Name: Fenrick Wolfsbane Race: Ghostwise Halfling Class: Ranger Background: Outlander Backstory: Fenrick has lived in or near Icewind Dale his entire life. He grew up in the warm caring hand of civilization, but soon learned he preferred the cold freedom of the wilderness. At a young age, Fenrick left society, instead taking residence on the outskirts of town, using his skills with fishing and trapping to sustain himself. In those years, he took lessons from the land, learning the fluid balance of nature and society, and what he could do to preserve it. Fenrick can occasionally be seen selling his game in Icewind Dale, but seldom interacts with the local townfolk. He rarely speaks, but when he does, people listen.
Farold has been living near Ten Towns for several years. The freedom and solitude available allows him the focus needed to continue his search for enlightenment in ways the busy city life does not. Life here has never been for everyone, but the last couple years we’re especially brutal. No summer at all. Farold isn’t one to shy from adversity, but Ten Towns is looking pretty lean. Might be time to head on in and see what can be done, if anything.
Backstory: Logan was a recent addition to Icewind Dale. He had traveled here to continue his training and learn from a weapons master who his father knew from his time abroad. He’s spent the last eighteen months either training, working in the local militia as a sergeant to earn money, or helping out people in need. After all, can’t be a hero if you don’t help people.
Level: 1 Name: Aoife Bristleborn Race: Hill Dwarf Class: Barbarian Background: Guild Artisan Backstory: Aoife never thought she would be an adventurer. Sure she had thought about it every once in a while but by the time she reached middle age she had just about pushed all of those fanciful ideas of adventure. Besides, what did she need adventure for? Her and her husband Ondior have a really successful tavern, she has two beautiful children, and she is perfectly happy. That was, until her son Ozzic decided to go off adventuring. He vanished about 6 months after he left home, and now Aoife is on a mission to find her son and bring him back home. She just arrived in Icewind Dale following a lead to find her son. DNDBeyond Link: ddb.ac/characters/36485022/k8FyQM

Backstory: Rasjhan left home early, feeling he wasn't going to bring his family glory where he was. With the blessing of his family, he left with just his wits and knowledge. As he travelled, it became clear Bahamut was also with him, and he travelled far and wide; meeting all sorts of people, seeing the wonders of the world and beginning to learn when danger was worth venturing.
Along his travels he hears of a place of perpetual winter; a place calling to bask in Bahamut's warm and light, and he shall be its beacon...
Level: 1 Name: Vedui Gurth Race: Half Elf Class: Monk Way of the Long Death Background: Haunted One
Orphaned at a young age, Vedui was taken in by the Order of the Long Death monestary in Thay. There he studied death and all it's forms, and began a search for the "Perfect Death". However, Vedui soon learned that the Order was not what he wanted. Cruel and inhumane in their treatment of others and often torturing captured humanoids, this turned Vedui's stomach, and he sought escape. The final straw came when he and two others of his order came upon some traveling merchants. After purchasing some items and talking with them, Vedui turned to leave, only to find that the other members of his order decided that some study of death was due, and they slew the traders with bare hands, even to the point of choking out a young child. Vedui stared in horror....He told the members of the order...he was done....No more. They gave him 24 hours and told him he was a hunted man and they would enjoy learning from his death....
He ran to the farthest place he could think of...****y to find cold....and more cold.....
Orphaned (or abandoned, he never really knew which) at a young age, Thurkear was left to fend for himself on the streets of Port Nyanzaru in Chult. Eeking out a living on the streets was hard and the lizardfolk slipped into a life of crime out of neccessity. Mostly a pickpoket and a petty thief, Thurkear's standard of living didn't increase by much, but at least it was a step up.
Thurkear ran with a small crew of street urchins just like himself. Among them was Jade a half-elven waif of a girl who could charm the scales off a dragon. Together they would work together with one of them distracting unsuspecting marks while the others fleeced them of their belongings. Though their relationship remained platonic, Thurkear considered her his closest friend and confidant.
Then one day the crew decided to target a group of adventurer who was returning from the jungles of Chult. In the same fashion as they had done so often before Jade distracted them, while the crew moved into pickpoket what they could. That is where things all went wrong. Carefully opening one of the backpacks, Thurkear carefully reached to take one of the ornate bracelets which he tought were easy picking. As he touched the bracelet however, the lizardfolk's head was filled with a blinding white light, causing him to shout in pain. The game was up. Chaos reigned as the adventurer's drew weapons and attacked the pickpockets. Still reeling from the pain, Thurkear's next memory was of Jade as she was run through by one of the adventure's swords. Horrified at seeing his friend cut down, frightened beyond belief, Thurkear turned tail and ran.
The rest of the memories were like a blur. Driven by guilt and a force that just seemed to tell him to get as far away as possible, Thurkear found himself on a ship leaving that very day to Waterdeep. It was only later that night that he realized he still had the bracelet.
Then came the dreams. The dream was always the same, Thurkear would find himself surrounded by a sea of white and bone chilling cold that went on for as far as the lizardfolk's eye could see. In front of him, floating in the air above the horizon an sword so large it almost blots out the sun.
Made from an unknown material of almost absolute black, the pommel, grip & guard are covered with hieroglyphs of what appeared to be ravens in various states of flight, which pulsed slowly with an icy blue light that slowly changes to a bright burning red before the cycle starts again. The silver blade pulses with a glow whose colour changes in time with the hieroglyphs. And in the center of the cross guard a large eye that turns to follow Thurkear which ever way he moves.
After a few tense moments, the sword would shrink down to about the size of a normal longsword and appear in front of Thurkear as if willing him to take it in his grip. As it does so voice sounds in Thurkear's head repeating the same sentence over and over again "Do you want power? Do you want to be able to protect those dear to you? Serve me and you shall have it." Thurkear would resist and each morning he would wake up drenched in sweat.
Then one night the dream was different. Again the voice called out, this time accompanied by a huge cloaked figure. As it drew close to Thurkear, the folds of the figure's cloak part as if blown by some unseen wind, and out steps Jade, appearing as she did in life. Screaming, crying, running. Try as he might Thurkear was prevented by a force beyond his understanding from reaching Jade. Then in the same voice he heard every night, The Raven Queen speaks, "Serve me Thurkear whose name means Night. Accomplish my tasks and do my bidding in the realms and when your tenure is up, I will return your friend to the land of the living."
Thurkear clenches his fists as he looks up at the raven skull above the figures billowing cloak, "How do I know I can I trust you? How do I know this is not just a ruse?"
"You don't," comes the reply, "But fear not. The Raven Queen will not break her word. Now enough talk. I have waited long enough. Will you serve?" At this the robes part once again as the sword floats out and slowly comes to a stop before Thurkear.
Thurkear looks up at Jade once more, takes a deep breath and then reaches out to take the sword.
Now months since that faithful day, Thurkear finds himself in the far far reaches of the North in Bryn Shander of the Ten Towns. Driven by the visions of that vast expanse of white and on the behest of his new patron he has come to Icewind Dale to search for something. What it is that he is to be searching for however, The Raven Queen has yet to make clear.
