Hello! I'm currently running a heavily altered Rime of the Frostmaiden campaign, and on of my PCs is a Peace Cleric who literally will not touch a weapon or harm anything (long story), and main purpose is a healer and medic. Anyway, I'm planning on giving them a big reward at the end of the dungeon they are currently in, and I want a personalized magic item for each of them. I have items for all the other PCs (various magic weapons), but I am struggling to come up with ideas for an item for a character that is strictly a healer. The PCs will be level 8 at the end of the dungeon. Do you guys have any ideas for magic items I could give my PC? It can be a homebrew concept or an existing item, from any sourcebook. Thanks!
Are custom or home brew items out of the question?
There are pearls of power, necklace of power beads, staff of healing, ring of spell storing, Ioun stones,
Cool item I saw was an amulet, when a person would drop within 30', they could use a reaction and go to him and cast revivify 1/day. Make it 60' if you want.
I'd look for items which put out Charmed conditions or the like. Passive effects which reduce the amount of bloodshed sound like they would be right up their street.
A shield Guardian with its associated amulet would be an interesting one which could give some cool roleplay as the cleric attempts to stop it from violently retaliating. Could play out kind of like the Iron Giant. ultimately resulting in a peace-loving shield guardian would be really cool.

That's an awesome idea, that'd be awesome. Thank you!
For level 8, I'd tweak the healing re-roll to add an additional dice, and up the number of times you can boost a medicine check to 3 or 4, if you want to make the item a bit more powerful (it was designed for a level 3-4 character to start)
Perhaps something that will allow them to incapacitate foes without injuring them. Maybe something that lets them cast Sleep or Tasha’s Hideous Laughter once or twice per day.
Or perhaps something that makes all damage dealt by the character into no lethal damage so that they can attack without ever having to worry about killing anyone?
It depends on how much of a pacifist the peace cleric really wants to be. Do they simply refuse to harm other creatures or will they assist their team mates by casting spells on the opponents that don't inflict damage.
For example, will the cleric cast bane or banishment on foes?
I know someone who played a life cleric like this and did an amazing job focused on supporting the party and keeping everyone alive but they never cast an offensive spell through at least 15th level ... though I think they may have played farther after that.

As for items - magical armor and shields for better defenses and special properties. Even standing at the back avoiding combat, a cleric will occasionally be targeted. Other options mentioned include things like prayer beads, ring of spell storing, various staves - ring and cloak of protection may be boring but help with both AC and saving throws. You could also homebrew a +2 ring of protection or something similar that could be a gift from the cleric's diety and only usable by them.
Other than that, what other roles does the cleric take on in the party and is there anything that could support them in those roles? If they like being a peacemaker then an item that provides expertise in the persuasion skill might be useful if they like to try to defuse situations.
I played a life cleric that basically only healed. I was given a cloak that would let me cast bane or bless 1 per day and it did not require concentration. Was a really neat item since I would technically have two concentration spells going!
Edit: I should also note that it added +1 to my AC and spell save DC!

Homebrew items are good! Thanks a bunch for the suggestions!

I made a custom circlet for a healer character in an old campaign that might work well at low/mid levels

That's an awesome idea, that'd be awesome. Thank you!
I really like that! I'll think about using it.

Ok yeah that makes sense.

Oh I really like that thanks so much!
You can give them a magic item that duplicates the effect of the Sanctuary with an 8 hour duration. Or you can give them https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/1954297-holy-symbol-of-distance which will turbo charge their healing spells.
