Hey everyone! I'm back for more help! So, my character died recently and while creating my new character my DM is giving me a magic item but, the effect doesn't exist as a weapon. How would I go about creating this in the menu for the effect? Basically, we are taking a Shortsword and adding the spell Absorb Elements to it with 3 Charges that recharge daily at dawn.

You just do that. It’s not hard.

1. Go here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew/creations/create-magic-item
2. Pick shortsword, +1 as your template, [CREATE]
3. Delete the modifier, add absorb elements, and set it to costs 1 charge.
4. Change the name and description, tags, etc. under Basic Information, then under Additional Information, add the Charges, etc.,
5. [SAVE CHANGES]
