It's easy to give a flat AC bonus as a part of a class feature, but is there a modifier type/subtype combination that will allow for a level scaling bonus to AC?
The first thing I thought of, but wouldn't actually implement, was tying it to proficiency. It didn't work, but I can't be sure I set it up right. Perhaps adding similar hidden features that overwrite the bonuses at specific levels?
For context it would only be useable with light armor, but that's just another layer that the system likely can't handle.
After you add the modifier to your subclass feature you MUST re-save the entire subclass using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information or the system won’t pick up your changes. After that it can sometimes take up to 20 minutes for those changes to push through to the character builder/sheet.

So THAT'S why some of my changes worked when I tested them the next day. The help is much appreciated, especially the lightning fast reply.
Additionally, I've seen from some of your responses in other threads that the "Half Proficiency Bonus" type isn't able to be used in a lot of cases. Any chance it could be used here? That is almost exactly what I want for a scaled bonus to Armor Class.
Unfortunately not, no. Half Proficiency is not available in the relevant dropdowns. To emulate that you would need to put a +1 Bonus to Armored AC @ 1-3 level (whenever they get the subclass depending on the base class), 9th, and 17th levels. (Or at least the closest to 9th & 17th that you can get based on the subclass levels.)

It should just be set up like this (if it works):
