I don’t think my original post went through, but apologies if it did and I just can’t find it.
I’m totally new to DMing and have only ever played a few sessions of D&D, but I want to try and get my kids into it. So I’ve bought the digital starter set with the Dragons of Stormwreck Isle adventure, but there doesn’t seem to be a pre-made campaign on D&DBeyond like there is for the old starter set.
Presumably those campaigns already have all the encounters ready to go…. So does that mean I have to start a new campaign for this adventure and add all the encounters manually https://9apps.ooo/ ?
When you buy the digital, it does not create a DDB campaign in MY Campaigns, nor does it include the encounters that may occur in the adventure.
Unfortunately, you have to manually create all those. Keep in mind that you do not need a Campaign or create the encounters to run the game. You can just run the adventure and do what you feel comfortable with.
And to clarify, the “premade campaigns” do not include pre built encounters. There’s not much to them at all aside from a pretty picture and some relatively generic text.
Some digital table tops like roll 20 do automatically set up maps and encounters when you buy them but dnd beyond doesn't. This site is more a library than a virtual table top.

They do have pre-build encounters, you just have to manually input them if you want to use the DDB encounter builder.

I write homebrew and don't publish it. (evil, I know)

In what way do the premade campaigns include pre-built encounters?

I believe each of you is talking about something different. I think Arwen is referring to the fact that pre-made campaigns do not port their encounters directly into DDB’s campaign system. Kthunk, on the other hand, is referring to the encounters that are written into the text (you encounter 4 gnolls chewing at the bones of another that was brutally ripped to pieces. One looks up and they all screech and run at you; roll initiative.) of every D&D campaign.
