// Nice to meet you PC... and Laurel, too. You grow it, I ferment it and bottle it. HA! You've come just in time to help a family in distress. SR would like for you to roll initiative and describe/roll your action for the surprise round. Welcome to the fray! //
"Hey, Laurel," Buster calls back, "a little help here? There's still more of them than us - but not for long!!"
At seeing the kobolds come running out chasing the woman, Laurel calls out, "Hey lady! Safety in numbers!", making a large beckoning gesture. He then uses Produce Flame to conjure and hurl a fist-sized ball of flickering flame at kobold4.
//Ranged spell attack against kobold4: 23 for 7 damage.//
//Initiative: 20//
//AC: 12 (Laurel's squishy)//
He'll hang back and keep an eye on the alleyway to make sure the kobolds don't have any backup on the way.
Edit: Still working on my formatting know-how so let me know if I'm making any mistakes
//In anticipation of me getting busy later today, and knowing that no matter what the kobolds do on their turn, I know what buster is doing for the round after the surprise round.... if the kobold i'm facing (let's say K6 as I wanted to go to an outer flank) is still standing, I'm taking another swing at him... if I knocked him out, then I'm going down the list to the next one I see, which I imagine will be K5.//
Seeing a cleaver fly between the kobolds, Buster says aloud, "Brother - your aim needs improving... maybe you should get closer!" And with that Buster takes a wild swing at the kobold in front of him with his maul!
//To hit: 23 Damage if Non-crit: 8 Damage if Crit: 13 //
// Brice, that works for me. Brisket just finished his training and is now on the go-out-and-wander phase of his ordeal, so accompanying you after you came and got some knowledge would work perfectly. With Buster just out of his service and nothing holding him down, it would have been a natural fit for us to form a makeshift traveling party.
Partiallycyber, welcome! We should figure out how you came to be part of the group. Maybe an acquaintance of buster's or verenz's, or perhaps someone we met on the way down from Mithral Hall to where we are now.
Oh, and an urban Druid?!? Awesome! Always loved that idea but never had a player or group member play one. Love the concept. //
//I think what happened is that Laurel overheard a conversation between Brisket and Buster, perhaps in a tavern, and came away with two important facts: 1) that they were headed to Greenest as guards and 2) that they made good food and drink (or at least better than what the tavern was serving). Wanting to travel but not a fan of trail rations, he signed on as part of the same group with the intent of using the Greenest as a starting point for a longer journey east to Cormyr and the Dalelands.
I'm a big fan of urban fantasy in general so I'm also pretty stoked about the urban druid. Mechanically he's going to be a Circle of the Land Druid but it should still be fun flavor.//
//Posting a general macro for attack and damage that accounts for criticals which should hopefully be easy to reference and keep the need for rolling extra dice manually to a minimum.
Do keep in mind that this works only if the damage roll directly follows the attack roll. If they're not consecutive you'll have to change [roll:X:critical] slightly (X = -1 for no rolls in between, -2 for one roll in between, -3 for two rolls in between, etc). Example:
Don't forget to remove spaces from [ roll] and [ /roll] to get this to work! Also these are the numbers for Laurel, I imagine yours will be different. //
Verenz's attack stikes the ground in frot of the third kobold is the group, the sudden attack, (and the sight of Brother Brisket charging him down) combined with the daconic shouts, terrify the kobold and he scrambles away down he road to get help (unknown to him he is heading the wrong way, and will find no help in the wilderness). Buster's vicious attack with his maul connects with the sixth kobold in the pack and crumples his puny head on impact. Laurlel's Produce Flame spell blindsides the fourth kobold, since he was distracted by the other one dashing away, and sets him aflame. The kobold falls to the ground burning to a crisp instantly.

//OOC - My round 1 action (after the surprise round) against Kobold 5 as I took care of Kobold 6 with the surprise round. Glad I did this earlier, typing from my phone as I'm on my way to a client. LOL //
Laurel will summon another ball of fire using Produce Flame and chuck it at Kobold2.
Attack: 14
Damage: 1
//Got a better picture, thanks for clarifying.//
Seeing that the party is making short work of the kobolds, he'll then move in the direction that the family fled, not getting out of combat, but looking to see if they're long gone or if they stuck around. he'll shift his attention to the sky, keeping an eye on the dragon if he can see it.
// just to clarify, the family ran down into a dead end alley, the woman is blocking the entrance to the alley and the kobolds are in a semicircle around her. //
The dagger attack on Brother Brisket misses, his portly bulk belying the fast reflexes of his training. "You'll need a faster blade then that to hit me," he cries, "here, let me show you."
Drawing his second cleaver he makes an attack, swinging down left to right, and then using a bonus action makes an unarmed martial arts attack, using the torsion of his pose to swing his empty hand back around, backhanding the kobold dismissively.
On Kobold_1
Action Attack: 20
Damage: 6
Bonus Action Attack: 24
Damage: 7
(If the first attack kills the kobold, I'll still hit the corpse with the unarmed attack, basically slapping it out of the way before it hit the ground.)
BB then holds his ground, not moving, and assessing the situation in preparation for the next round.
(Edited, see below. Was originally post Thursday when I was worried I'd hold up thread...)
// I'm on set today filming, and IBM is legendarily meticulous with their commercial details so my chance from any down time is slim to none because it's a prop heavy shoot. Because if this I'm going to post a *potential* second round action for Brother Brisket. //

21 on possible check to assess the battlefield. (Ignore this round)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
//I know that kobold5 actually goes before me, but I'm just going to throw this here because I don't want to hold everyone up a whole round if it starts getting busy later while I'm gone//
Verenz notices the kobold that is attempting to stab the apparently wounded women and snaps his fingers, casting Frostbite on kobold2
//Kobold2 must make a constitution saving throw, DC is 13. If it fails it takes 1 cold damage and has disadvantage on the next attack roll it takes before the end of it's next turn//
