You each find yourselves in Neverwinter waiting for a meeting with Gundren Rockseeker inside The Triumphant Fool Tavern on the outskirts of the city. It’s been a rather dreary with a light drizzle most of the day. The tavern is rather lively with much activity. Each of you are here for your own reasons, though all of you know Gundren in some way. (Feel free to introduce your characters. I’m intending this to be no one knows each other. But it can take a different direction if you would like)
A large - even by Goliath standards - Goliath enters the tavern and starts peering around through the dim light and smoky haze, searching for Gundren Rockseeker. It takes a minute or so before it's clear Gundren has not yet arrived, and the very large man wearing faded, rough skins simply stops where he stands, waiting.
There is bald dwarf sitting alone on one of the tables. There is a wooden staff by his side and a leather bag tied to it by a rope, he wears no armor, not even a shirt. He is drinking something and he looks disappointed. There used to be a lot of fights here where he could make some money, but not so much anymore. This meeting with Gundren comes in a good time, maybe he has some work to offer?
Natone, seeing you enter the Triumphant Fool, you hear a voice call out “Oy, grab a seat, make yer self comfortable. Can I get ya anything?” Looking around for the source of the voice you notice a dwarven male with a rugged appearance, with short silver hair and blue eyes. He wears worn clothing and a wide-brimmed hat. As he walks up next to you adds, “Names Duli, now what can I get ya ta warm ya up on this dreary day?”
Walking into the city was always a curious one for Jargrax, he saw all the people and heard all the noise. It was always busy, even at night there was always someone on the streets. He walked toward the Triumphant Fool Tavern, he had been in there a few times. He enjoyed the cheap drinks and how the swill burned all the way down. Now he had work to do, anything would be worth it if he could get some coin.
Stepping into the old tavern, he looked around seeing a couple new faces. Walking to the bar to sit, his teeth making a loud clacking noise toward Duli. It was an odd gesture Dragonborn made occasionally, he set down what few coins he had left to himself. "Whatever this will get Duil. Suppose to meet a Gundren Rockseeker, know anything about them?"
A copper hewn Dragonborn, standing just under 7ftin height, walks into the bar. Glances right than left, not recognizing anyone proceeds to the bar and orders up an ale and a cut of meat and asks the keep about Gundren Rockseeker.
Duli lets out a hearty laugh, “I meant you are welcome to sit down on the stool not stand there holding it. Though you’re welcome to do that if you’re more comfortable that way.” Duli then sets about taking care of the other patrons while keeping an eye on the hulking Goliath.
Seeing a familiar face walk up to the bar and have a seat, Duli walks up saying, “The usual? ... Hmm, a Gundren Rockseeker you say. Not seen him in six months. Usually keeps to himself though when he does come in. He’s a bit stout, round faced dwarf with a most magnificent beard if I remember rightly. Though I imagine he’ll be here if he said he would.” With that Duli goes off to get your drink and tend to the fresh face the just walked in.
Belvarax, you get the same information from Duli. (I just don’t want to type it all again. 😝) Then Duli goes to get both orders and returns with two mugs and two plates. Both plates have a sizable portion of roasted mutton and artichokes. Duli sets down a mug and plate in front of each Dragonborn at the bar. “Here ya go!” He says to both of you. Then quietly to Jargrax adds, “The meals on me tonight. I hate ta see ya going hungry.” And you see your five copper on the table as Duli turns and walks over to the bald dwarf sitting by themselves. “Care for another drink or bite to eat?”
Rolo looks at Duli as he tries to sit down on a better position and says, "Another beer for me, Duli. Or don't you recognize me when i am not covered in my own blood? or being beat to death?...
"I guess there is a lot of people looking for Gundren, and he is probably late as always...."Can you call me when he shows up, if i am too drunk to realise?"
The elegant half elf enters the tavern with the stiff movements of someone visiting somewhere below her station. “Barkeep! I desire a table and a glass of wine, preferably of elven vintage.” More quietly, to the barkeep alone, “I’m looking for Gundren Rockseeker.”

Clacking his teeth loudly at the Duil, "I will add this to what I owe you, I swear I will pay it back. If I fail, you can have what belongings I own. It won't pay you back, but it's something." Taking his coins and carefully putting them away as he begins to eat, savoring each bit and sip of his drink. Pausing only to step over and pick up the stool on its side and fix it, even wiping his hand on the seat to brush off dust before going back to his food. His meal interrupted as a loud half elf barging inside calling out for elvish drink and table.
