Several grasping tendrils emit from this rocky creature and flail outwards, and Aregarak manages to dodge two of them, but a third latches onto him, while another grabs at Lana. Aregarak and Lana are grappled (escape DC 15). Special: when grappled by one of these tendrils, until the grapple ends, the target is restrained and has disadvantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws.

The toothy maw of this monstrosity (that, just moments ago, looked like a large stalagmite) emits a hungry, guttural sound. Above the maw, a single, orange eye opens fully to stare across the cavern at you.

The air feels charged as an angry Minotaur starts to rage in response to being grappled by this tendril and tries to swing his greatsword at the offending pseudopod..

[Greatsword +1: 14 Damage: 11]

Aregarak misses his attack—there seems to be some sort of numbing agent exuding from these tendrils.

GB sees the beast grab his companions and instinctively cast Shatter pinpointed on the beast.

Con save 12 or 13 thunder dmg and half as much on success.

/ooc so we have to roll a 15 or higher and the first roll is on disadvantage? then do we still get an attack?

Bel runs over to were Aregarak is and stabs at the tenticle holding the big guy.

Bel's attack is also a miss, his rapier skittering across the tough tendril as if it were made of plate armor.

Lana tries to wiggle her way out of the hold. Meanwhile Spirit leaps at the tentacle holding her loyal companion.

It is obvious that it's difficult to overcome this creature, a roper, with brute strength.

Aregarak is pulled halfway towards the roper, into the freezing river! The rough water slaps the minotaur in his face, pouring over him in torrents, but the roper's strong tendril continues to draw him ever closer, and eventually brings him out of the water and up to its gaping maw...

Aregarak, what do you do?

Meanwhile, the roper lashes out at GB, Bel, and Spirit with more of its tendrils—

GB winces at the tentacle as it grasps round his body.  He lets out a brief screech of surprise.
