When the crowd comes into view, Rowan appears to shrink in on herself a bit, pulling her hood back up and fixing her gaze on the ground. She tries to move towards the middle of the group as they get closer, and is obviously uncomfortable with the attention they're receiving. If anybody approaches her specifically she politely turns them down with as few words as possible.
"Healers, then tavern sounds good to me," she quietly agrees to Bryn's plan.
"Ah, friend Jared, I shall take you up on the food and drink, but first I must check in on the mortuary, and deliver this newest corpse."
As they arrive in town Vedui will begin to ask anyone nearby including any city guards if they recognize the corpse of the albino, lifting the head draped over the horse. He is also going to look for anyone watching suspiciously, or someone that may follow them once they get into town.
"Have you seen this man before? Has he been seen in town?"
Eventually he will bring this corpse to the mortuary.
The dwarf will accompany Quinry and Harry-rat to a healer and ask about cures for disease and removal of curses. Then seeking a secure place to detain the prisoner, then food at Jared’s place to plan how to learn more and deal with prisoners and the threat of further attack. Then Fish business, Moradin willing.
Once at the Tavern, Jared will make sure Boris is ok. "Blast it all," Jared exclaims as he remembers he had left bones in water for the stew broth. Assuming the broth is bad, Jared will start a second batch. Jared will also start making bread and cutting and frying a couple of apples with cinnamon and sugar for Rowan's special treat. Jared should be out of the way for a while since it takes a pretty long time to do the things on his list.
Rowan will follow the others back to town, once again leading her horse next to her. She sends Enya away for the moment and use prestidigitation to clean up her clothes as much as possible. Once she's done that, she'll pull out Doloran's book and try to make sense of its contents.
Arcana: 19
((I assume we're taking both Harry and Doloran, yes.))
Rowan, you crack open the book as your riding back into town. It is filled with pages and pages of detailed descriptions of torture methods, both self inflicted and inflicted on others with the apparent objective of finding the maximum capacity for human suffering, and harnessing that pain as a power supply for your own use.
Every passage begins and ends with the phase "Out of suffering, comes strength".
Towards the end of the book, the tone changes, and you notice the frequent mention of the god Myrkul, and cryptic phrases like. "Death is the gate." "Untapped suffering" and a black triangle with a white skull. Noticably absent is the crossbow found on the albino man.

Perception 13
You ask around town about the albino man, but nobody has seen or heard of him before. Eventually, you bring his corpse to the mortuary, where Mortium has already laid out the elderly couple on the tables. "Another one? Just what we need, more bodies to deal with. Where'd you find this one?" As he talks, he wipes his face with his apron, and you can see that his arm has several bite marks on it that have begun to turn black and angry.

Jared, as you walk into the inn, you are greeted by a rather flustered Boris, who appears to be excited but unprepared for the influx of guests so early in the day. "Yes, well, very good. I guess I'll let your poor behavior leaving me alone with the Tavern go for the time being. But only because you've brought your fine friends along with you! The first round is on the house!"
So I have Quinry, Rowan, Harry, and Jormund going to the healer. Anybody else?
There are several options for healing. One is the local apothecary, where you can buy mundane healing kits, herbs, and remedies. Another is the church of Pelor, the Dawn Father, and the largest church in town. Finally, there is a smaller Church Patheon, where traveling missionaries of various faiths can have a space to worship, preach, and gather their followers. Typically, there will be traveling clerics of half a dozen smaller faiths gathered there.
"This one seemed to be part of a conspiracy to lead these rats to town. I thought if he had been here someone would have noticed him as he is unusual, but no one recognized him. He...was not a good man, and we were forced to kill him along with some others, whose bodies we left near the dump. "
Vedui will look with some concern at the bites on Mortium's arm. "Sir, those bites are they from the rats? they look to be diseased. We should go and see if we can find a healer for you immediately. Some of those I met were talking of the same...Please, let me take you somewhere"
After looking at the bites he will ask Mortium "Mr. Mortium, have you seen this type of disease before? Perhaps whoever set these rats upon the population did this on purpose...
Ann isn't gonna let Rowan go unprotected, so she also follows the bigger group. "I usually look for an apothecary for my injuries, but that's different from a curse such as this... I wouldn't know much about that."
"The church of Pelor seems best,"Rowan agrees. "They're the largest, so they'll probably have the most resources. If nobody there can help, we can try the other temple."
While reading, Rowan would have skimmed over most of the passages detailing torture methods and the like - that's not something she needs or wants to know. Once she realized what the book was about, her main focus would have been finding the names of any people or places.

To find out about people, that'd be an investigation check.

Bryn accompanies the group to the healers keeping a watchful eye out for anything that just doesn’t seem right for example, a figure in the shadows or a scowling face when everyone else is happy and celebrating. While he is keeping an eye out he is doing his best to not look like he’s keeping an eye out.

Mortium " A conspiracy you say? Why would somebody want to agitate mobs of disease-ridden pests in a small town like this? Are they trying to improve my business?" Who else stands to gain from this?" Mortium shook his head sadly. "This does not bode well for the town. And yes, now that you mention it, a visit to the doctor would perhaps be in order. The pain in my arm concerns me. Shall we pay our respects to the Dawn Father?

Bryn, as you walk across the square to the temple with the others, the sense of relief is palpable, with a buzz in the air that often follows large events. Nothing seems amiss.
After you manage to tear your eyes away from the macabre contents of the tomb to focus on gleaning information about the identity and origin of this man, you are disappointed by the vague voice and reverential focus on the rites contained within. However, just as you are about to close the book in frustration, your eyes catch a glimpse of the inner cover of the book. On the top left corner, in blood, you find the name Doloran. However, upon closer examination, you can make out a name written in ink below that. Damian Hemzar.
You all arrive at the door of the temple of Pelor to find that there is already a line out the door of supplicants trying to enter. However, whispers of your deeds cause most of line to move aside out of respect. Once you are granted admittance by the priests at the door, you are greeted by a flurry of activity, with the atmosphere more like a hospital than a church. After being signaled over by one of the attending priests, a portly, frocked man with flowing golden locks moves to greet you.
"Welcome, saviors of Amphail! I am Father Albrite, and I am told you are part of the bunch that beat of that ghastly swarm of pests this morning. You have my deepest thanks. However, I do not think that this morning's events have been concluded. It appears that these rodents have some sort of illness that has already brought many of our parishioners in for healing. Perhaps you are here for the same?
While working Jared will say: "Hey Boris, did you hear all about what happened this morning?" he asks. Jared will wait for a response. After Boris responds Jared will move a bit closer to his boss and in a lowered voice. "You ever hear of any Thay folks running around here or anything about a set of pipes that curse the user?"
