Pretty much all the basic equipment is in the PHB. However, the way the system is designed that accounts for pretty much most of the equipment anyone will need. For example, if your players want to use a katana, you would just use the stats for a longsword and call it a katana. If your players want to use a wakizashi or a falchion you would just use the statistics for a scimitar and call it a wakizashi or a falchion, if your players want their characters to use a flamberge or a claymore, they were just use the stats for a greatsword.
In the PHB you have a limited list of Weapon's, Armour & Equipment...
In the DMG you have a wide range of magic items...
Is there any other sources for equipment, weapons & armour...
During our session earlier, i was asked this by all 3 of my players...
I am a little reluctant to do homebrew stuff myself, as I'm not confident of creating balanced items...
Not much more has been published in terms of additional gear and 5E has no Arm & Equipment sourcebook released yet that would expand on the list from the PHB.
''The Weapons table shows the most common weapons used in the fantasy gaming worlds'' pretty much leaves us to homebrew everything else we need, so there are some PDF available in DM's Guild if you look for some. Perhaps even on this site.

There’s magic items in practically every book, if not every book.
For mundane items, there’s maybe a couple things scattered around, but not much.
