Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

Your innate magic comes from the energy connecting the planes themselves. You've always known that distance is only an illusion, and you yearn to explore the Byways - the shortcuts among the spaces between the worlds. Traveling is in your blood, and you feel compelled to use your abilities to roam the world and the planes beyond.

Riftwalker Spells

1st-level Riftwalker feature

You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Riftwalker Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.

Riftwalk

1st-level Riftwalker feature

On your turn, you can use a bonus action to teleport a distance equal to 5 feet times your proficiency bonus. You can use this ability twice, and then cannot use it again until taking a long rest unless you expend a spell slot for each additional use according to the table below.

At 6th level, you regain your uses after a short or long rest.

Metaportation

1st-level Riftwalker feature

You have learned techniques to enhance the effects of teleportation. Starting at first level, you can choose two teleportation metamagics. You gain an additional metamagic at 6th, 14th, and 18th levels. Additionally, when you gain a level in this class you can choose one of the teleportation metamagics you know and replace it with another option you could learn at that level.

When you use your Riftwalk feature, you can apply one of these metamagics to the teleport. Starting at level 14, you can apply two of these metamagics to each use of Riftwalk. Additionally, starting at level 3 you can spend sorcery points to apply one of these metamagics to a spell with a teleport effect.

* Far Step

When applying this feature to Riftwalk, you can double the teleport distance.
Alternately, when casting a spell with a teleport effect, you can spend 2 sorcery points to double the distance of that effect.

* Slashing Wake

When applying this feature to Riftwalk, each creature within 5 feet of the space you leave takes 1d6 force damage. This damage increases to 2d6 at 5th level in this class, 3d6 at 11th level in this class, and 4d6 at 17th level in this class.
Alternately, when casting a spell with a teleport effect, you can spend up to your proficiency bonus in sorcery points to gain this effect at a cost of 1d6 force damage per point spent.

* Synchronous Leap

When applying this feature to Riftwalk, you can include one adjacent willing creature in the teleport. That creature appears in an unoccupied space of your choice adjacent to your destination when you arrive. At level 11, you can include up to two other creatures in the teleport.
Alternately, when casting a spell with a teleport effect, you can spend up to your proficiency bonus in sorcery points to include adjacent willing creatures at the cost of 1 sorcery point per creature.

** Forceful Arrival

Prerequisite: 6th level

When applying this feature to Riftwalk, you can create a shockwave at your destination point. Creatures within 10 feet must succeed a STR saving throw or be pushed up to 10 feet. Creatures can choose to fail this saving throw. In addition, unsecured objects that are completely within the area of effect are automatically pushed 10 feet away from you.

Alternately, when casting a spell with a teleport effect, you can spend 2 sorcery points to apply this effect to the teleport.

** Projection

Prerequisite: 6th level

When applying this feature to Riftwalk, you can grant the teleport to a willing creature you can see within 30 feet instead. You determine the destination square of the teleport, which must be in your line of sight. When combined with another metamagic, its effects are projected onto the target instead of you.

Alternately, when casting a spell with a teleport effect, you can spend 3 sorcery points to grant that teleport to a willing creature you can see within 30 feet instead. You determine the destination square of the teleport, which must be in your line of sight.

** Swap

Prerequisite: 6th level

When applying this feature to Riftwalk, you can target a destination space within the range of the teleport that is occupied by a creature of medium or smaller size. The target must succeed on a Charisma saving throw or swap places with you. A creature can willingly fail this saving throw. On a successful save, the teleport fails.

Alternately, when casting a spell with a teleport effect, you can spend 2 sorcery points to apply this effect to the teleport.

*** Out of Phase

Prerequisite: 14th level

When applying this feature to Riftwalk, as you teleport you gain resistance to all damage except psychic and force damage until the start of your next turn.

Alternately, when casting a spell with a teleport effect, you can spend 3 sorcery points to apply this effect to the teleport.

*** Stutter Step

Prerequisite: 14th level

When applying this feature to Riftwalk, you can make two teleports instead of one. The total distance you travel with both teleports cannot exceed the distance you could have traveled with the original teleport. In between the teleports you cannot take any actions; you appear just long enough to establish line of sight to a destination point for the second teleport. When combined with another metamagic, you can choose to apply that effect to one or both teleports.

Alternately, when casting a spell with a teleport effect, you can spend 2 sorcery points to apply this effect to the teleport.

*** Waypoint

Prerequisite: 14th level

When applying this feature to Riftwalk, you can hold the origin point of the teleport in your mind for 1 minute as if you were concentrating on a spell. While this effect is active, you can use a bonus action to return to the origin point. Any additional metamagic effects used in conjunction with this one only apply to the original teleport.

Alternately, when casting a spell with a teleport effect you can spend 4 sorcery points to apply this effect to the teleport, provided the spell does not require concentration.

**** Portal

Prerequisite: 18th level

When applying this feature to Riftwalk, you can sustain a portal in your origin and destination spaces for up to 1 minute as if you were concentrating on a spell. While the portal is open, creatures that enter the portal at the origin point are teleported to the destination point and vice versa as if they were adjacent spaces. Any additional metamagic effects used in conjunction with this one only apply to the original teleport that establishes the portals.

Alternately, when casting a spell with a teleport effect you can spend 6 sorcery points to apply this effect to the teleport, provided the spell does not require concentration..

**** Twist of Space

Prerequisite: 18th level

When applying this feature to Riftwalk, you can warp the space around you as you teleport. Creatures within a 30 foot radius of the teleport's origin must make a Charisma saving throw. Creatures that fail the save are teleported up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space within the affected area that you can see from either the origin or the destination point. Targeted creatures can choose to fail this save.

Alternately, when casting a spell with a teleport effect, you can spend 5 sorcery points to apply this effect to the teleport.

Blink Away

6th-level Riftwalker feature

When you are targeted by an attack or an area spell effect, you can use your Reaction to expend a use of your Riftwalk feature to teleport a distance equal to 5 feet times your proficiency bonus. If this movement takes you out of the range of the attack or the area of the spell, you are not affected by it.

You must use this ability before you see the outcome of the attack roll or saving throw, and you cannot apply metamagic to the teleport.

Advanced Metaportation

14th-level Riftwalker feature

You can apply two metamagic options to each use of your Riftwalk feature. You may also apply two metamagic options to a spell, but the maximum combined number of sorcery points you spend on the two options cannot exceed your proficiency bonus.

Spatial Lock

18th-level Riftwalker feature

You exert full control over the fabric of space around you. You cannot be teleported against your will, and no creature may teleport into or out of any space within 10 feet of your position unless you allow it.
