Is Iggy or Icky an established character in the lore of DND? Bigby, Mordenkainen, Xanathar, Tasha, etc are all established characters which is why their names are used

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
My entire knowledge of Illithids or Mind Flayers came from Spelljammer. This was a race that existed before, but was never really explained or expounded on until SpellJammer AD&D2.5 came out. I came across most of my material around 1990-91. Read a few novels too that dived a little deeper into Mind Flayers as well! And Realize you can't have Illithids without githyanki and umber hulks. Prior to spelljammer you would find your lore in the Underdark or Undermountain.
When I think of notable Mind Flayers, I think of Nihiloor who worked for Zanathar's Thieves Guild for you Waterdeep fans!
Also Gideos the leader of the Bloodrovers. Which is a pirate band from Avernus (First layer of the 9 hells). from the "Infernal Tides" comics set in Baldur's Gate.
But a more pragmatic approach would be to use Sangalor who was a zealot of Oghma who was the god of Knowledge and patron god of Bards. He was notorious for gathering knowledge, mainly by the method of interrogation (that means brain eating for Illithids). He was an outcast of the Mind Flayers who would tutor people in how to battle Illithids for 5k gold pieces of course. His training is considered priceless to anyone who wanted to face off with an Illithid and other psionic creatures! He is another Waterdeep character. Check out "City of Splendors: Waterdeep" by Eric Boyd.

I am not sure what my Spirit Animal is. But whatever that thing is, I am pretty sure it has rabies!
"Where words fail, swords prevail. Where blood is spilled, my cup is filled" -Cartaphilus
"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
I had a mind flayer called Faelthananiel. Before ceremorphosis, it was a young elf maiden by the name of Faël than-Anielle, literally Anielle of the house of Faël. Elves have their family names first, I guess everyone knows that. Took my players a long time to spot that it was basically the same name. In the end, she was ... 'ressurrected' as an elf.
Anyways, if I were to write such a book, it would be called A Memoir of my time as a Mind Flayer, by Anielle of the house of Faël.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.
Trying to figure out if this is the Iggy referenced by OP.

As an aside....Iggwilv to me sounds very close the german "Ich Will" which means "I want" , the title of the thread is is about wanting a book about Illithids, what does this mean? Not much aside from me doing some very lateral thinking.

* Need a character idea? Search for "Rob76's Unused" in the Story and Lore section.
The idea just makes sense I mean why not? There is Mordenkainen presents monsters of the multiverse and Bighby presents glory of giants so why not?
I also have the ability to manifest my thoughts in ways that cut people. I call this power words. -Tasha
I play 3.5E…sometimes.

Nilihoor comes to mind. Dragon Heist book, he works under Xanathar.
Personally, I'd give some questionable body parts up for a truly comprehensive official monster guide to the feywild.
Apologies in advance for a Crit Role reference but I'd go with: Clarota's Guide to Ceremorphosis.
Clarota was a NPC in their first campaign in case anyone didn't know.

If Baldur’s Gate 3 is canon, there’s a named illithid. I won’t say more for fear of spoilers.
Iggwilv?

Another name for Tasha. She has a number of names.

Two, actually.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
There's also N'ghathrod, the mind flayer pirate from Spelljammer.
