Late Reply I know, But I was confused reading this thinking I'm sure my sorcerer has it - it's because Grease is available to sorcerers with Tasha additional spells.
You gain the Strixhaven Initiate feat and must choose Silverquill within it.
In addition, if you have the Spellcasting or Pact Magic feature, the spells on the Silverquill Spells table are added to the spell list of your spellcasting class. (If you are a multiclass character with multiple spell lists, these spells are added to all of them.)

You don’t automatically learn those spells, they just get added to the list of spells you can learn if you choose to.
As of today, 04.16.23, I’m STILL unable to add the background feature expanded spell list spells to my spell book. Is there a workaround?
Dissonant whispers and silvery barbs are not free content, the first is from the PHB, and the second is from Strixhaven. Have you purchased either of those books from this website? Or, barring that, do you have access to them though content sharing?

I’ve got Strixhaven, and spells from that content DO appear (such as Silvery Barbs). Specifically, I’ve the Witherbloom background, but the Druid spells are not in the list to add to my spell book.
Hi! I created my Strixhaven character before the background-feat bug was fixed, so I added the Strixhaven Initiate (Prismari) feat manually from the character sheet. Today, I noticed the bug had been fixed (thanks!). In the character builder, I saw there was an alert that I needed to make some spell choices. So I put in the same spell choices I'd made before manually. But now I seem to have the feat *twice*! When I look at the character sheet, every spell resulting from the Strix (Prismari) feat is there twice, and I can't seem to remove the extra copy. I can remove the *new* stuff by unselecting my background in the character builder, but then there's always an alert telling me I haven't finished yet. And there just doesn't seem to be a way to remove the old stuff and leave only the new. Help?
Under Features & Traits->Feats, click on “Manage Feats.” You should be able to remove the one you manually added there. You might need to remove the background first, and then add it back again after you’ve removed the superfluous copy of the feat.
Thanks for the fast reply. I went ahead and removed my background in the character creator, as you suggested. In the character sheet, the Strixhaven Initiate (Prismari) feat still appears; presumably this is the one I added manually. But when I open Manage Feats, Strixhaven Initiate does not display as chosen; it still has "ADD" next to it. So I don't see anything that I can turn "off" because it's not "on" in that menu.
(For what it's worth, I also can't see a way to remove my other feats, either. I have Shadow Touched from my 4th-level ASI, and that one shows up in the Manage Feats list, but without an option to remove. I also have Fey Touched from my race, and that one doesn't display as chosen in the Manage Feats list. Both of these do appear in my Feats area under Features & Traits, though.)

Feats added instead of ASIs need to be removed/changed on the "class" tab of the character builder.
Alright, I think I know what happened. The Strixhaven Initiate feat used to actually be divided into several feats for the various schools and Spellcasting abilities. Since then they found a way to consolidate them all into one single feat, so they archived the old versions and put out the new one. Archiving them means that whoever already had the old versions of the feat would keep them and not notice any changes on their character sheets, but they would just no longer be accessible to anyone so that people would use the new version moving forward. That’s why you cannot access the feat to delete it, it’s archived. They also archived the old version of the background that didn’t automatically grant the feat, so now that’s no longer accessible either.
You basically have two options moving forward, you can either:
Homebrew a copy of the Strixhaven Student background using the official one as a template, remove the automatically granted feat, and use that on your character sheet. That will function and act exactly as it did before.
Remake your character using the new version of the background and feat.
I looked at the Inkling mascot that i was able to add to the DNDB character sheet and there are some discrepancies:
It's supposed to be an ooze, not fey, fiend, or celestial.
The find familiar spell as a ritual should be available to anyone who has the feat (and listed in the character sheet), even if they don't get wizard spells. Should be in the spellbook too.
It contradicts itself by saying a familiar can't attack and then listing its attacks, and then clearly states how they do as familiars attack: . "However, inklings can just as readily support mages in combat, disrupting opponents’ sight." This is because Strix familiars can attack using your action. These are the additional rules that are missing for Strix, and these should be under Strixhaven Initiate in the sheet because it's a 4th level feature of it:
When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can forgo one attack to allow your mascot familiar to make one attack of its own with its reaction.
If your mascot familiar is within 60 feet of you, you can teleport as an action, swapping places with the familiar. If your destination space is too small for you to occupy, the teleportation fails and is wasted. Once you teleport in this way, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 2nd level or higher to do it again.
Also, Inklings produce ink and understand their creator's language. Can they write?

Debatable. The feat says, the familiar you summon with the spell takes the form of the inkling, whereas the spell itself says
the familiar has the statistics of the chosen form, though it is a celestial, fey, or fiend (your choice) instead of a beast.
In which case it is intended that while the familiar uses the stats of the inkling, the spell actually overrides its type.

I've created a level 4 human monk, added the required two feats (Strixhaven Initiate and Strixhaven MascotÖ, and I can find the Find Familiar spell in the spellbook as a ritual spell.

Again, no contradictions there. Familiars cannot use the Attack action themselves on their turn (as per Find Familiar); however their attacks are listed, because you can use your own Action to have the familiar use one of these attacks during your turn.

These are not part of the Strixhaven Initiate feat; they belong to the Strixhaven Mascot feat (which in turn has Strixhaven Initiate as a requirement). In fact, have you added the Strixhaven Mascot feat to your character, or did you simply expect the Strixhaven Initiate feat to just "evolve" on its own, when your character hits level 4?
Also, Inklings produce ink and understand their creator's language. Can they write?
With such a low intelligence, I'd presume they would have the literacy level of a first grader or below. I'd say It Depends On Your DM, but personally I would allow a character to teach the inkling to write. (Understanding spoken words and understanding written words are quite different - you might learn a lot of Chinese, Japanese, Russian or Arabic words and phrases without ever having an idea how to write them in their own script...)

Thanks. i added the additional feat and it's fine. Oh, I'm going by the Strixhaven RAW that explain their mascots/familiars...where the stat card says it is a construct.
Not sure why but the Ability Score Bonus no longer gets added to any of my characters after adding the Strixhaven initiate feat, any of them.
I added it to a character this morning and it worked fine, I could see it alter the Int and Cha score just fine when playing around with adding the feat and it's spells. Since I was still creating the character I went back into the manager to change a previous ASI choice from a +2 into Fey Touched to get an even score then went back to sheet view and the score went down by 2. I checked and noticed it wasn't adding both +1s to intelligence. When I tried to undo this I noticed it still wasn't adding the Strixhaven bonus. Then I started messing around and discovered that 1) It was only having a problem with Strixhaven Initiate since it read the bonus from other feats both alone and when combined, 2) It didn't matter if I deleted the ASI, the Class feat, or manually added feat or redid it in other orders this kept happening, and 3) this wasn't just affecting that character anymore but ALL my characters preventing any character I make now from getting the +1 bonus from the Strixhaven initiate feat.

The Strixhaven Initiate feat does not increase your ability scores; the chosen ability will be used as the spellcasting modifiers for the spells gained through the ability.
