After listening to your discussion, Sir Henry will address you all.
"I and Amphail are very much in debt for your service today. By all means, you all deserve a good rest and good company. Enjoy the rest of your day!
However, it seems as though we have not seen the last of this group, and I would greatly appreciate your help in learning what we're facing. Would you all honor me by joining me for breakfast tomorrow? I promise, you will get a meal fit for even the most famished dwarf!"
Ooc: it is currently about noon on market day, which is the first day of the week.
Jared will also pipe up. "If it's good food you want, I know the place with the best cook in town! Me!" And if you follow he'll take you all back to his inn.
It takes her hearing Bryn talking about her charge for Ann to have a realization. "Wait! I was never supposed to go back to Waterdeep." She presses a hand against her forehead. "You'll have to excuse me. The hit that knocked me down had me feeling dizzy up until now."
She clears her throat and begins up from the beginning. "My charge and the person who hired me are not the same. My charge's orders do not overrule the ones from the person who hired me. Now, what I forgot was that my duty is done when we leave the tailor's shop. I don't believe that interrupts any plans of staying in Amphail for the day and finding ways to solve this problem."
Sir Henry will let out an snort at your apology, and reply "At least you managed to get a few good blows in, which is more than my lead-legged lot can say! We'd do well to have a few more swift young blades like yourself!"
There's is a genuine smile on her face, though small, when she hears the praise from Sir Henry. "Thank you. I've been a long way trying to convince people you don't need to be strong and wield a longsword to be a capable knight. With speed and precision, you can conquer mighty challenges to protect others."
Someone watching closely when Ann offhandedly mentions going back to Waterdeep would notice a rapid series of emotions go across Rowan's face - confusion, then hope, then fear - before she schools it back into practiced neutrality.
"It's probably for the best we finish what we came to the market for," she reluctantly admits once Ann is finished."We wouldn't want to keep her waiting."She rolls her eyes, shooting Ann a knowing look. Turning back to the others and taking a breath to steel her nerves, she says, "I'll see you all tomorrow morning."Before she can regret it, she turns on her heel and starts walking back towards the marketplace.
A mischievous twinkle appears in Bryn's eye, "So what if you and your charge never make it to the tailor shop to begin with......? Were you to take her to the shop or were you to be her escort as she goes places, one of them being the tailor shop?"
Ann watches Rowan leave first and answers Bryn's answer. "I do not understand what your plan is. After I've done my duty, I can go wherever I please. Surely, there's no point in delaying our visit to the tailor? The faster I get done with it, the earlier I may be able to start focusing on our current problem."
After that, she starts taking steps towards the same way Rowan was leaving to. She says to the group as she makes her way out, "Farewell. I look forward to fighting by your side again."
“I have found that sometimes people in position of authority use ‘escort’ and ‘take against their will’ interchangeably. I was not sure what the case was in this situation. If your charge had to be taken somewhere after going to the tailor than the ’letter of the law’ could be followed by delaying the visit to the tailor as it seems like she is more interested in helping with the current situation than going to the tailor.”
Vedui will turn to Sir Henry before he departs. "One thing kind sir. Earlier we had helped the silver smith and now I believe we may have need of his services. The rat-man we fought....our weapons would not touch him. Although I am not an expert in such things, we may need something silvered or magical to harm these creatures....Can you arrange something with the silver smith?"
“I have found that sometimes people in position of authority use ‘escort’ and ‘take against their will’ interchangeably. I was not sure what the case was in this situation. If your charge had to be taken somewhere after going to the tailor then the ’letter of the law’ could be followed by delaying the visit to the tailor as it seems like she is more interested in helping with the current situation than going to the tailor.”
"That makes no sense. Why do you wish to delay the completion of my duties so much? The current situation will be discussed tomorrow, according to Sir Henry. It makes no difference where we go today. We can discuss this later. Now, if you'll excuse me." And, after having to stop on her way out to explain that, Ann goes back to walking towards the marketplace.
Rowan hesitates and looks back over her shoulder when she hears Ann and Bryn conversing. She nearly chimes in once or twice, but thinks better of it and waits for the two to finish speaking, returning Bryn's wave as she walks away. Once they've made it a decent distance from the group, she turns to Ann and says, "My mother will probably ask why it took us so long to complete our errand. We can tell her about the attack, but I would really appreciate if you would leave out the details of what I did. We'll just say that you helped fight off the cloaked men, and that you protected me from getting hurt."
