1) As per the title, what happens when your squire from the Knight background feature dies in AL? Is it gone permanently or would it come back at the next module/adventure?
2) The book says it is a noble. So do I use the Noble stat block? Or commoner?
3) Can I give the squire more/better equipment such as a shield or other weapons such as a hand crossbow?

Nevermind. I got my answer. Knight is not a permitted variant rule in AL.

Do you have a source for this? The DDAL player's guide only says to choose a background from the PHB+1 and doesn't mention the squire at all.
Not exactly sure what the name of the source is, but this was a response I was given by an AL Admin on the facebook AL page.

Thanks. I found the material you posted in the DDAL FAQ from the DM's guild in the D&D Adventurers League player's pack.
