I am looking for advice on how to run a wearbear NPC in a campaign, The party stumbled across him in the woods, and I wish him to be something more than just kill and move on, an area of the game I am currently trying to better myself with as a dm. I have a underlying understanding of wearbears are neutral good, so how would one develop such a character. Current idea I have for the man, he is an Lumberjack who was infected with lycanthropy (also information on how to use lycanthropy in case party member gets cursed). The man now has been lost in the wilderness for about a year of a few months. That brings me back to my question, on how does on develop characters, so they have a reason to exist in the world
Good means the character is altruistic, typically wanting to help others, and avoid causing harm to innocents.
Neutral means neither being inclined towards strict adherence to the law, nor unnecessarily flaunting the law.
Most of the people that you'd point to as being "good" people (such as those that routinely donate to charities or volunteer for good causes) would be classified as Neutral Good.
Neutral good is essentially unbiased true good. You could think of it as an individual who will always do the right thing, regardless of the consequences.
It doesn’t mean they’ll just throw away their life or anything, but when push comes to shove they will lay down their life for the right reason. For a good aligned party they might permit them to stay in its home/den, giving them a safe haven for a night or two. Beorn was referenced earlier, you could add Tom Bombadil to that for more inspiration.

You decide the logic
You decide the motivation and the goals of the were warbear, means of coimmunication etc
The interaction with the players decides what comes next
Try and give your NPC a distinctive personality, something that makes them different from all the other werebears (but still neutral good)
I really like D&D, especially Ravenloft, Exandria and the Upside Down from Stranger Things. My pronouns are she/they (genderfae).
Well the classic is Beorn from the Hobbit. I'd use him as a starting point and change it up however you like from there.
My homebrew subclasses (full list here)
(Artificer) Swordmage | Glasswright | (Barbarian) Path of the Savage Embrace
(Bard) College of Dance | (Fighter) Warlord | Cannoneer
(Monk) Way of the Elements | (Ranger) Blade Dancer
(Rogue) DaggerMaster | Inquisitor | (Sorcerer) Riftwalker | Spellfist
(Warlock) The Swarm
Thank ya very much, the outline of what y'all have said shall be helpful, if you don't mind me prying Farther, what does it mean to be neutral good

Interesting, thank y'all for the Farther information
