OOC. The bounding overwatch litecoin thing was a sort of OOC dumb / IC dumb but amusing gimmick we've been using. Tommary was spending actual coin on it till Toots suggested using the brass slugs. Further refinement is always welcome, after I sprain my ankle and/or stress my immune system's resilience against waterborne pathogens. HighCON!
Sure, but leapfrog works just as well with three participants as it does with two.
OOC: that's sort of what "further refinement is always welcome" means ;) but Tommary had already stepped in it, so to speak. That said "bounding overwatch" is actually best left to two elements (or coins to be literal to this case). If we just have a floating illuminator, that's a different play, and I'm fine with that if Ilyra wants to keep her concentration on it, one you all paddle to this end of the trench ... wait, did I miss an exhaust port in there? I bet there was an exhaust port, through which had we cast magic weapon on a handcrossbow bolt, we could've brought this whole death fortress down, I new I shouldn't have focused on my targeting computer. [Meta] check for an exhaust port in the trench! I'll pretend to peace out for the reward coin only to show up at the last moment with Nine in a fur coat to throw off your pursuers with a cunning action sneak attack from above them. That's probably what the mild danger was, the possibility we could bring this whole volcano down ... and I Gold(coin) leader'd it.
OOC: I am apparently too tired to follow all that so I’ma hafta try again when I finish my long rest.

OOC: AHHAH!! Took me a couple read through but I eventually was able to pick up what you were puttin’ down. There were a couple technical inconsistencies* that my dominant left brain kept getting hung up on, and then the mixed reference** my less agile right brain took a few tries to parse out, but I got there in the end.
Personally, my mind went to a different scene entirely and I was about to comment on what an incredible smell you had discovered and warn you that there is something alive in there. 😉

Or maybe, you know how some kids who just liked being dirty all the time, even wen they can get clean? I wonder if he keeps doing it on purpose because I keep cleaning him off? I wonder, if I just don’t clean him again if he won’t try to get any dirtier. Normally I wouldn’t mind whatever he wants to do with himself over there, but we all have to share a dome together. HEY TOMMARY, IS THERE ANYTHING ALIVE IN THERE?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Nothing bit me, but I'll see what I can do with a another look and a light." Tommary drops in the trench again with litecoin in hand to see what he can see, for threats on behalf of his colleagues, for an exhaust port, through which a well place bomb could bring the whole volcano down, based on a hunch based on architecture he learned in a reel the Mouse lifted from the Fox for a song.
Presuming the murk will probably obscure things despite the light, I'll do perception at disadvantage, Perception 11
At a depth of about 20 feet he finds the bottom. Covered in a thin layer of slime and worms, there is a corpse of a small person, possibly a Dwarf from the thick bones.
The body has a strap of some sort tangled on a metal wheel. You surmise that the person got trapped and drowned.

“Wait, what kind of wheel? Is it up and down like the waterwheels that at the falls in Cliffside? You know, the pump wheels*1 for the locksteps? Or is it sideyways like the carousel they set up every year for The Town Founding Festival*2? How big is the wheel? Does it have spokes? Is it attached to anything? Is it spinning? Are there cogteeth…?” Toots pauses in her typical barrage of questions to take a deep breath….
*1(At the base of Cliffside exist a pair enormous waterwheels, at the very border where the waterway and the Warrens meet. They are used to pressurize the pumps which force water into the upcliff*^ locksteps.) *^(Since Cliffside’s founding, not one but two sets of locksteps have been installed. One set, known as the downcliff steps brings ships from the top of the cliff to the bottom. This set of steps uses the water’s natural flow with gravity to increase the level of water within the locks to accommodate the various drafts of the vessels it accommodates. The other set of steps, carry ships at the bottom “upcliff” to the top, and require a series of pressurized pumps to force water up against gravity.) *2(Is very year a three-day celebration takes place in Cliffside to celebrate the city’s founding. As part of that celebration a giant carousel is installed in Clifftop District directly at the cliff’s edge and uses the flow of the falls to power the mechanism. The axel of the carousel is anchored at the very edge of the cliff itself so that almost exactly half of the wheel extends out past the cliff, suspended over nothing but air. Passengers can enjoy a spectacular view of the whole countryside as their seats are rotated out overhanging the falls. To facilitate the installation, an elaborate series of scaffolding must be erected each year. The sight of those scaffolds being constructed is always anxiously anticipated by Cliffside’s inhabitants as the first telltale sign that the Founding Festival is only days away.)
"I dunno!"Tommary stops treading to shrug, then resumes treading water, "When I worked the locks I just yanked ropes and took bribes to look the other way or imposed tariffs if bribed by locals wanting to keep an eye and imports out, why don't you jump in here and take a look, or send Nine or Ely down here to get some muscle on this."
OCC: is my saber vibe more buzzy about this wheel or when I pull myself back onto the passage across the trench?

OOC: Metal, shaped similar to a ships wheel with three spokes and no handles.
It is about a foot and half across, with the axel attached to the floor.

"Just because I don't like how this smells, and I ain't talkin' about the outhouse stench," Ilyara muttered, snagging the immovable rod off her belt again. Unslinging the length of rope she was carrying as well, Ilyara clicked the rod into place at about head height in front of her and started tying off the rope to it, fixing one end down with enough redundant knots that there was only about forty-five feet of rope left when she was done.
"Here. Safety line. This way if something weird happens down there, ye can tie yerselves off or have something to grab onto and follow back to the surface, eh?"
