I have been trying to do as mentioned in the title creating the old iteration of Warforged, the one that had subraces named Juggernaut, Envoy, and Skirmisher. Part of the reason he wanted to play this Warforged specifically was that it allowed for a fairly high boosted AC without even having armor. This was done by the Warforged configuring the type of armor plating or (Integrated Protection) they had at the end of every long rest one. The one he wanted to use reads as follows: Heavy Plating 16+ Your Proficiency Bonus, disadvantage on (Dexterity) stealth checks.
I know there is no built-in function to create a modifier that adds proficiency bonus to AC as (to my knowledge) that doesn't exist elsewhere in the game and would be hardly utilized by most of the community which I understand. My workaround for this was to create a racial feature that boosted his unarmored AC so that he would have 18 at level 1 16+2 Prof=18. I was able to do that with no issue but to make it scale I thought I could create options within that Integrated Protection that could be given level pre-requisites and each one could apply a +1 for each level he would gain an increase to his proficiency bonus. +1 at 5 +1 at 9 etc. I have done this and created the options within that same feature that boosts his AC but they do not show up in the character builder when I go to select them in the "Origin Manager" of the Racial section. In one of my previous versions of the subrace, I was able to get a feature to show up there and it was selectable cosmetically though it had no effect on the character's sheet. Atleast no effect that I was able to notice anyway.
I am looking for a way to create tiered bonuses within a race that are level locked that will boost AC as higher levels are achieved. here is an attached character with said Homebrew Race That I created for sake of troubleshooting https://ddb.ac/characters/47433299/NnPV50. Their Armor Class is currently 18 and they are level 5 16+3 (for prof) should be 19. Any and all help to create this would be appreciated.
Thank you very much for much for the quick and curt solution, I feel like a fool for not considering somebody else had already done this and I'm curious to see how it was mechanically achieved.
I just checked it out and, respectfully, it doesn't actually calculate the proficiency bonus into the AC like I was wanting, not directly or through a roundabout method like I was attempting reading through the comments of the subrace it's actually one of the main complaints about it, so I'm back to square one now.
Sorry, I have to admit that I really only skimmed the first time through and didn’t read things correctly. Back when he wrote those that wasn’t possible, but it is now. You can just add a feat to that character to cover it.
This worked like a charm, much appreciated for the assistance, IamSposta :). It's a tad unfortunate I can't tie the feature to the racial trait but I believe I can restrict the Feat to only be selectable by Warforged so I'm more than satisfied with this solution.
If BadEye updates his Homebrew to function, you can replace the version you added with the new one. (But it would be a pain in the ass for him to do it because he doesn’t work here anymore.) Hopefully someone who does work here can go in and fix it for him and and the rest of us, otherwise you could create your own version from scratch, or wait until they let us use other people’s homebrews as templates.
Oh I'm more than capable of making my own replacement race, I guess I was just under the assumption that for some reason those features wouldn't apply properly in the race section as I was having trouble getting the options to show up. After seeing his though, I think I understand what I was doing wrong and can probably fix it up. Is there any official way I can commend you for your assistance or something? A good report or survey of some kind.
I know I'm a bit late to this (by 2 years, geez) but I was trying to do something similar (making a feat to replicate the different forms of integrated protection). When I got to the composite plate, the dexterity bonus is limited to +2, is there any way to do this?

Adam BadEye already created those, you can use his.

That modifier there will automatically add proficiency bonus to AC.
So, for example, the heavy plating would require the following three modifiers:
Again, sorry for not reading it properly the first time. I hope that helps.

I shall immediately test and explore that option!, thank you again for the attempt to solve my problem.

I don’t work here, I just live here. If you hit the “thanks” button that’s as official as it gets. You really want to thank me? Pay it forward.
