I've created a homebrew feat to add tooltips for the Artificer Homunculus Servant. I created a bonus action attack action for the Force Strike attack. I have the action type set to spell, ability score type selected and the is proficient checkbox checked.
I can get the attack roll to show up in the action tooltip if I select a range in the Attack Range dropdown. However, this results in the ability score being added to the damage, which I do not want.
Tried this with general action as well, same result.
Are there any workarounds?

For my Homunculus Servant attack action (implemented via a subclass option), I wound up just making it as a ranged attack, and then Customizing the action on the sheet to subtract the INT modifier from the Damage Bonus. (It's the same thing you pretty much need to do for the Artillerist's Eldritch Cannon Flamethrower.)

A “Spell Action” or a “Weapon Action” will add the ability score to the damage roll, a “General Action” will not. When you tried it as a General Action you must either not have hit the [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information, or not waited long enough for the character sheet to update to the new action type, or your character sheet needed for stuck on an old data cache and needed to be “woken up.” Please see the General FAQ #s 6 & 6-B for more information: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq).
Sure there is, as a General Action. (Unless they changed that very recently.)
Whether General or not, if you don't set an Attack Range for the Action, it just shows -- under Hit/DC and doesn't add modifier to the damage. If you set an Attack Range (Ranged or Melee), it will show the +X for the Attack Roll under Hit/DC but also adds the modifier to the damage.
It's the same problem the Artillerist Eldritch Cannon - Flamethrower runs into.

That's what I thought too, but I tried all action types and made sure to wait. Still didn't work. So maybe it was unintentionally changed during updates?

I’ve been doing some tinkering and it looks like you’re right. I wonder when that changed. It’s either gotta be relatively recently or else I just haven’t tried that workaround for quite a while. 🤷♂️ Sorry Xyrlian, my bad yo.
This is still not fixed. Wizards do some maintenance on this site please. All I'm trying to do is have a saving throw based action that deals damage to enemies if they fail but I can't get rollable dice unless its an "attack". *EDIT* Okay I may have figured it out. *EDIT* Nope

The only trouble is, they want the attack roll to show up. But there's no way to get the attack roll without adding the modifier to the damage roll.
