Does the artificer armorer's defensive field count as a spell? In the D&D state it says
Defensive Field
You gain a bonus action that you can use on each of your turns to gain 9 temporary hit points, replacing any temporary hit points you already have. You lose these temporary hit points if you doff the armor.
It is an argument we are having because the character cast a spell and used this bonus action, but someone argued that because he cast a spell he couldn't use it.

No, that is not a spell. That is a class feature. Class feature descriptions are found with classes, spells are found in the spells list.
That is what I thought, thank you. Another question that came up was what about the Artificers infusions? For example the Boots of the winding path. The item states, "While wearing these boots, a creature can teleport up to 15 feet as a bonus action to an unoccupied space the creature can see. The creature must have occupied that space at some point during the current turn." It doesn't specifically say you are casting a spell, but Teleport is in the spell list. My argument was that because it is not stating you are casting a spell (like the description for the prayer beads says) than it is not a spell and therefore the bonus action could be used even if you cast a spell as an action.

Teleport is indeed a name of a spell, but there are many other ways to teleport as it is a frequently occuring mode of changing ones position. If that feature meant the wearer is casting the spell Teleport, it would say so and it wouldn't be limited to 15 feet.
This situation is similar to what I realized with the Eladrin subrace for elves! If you look at Eladrin in the DMG, they get a racial ability called feystep that says something along the lines of (paraphrased) "you may cast the spell misty step once per Short rest" . but the same ability for the same subrace in MTF says (also paraphrased) "as a bonus action, you can teleport up to 30 feet once per short rest" which is basically the spell description for misty step. but because DMG's version says "CAST MISTY STEP" The eladrin wouldn't be able to cast any other non-cantrip spell, and because MTF DOESN'T say "cast" the eladrin can teleport, and still cast fireball.
Long story short: its only a spell if it says its a spell lol
If the description includes the words “cast” and/or “spell,” then that’s what you’re doing, casting a spell. If it doesn’t include those words, it isn’t a spell.

Really quick way to tell if something is a spell is to see if it's listed here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells
If it is, it's a spell, if it's not, it's not.
As Sposta pointed out, that is a class feature.

I am one with the Force. The Force is with me.

Also, every single spell has a level (Cantrip, 1-9). If it does not list a level, it can not be a spell
