hey I need help with creating a homebrew class, the only things I've got is that the base will be a monk and then I'll multiclass into a homebrew magic user of sorts and to give you an idea of what I'm looking for, my character is a Human/Dragon/Devil if you need more info on my character to help come up with ideas contact me on discord
A Human mixed with Dragon and Devil sounds like a spawn of Tiamat. I looked, and sure enough, that's a Dragonborn. No need to go to the trouble of making up a new class. I don't know what sort of homebrew Magic User you have in mind, but I'd bet a Dragonborn Dragonsoul Bloodline Sorcerer Monk would pretty much do the job.
Homebrewing a subclass for the express purpose of Multiclassing is never a good idea. If you are looking for something to synergize well with Monk, you only really want to take about two or them levels in monk, or two to three levels in the other and go monk the other 17-18 levels. (Monks struggle when multiclassed because they are MAD, and because loosing even 2-3 Ki over the whole 20 levels sucks eggs.)
Personally I am a big fan of picking up 2 levels of Ranger one somewhere in tier 2, the other in tier 3. But use the Optional Ranger features from Tasha’s.
The other one I hear works very well is 2-4 levels in Druid. But giving up that many Monk levels is a tough sell for me.
If you are going to put lots into this, why not make subclass for your monk that gives magic...using Ki points like Shadow Monk, but make it more Sorcerer centric. Early on, you can have some Ki point recovery options, otherwise you would/will run out of Ki points waaaay to fast to use them for Monk stuff and spell casting.
For instance on a sub class I am working on I have done this meditation technique:
As an action, you can regain 1d4 expended Ki point(s), but you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. You can use this action twice at level 17.
So attach all the Sorcerer spell lines to the sub class, then make a more advanced Ki point system, that mirrors the Shadow Monk...that could do it all for ya?
PS: I built a killer Way of the Shadow Monk, Twilight Domain Cleric, Gloomstalker Ranger...that sort of feels like a cheat code at times...

Writing a whole new class is a lot of trouble. I won't go that far just for one character.