Hissing at the woman, "You don't have to ask Girlie, just take a table. Just don't interrupt other's meals with your noise." Turning back to his food, scraping his plate clean and finishing his drink.
A cheerful and shiny little dwarf covered in silvery and blue cleric robes bubbles into the tavern, hopping slightly to see above the heads in front of her. With her good vision she sees that she beat Gundrenn, a distant relative of her Da, Tak, whom she promised to meet to share all the family news from the mountain clans. She waves to the bartender and asks a simple meal, and bustles to an empty spot at the end of a bench, oblivious to the slightly disgruntled man on the other side. He starts to mouth his distaste, until he sees the large and gleaming warhammer strapped to her hip. She clasps the white mountain flower necklace her Da crafted her and says her goddess's blessings before serving herself.
Wandering in the city and unable to find his bearings out of the wilderness he's used to, Aðalsteinn managed to find some helpful passers by to direct him to the Triumphant Fool Tavern. Most folks overlook the gnome due in part to his modest clothing and mostly due to the fact that he's a gnome. After finding the correct tavern and entering, Aðalsteinn is surprised to see so many people. The letter that Gundren sent said nothing about a large party, just to meet him at the Triumphant Fool Tavern. Maybe the eclectic group were regulars. After finding an empty bench and table and setting his pack gently on the bench next to him, asked the Barkeep for something to eat and drink.
After witnessing the loud elf barging in, I turn back to my meal and finish my drink. Noticing that Jargrax has finished his drink as well, I call to the bar keep. "Duil, another drink for me and my new friend here." turning to Jargrax, "Hey Frosty, I hear you are looking for Gundren as well and it looks like you could use a little help with what lies ahead."
Growling at the strange Dragonborn now acting friendly toward him. His teeth showing as he hisses at him. "No." He didn't say more but his eyes locked onto the other Dragonborn and his face was one of anger and annoyance.
“Ah of course! My mistake. You’re almost incognito not covered in blood. I’ve not seen this Gundren yet, though it seems a good many people are here looking for him. ... I hope that doesn’t mean trouble for me later. I’ll let you know when I see him.”
As Duli finishes his conversation with Rolo, the bald dwarf by himself in the corner. He turns to see the rather enchanting half elf enter the Triumphant Fool. He gestures to an open table and motions for her to sit. “I’m afraid we only stock the dwarven vintages here. Would that be a suitable replacement for you? I have bottles ranging from 2 gold up to 10 gold pieces. If one of them take yer fancy.”
After getting the half-elf’s order, Duli busies himself with taking care of the other patrons collecting coin where appropriate (3sp from the cheery dwarf and from the oft overlooked gnome, and 1 silver from Belvarax. I already did the accounting 😉)
After roughly 30 minutes or so the sun begins to peel through the clouds a bit casting a few slivers of light in to the tavern. Followed shortly by a loud BANG! As the door flies open and standing in the doorway is a rather stout, round faced dwarf with a most magnificent beard clad in simple clothing. He nods at those he recognizes and motions for you all to join him at a corner booth. After you are all there says, “I’m waiting on one more person to arrive. They said they had business to attend and might be a spot late. I’ll give em about ten minutes more ‘fore I begin and explain ... at least a little ... why I’ve asked for you all to meet me here.” He then asks Duli for the house special and sits back and begins puffing on a pipe.
Before getting up and moving over to Gundren I leave a silver on the bar. “For you” spoken to Duli. I stand up and glance n the direction of Jargrax. “Well Frosty, he’s here.” I grab my drink, pull out my pipe and head over to where Gundren is seated and join him at his table. I nod at the others who have already gathered there and introduce myself to Gundren . “I am Belvarax Fenkenkabardon, I have received you message. How may I be of service?”
Natone shuffles over to the table, tries to squeeze into a seat, and winds up with the table resting on his lap. "Gundren tell Natone to wait. Natone wait. Gundren here. Time for job?"
I finish my drink, pick up my staff and backpack, and as I move to Gundren’s table I say: “Been waiting for some time now, Gundren…There better be money involved in this…”.
Sit down, cross my arms….and Rolo is now listening to what Gundren has to say…