There's a moment of silence before she speaks again. "Thank you, by the way. I'm not as helpless as my mother would like to believe, but I've still never really had to fight someone before. I don't want to imagine what would've happened if any of them got close to me."
Ann, on her way out, looks at Bryn with a grin and a nod. Though she didn't like the final discussion, there was much respect there, and she quickly made her way out.
Leaving only the knight, her charge, and the stable boy, Ann calmly waits to hear Rowan while they're in a spot where none of them can be heard. "Yes, Miss Rowan, you said something to that effect to me when we met Sir Henry. Truthfully, I, too, do not wish that to be known. She might consider that letting you get into trouble, even if I had no ability to stop you from using magic." Ann might not understand exactly how Rowan was doing it, but she knew magic and had seen it done before. "That story sounds close to the truth enough. I'll support you on that since that benefits us both."
Then with a slight grin at the words of gratitude, Ann responds. "Those words are unnecessary. Protecting is just what my job is about. Though, I don't believe they could've done worse to you than they did to me. At least, I'd be there to protect you if you were their target."
Sir Henry will consider your question, then says: "I don't like the idea of a problem that plain steel and grit cannot solve, but I have heard of such things before. So you've met Argenti before? A lovely gentleman and smith, although I prefer a bit stronger metal. I don't know what weapons he has on hand, but you can certainly check in with him. I will also check my own armory and show you what we have tomorrow. If more is needful, and you decide to continue this work, perhaps we can arrange something with Argenti to improve your own weapons, although it may take some time."
So Vedui, Bryn, and Jormund will follow Jared back to the Boar and Tankard, where Boris, the owner, quickly hustles Jared back into the kitchen to deal with the imminent lunch rush, before finding you a table and offering you all drinks on the house. "What's your poison? These are on the house. Thanks for bringing my cook back in one piece. He's a good boy, but reckless." He says with a gruff smile
Ann and Rowan will continue to the tailor, leaving Quinry with the horses. As you step into the shop, named Khiats Kalidescope, you are surrounded by walls richly draped with bolts of fabric of silk, cotton, and linen, displayed in a rainbow of the latest Waterdeep fashion. you are approached by the owner, a slender woman with black hair piled on top of her head, amber skin, and a simple, but spotlessly white apron filled with bobbins, needles and thread. "Hello, dears! Welcome to Khiat's Kalidescope. Looking for some repairs, or perhaps a new look would be helpful? What can I do for you?"
Edit: if you have other business you'd like to take care of, let me know!
“Thank you for you generosity with the drink. My pleasure is a stout that is a meal unto itself and, if you have it, some roast boar or venison to go with it.” And with a smile says, “You can put the food on Sir Henry’s tab.”
For the first time in a while, Ann is happy to stay behind and let Rowan take the lead. The knight was requested to help get them here and not to go around choosing dresses. "Thankfully," is what she thinks.
Rowan greets the woman with a friendly smile as they walk into the shop."Hello. I was hoping to purchase a new dress. Something a bit on the fancier side, if possible." She spends a moment surveying the near-overwhelming swirl of fabrics and garments surrounding her.

Boris will give you a knowing smile and reply, "Fortunately for you I just opened a barrel of oatmeal stout so thick that you almost need a spoon! And as for meat, I'll see what Jared had roasting overnight. Sir Henry has excellent taste" he adds with a wink.

"Aye! Something with some kickback. Ye dunna p'rhaps have any Deepdelver's draft, do ye? If'n ye dunne's a fair tale still, then just a tankard o' the stout same as him. And then another so I can drink to young Mas'r Talon's aim with a blade before I start the real business, ye?!"
To Bryn, "Bryn was it? Ye've got the right size of it. There'uz many a time I wished there'd be roast for late afternoon breakfast in the campaigns 'gainst the orcs... I'll likely need 'nuther to drink to this man's blades and aim with an arrow." And he raises a fist like a tankard tap in your general direction.
He turns it to Vedui, "And to yer getting away from an old spell o' mischief at least another time. Getting outta trouble's one thing, but gettin' outta the kind that clings to ye, well we'll drink to that. And if'n the silver does the trick, well then a tap o' the hammer to ye."
To Boris, "And if my thirst outpaces my welcome, I've got coin to back it up less'n Sir Henry's got tab enough for a proper dwarven bit o' rememberin' the day."
"Any idea where Harry's got off te? Me'thinks we should keep an eye on that 'un at least until the brothers try to take that curse from 'im." With that observation, Jormund'll head back a bit to figure out where they may have parted.
