I've just finished the prestream portion of my Critical Role fanfic, Critical Drow, and I'm looking ahead to my character's arc, which includes a confrontation with her matriarch. I know it's a story and I can do whatever I want, but exploring the different builds for Obtena is part of the fun (she's an arcane trickster, so far), and I want Vox Machina to face a credible foe.
The way I have it, the matriarch grew up wielding magic, and became a priestess when she took control of the house. But the drow in Exandria's underdark are going nuts. The common folk are plagued by aberrations that drive them to paranoid slaughter, while The Chained Oblivion whispers in the minds of the nobility. By the time she confronts her wayward firstborn, the Abyss has gotten its hooks into her, which will provide a nasty surprise during the fight.
My first thought is a balanced multiclass of sorceror and cleric; then maybe warlock, or perhaps something special like possession by an abyssal entity when she's near death. She'll have minions - probably a warmaster and a wizard, a few rogues with crossbows and shortswords - but Obtena might have a way to sway at least some of them to her cause, depending on how she plays it.
If anyone has any other ideas, or advice on her build, I'd appreciate it.

Grave Domain Cleric and Way of the Shadow Monk for an insidious Combat Priestess. Or maybe Shadow Sorcerer and Undying Patron Warlock.
