddenly surrounded by sulphur cloud. The glabrezu disappears and a moment later Etrigan appears by the Thessalhydra smirking at the ranger. (Misty step)
Etrigan then sends two beams of crackling purple energy at the ranger, mostly to keep his attention.
(OOC: Sorry but I just realized that I couldn´t have cast the hex spell since the silent image would have disappeared then. The ranger would have missed with either investigation roll though so luckily the hex spell didn´t matter.)
(If we really think that is it, then why not just go to where the thessalhydra last shot its acid, get some on your blade, and take that blade over and hit the ranger... DM, is there enough acid in those previous-spit-areas to do that?)
<Yup. This thing is dripping a trail of acid from that big center mouth all along the corridors it passes through. Just treat it like anything else you'd apply to a blade, ie poisons, it takes an action.
I'm not rolling the Con saves vs. Damage to Barbatos, he loses concentration and the ring of fire subsides.
The room is now dark (the only reason this matters to most of you is that the floor is covered in several.liquids at this point, mostly the acid spit and various creatures' blood. If you're using darkvision, you'll have ro rely in luck or some other means than color vision to. discern what that puddle might be. Considering all the damage that's been dealt to a large number of creatures, blood ppols.outnumber acid puddles about 11:1. Nothing is stopping anyone from trtingiltiple puddles, but it ties longer to coat. also consider how you're applying it, since it is spilled acid. I'm not having it eat theough boots or anything, bit if you just grab it with your hand, I'm not sure what happens. >

Keep going with that.
"Wait, Etrigan, I might have something!" shouts Huarache as he pulls out the vial of Thessalhydra toxin.
Can I splash it on him?
