this is a pretty ambitious campaign for your first time as DM and I am not sure that the D&D rules really lend themselves to characters being Transformers.
Hopefully people will have some ideas though!
Can you share with us the ideas you already have, so people can see that to start with?
I would create a race that basically gives them the Druid's Wild Shape feature, except obviously limiting it to 1 thing, and expanding it to whatever you want them to be able to transform into. You could also the the UA Changeling with the same limitation. I don't know if you are going with animals like Transformers Prime, or vehicles like the classic Transformers, which in this case would be a bunch of wagons lol so I don't know how that would necessarily play out, but please share your experiences so that we can see how you ran it and what ways it could be potentially modified for others!
