(Just wait until I get a hold of Otiluke's Irrestible Dance and Confusion! I got some good ones lined for those)
Following another near brush with death, Olly loses some pep. Her song consequently switched to a more somber one as she made her way to Blank side, maybe inspiring the bard? Either way, she throws herself into swinging her Bandore into a Duodrone.
Movement: HIppity Hop to Zone1.
Bonus Action: Bardic Inspiration for Blank(d8).
Action: Judgement of La Princesa! Attack: 23 Damage: 10 magical bludgeoning to Duodrone6 in Zone1.

Seeing the second Ancient fall, Tolwar dismisses the Faerie Fire effect to end it on any of the allies. Watching others rush to mop up the final rogue drones...rather than helping he approaches the fallen Ancient and begins scavenging the body for any technology that might be useful or interesting to study.
Is looting the bodies allowed here? I would imagine not PCs...but these NPC combatants? Also...this is my first Coliseum engagement...how does XP work?
Investigation check if looting is allowed: 6

The drones have been defeated, but is the battle over?
Elspeth emerges from where she had taken cover nearby. She clears her throat cutting through the sudden stillness, as if expecting something of the fighters who were interrupted.
You have not had an opportunity to rest at all, but you do feel strength and maybe even exileration for having fought just moments ago. (If you participated in the event you gain a level now. This includes one hit die and any added spell slots.)
The withered old man from the Rubble of the Coliseum watches as well. After a moment he motions to the level-5 contenders to follow.
You each are given the opportunity for a short rest (but not a long rest), before your battle will be restarted.(If you participated in the event you gain a level now. This includes one hit die and any added spell slots.)
(Horatio, Koplony, Dorkas, Sha'kar, Kulum, and Nock, Roll initiative and choose a starting position in Row 1 or 12)
Olly searches the scattered debris but finds nothing of worth beyond a scattering of small javelins. These foes must have been designed to disintegrate.
Disintegration. If the drone dies, its body disintegrates into dust, leaving behind its weapons and anything else it was carrying.
Designing a battle for 16+ players is not nearly covered in the DMG. However there was some guidance there regarding how much a group can handle. Back of the napkin math, that guidance, a fair guess, and a leap into the unknown yielded this.
Before I had looked at any numbers I had expected the level 5 match to finish before the level 6 match reached Round 3. I has also anticipated the previous level 5 match to close more quickly. Alas the coliseum exists in a space where time is a befuddled, tangled, mess.
My initial assumptions when I did decide on enemy make up, were that there would be about 16 players and about 4 from each level from 3 to 6 (I didn't actually count). This yields 13,600 as an xp threshold for a deadly challenge.
In reality there were 18 players of a similarly diverse level group, yielding a 15900 xp threshold.
20 Duodrones, 12 Monodrones, 5 Tridrones, 2 (not) Earth Elementals, 1 Pentadrone+, and 1 Quadrone sums 6200 xp (or about half)
Then the DMG asks you to adjust based on other factors. 15 or more monsters? ×4, 6 or more players? Make that ×3, it starts in the middle of another encounter? Make it ×4 again. Oh you want to split the whole thing into 2 battles where all of the above statements still remain true? Well we won't begin to cover that. Anyway the numbers become a bit meaningless.
Last time I ran a similar encounter I divided the battle to allow lower level players to fight weaker targets and higher level players to fight harder targets. What actually happened was lower level players were bravely one shot by the Purple Worm while higher level players laid waste to the trash. This made Orileo's idea of interrupting the level-6 match particularly appealing, as I would be able to require the higher level players to fight the harder enemies.
As usual any feedback is welcome to improve these sorts of events in the future.

OOC: So... if everyone participated levels up, Eldin goes up from level 5 to level 6. Does he get the level 6 rewards or level 5 rewards?))Nevermind. I think it should be level 5 rewards.
